Beautiful waterfront retreat with kayaks and bikes
You will love this perfect waterfront retreat on the Chocolay River with Lake Superior access. This custom built house is designed to take advantage of the great outdoors. From the cozy covered front porch to the spacious backyard, this home offers a relaxing, private oasis overlooking 100' of river frontage with beautiful views, a 530 sq ft. raised wood deck, a hot tub and even a pirate ship playhouse designed for hours of fun for the littles. In the winter, you can access Marquette’s vast snowmobile trails right from the driveway!
For the biking enthusiast, the Heritage bike trail is right around the corner. From here you can bike less than four miles to downtown Marquette for a meal or a beer at one of Marquette's many craft breweries. You can bring your own bike or use one of the cruisers that we provide.
You can also fish from the shores for Pike or head out on the river in the kayaks provided where anglers report catches of Coho salmon and Lake trout. There are many bird species to be observed in the area including nesting bald eagles that fish the lake, migratory birds and an occasional Great horned owl. The land across the river is part of the Chocolay Bayou Nature Preserve a sanctuary with hiking trails and prohibited development.
Upon entering this home from the covered front porch, you'll love the outstanding views of the river. The living room with its large windows, warm wood floors and fireplace will draw you in. The kitchen is spacious and welcoming with cherry cabinets, granite counter tops, heated floors, and a large island. The upper level master suite offers large windows overlooking the water, a walk in closet, full bath with tiled tub/shower enclosure and granite counter tops. There are two additional bedrooms upstairs with a spacious bathroom complete with tiled floor and shower. The downstairs bedroom can also be used as a play room or second living room.

The house was very clean and bright. The temperature was unseasonable HOT (90). The host had placed two window AC units in top floor windows. The host had top notch bathroom/shower products.Childrens toys were a great addition to exterior playground.Boats and bikes were put to extensive use.
We rented this place to house my daughter and her wedding party. Since the ring bearer was 3, the space was amazing for him! The rest of us enjoyed the beautiful view and many walks along the path that is right there. It was perfect!
We stayed at the home, to be close to NMU and attend our Sons graduation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even the Grandma and Grandpas felt comfortable in the home! They really were interested in the homes history! We loved the view, the hot tub…greatly stocked kitchen, and the full baby set up( but our granddaughter last minute, could not make the trip with her mom and dad, those were definite draws to our choosing the home!
We had a wonderful stay at Valerie’s property in Harvey! We enjoyed the brand new hot tub and quick access to the snowmobile trails! 5 stars and we certainly will try to be back soon!!
The house was great, welcoming, clean, great views and bonus fresh snow to play in. Grandsons age 10 and 7 enjoyed skiing with Grandpa and parents while Grandma played with 2 1/2 year old in yard and house. There were TOYS and a good crib and fresh snow.
The home was exactly as described and offered a lot of amenities that made the experience great when we weren't out exploring Marquette and the surrounding area! Great place to book with a large group of friends and family!
The property was very sufficient for our needs and wants. The hot tub was a lot of fun. The veiw and privacy on the back yard was great. I hope we have the opportunity to stay here again.
Loved our stay here with our 4 adult kids. House was well appointed and in a great location. Felt secluded on the river while being just a short drive to downtown Marquette. We enjoyed the kayaks and walking/bike trail right at the house. Marquette was fun to explore with cute shops and restaurants along with hiking and swimming. We also did a day trip to Pictured Rocks from here, just 45 minutes away. Would definitely stay here again!
Excellent home for an extended family stay in Marquette
This is a very nice home and property just a few minutes from downtown Marquette. It’s easy to find and access; and it’s a convenient location for going wherever you need to in the area. The home sleeps 8 very comfortably, but you could sleep 3 in a King and 2-3 or 4 more in the trundles (if you’re on friendly terms ). And there’s room for two more on the couches, if the hosts allow that. So I suppose 12 could squeeeze in there, if needed. There is a crib room, as well, next to one of the bedrooms. One note to be aware of: there are no bedrooms on the main floor (except perhaps the couches). There is a half bath. So our 91 year old did need help up the stairs to a bedroom. It was still worth the effort. Valerie is an attentive host and outfitted the home with every single thing a large family needs. Just bring your toothbrush, practically. Our family really enjoyed using the bikes on the nearby trail and the kayaks on the lagoon and out into Lake Superior. We also toasted marshmallows in the fire pit and enjoyed the hot tub. The backyard is beautiful, with chipmunks, cottontails, squirrels, birds of all kinds. Really a nice place. Marquette doesn’t typically need air conditioning, so the home is cooled by the weather. It’s heated of course and there’s a nice gas fireplace in the living room. We enjoyed it on the cold day. The house is very open and has an airy feel - due to all the well-placed and large windows. Lots of light! Very good, pleasant feel to the house.
This is our 2nd stay here and the addition of the fence in the backyard was great. The house is great for families with something for everyone (playhouse, hot tub, firepit). We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed here in fall of 2022 for a visit with our NMU student. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy family time with distant college students. The kitchen is one of the best stocked of all the places we’ve stayed, making it easy to do home cooked meals.
House is quiet and the view of the water from everywhere in the house makes for a great way to start and end the day. Access to the Iron Ore Heritage Trail is great for walking and biking. Loved it!
