Welcome to your private Lake Superior retreat. Tucked into the north woods, well back from the highway, our home sits above a quiet, unspoiled beach of classic sugar sand, just 9 miles from downtown Marquette. Swim, snorkel, or body surf when the waves are up, or simply enjoy the sun and sand. At night, look north over the lake for a blaze of stars, or west across the bay to the lights of Marquette. With a clear sky and solar activity, the Northern Lights can put on a show any time of year.
The Home -- This recently remodeled 1,800 sq ft single-level home is set behind a dune, sheltered from big storms but close enough for lake views through the north-facing windows.
• Bedrooms: Three bedrooms, each with a queen bed, cozy comforters, blackout blinds, and a full closet. The primary suite has an ensuite bath with a walk-in rain shower and walk-in closet. The other two bedrooms share a full bath with a soaking tub.
• Living: A bright living room with a queen sleeper sofa, a smart TV with Roku, and a Bose sound bar you can stream to from your phone. Free Wi-Fi throughout.

• Dining: An 8-foot oak table seats 10, plus a 3-seat island bar.
• Comfort: Radiant hot-water heat for winter, and individual mini-splits in each bedroom and the great room for summer. Washer and dryer on the main level. Ample parking, including for trailers and RVs.
Beach Access -- The beach lies below a roughly 20-foot sand bluff, about a 20-yard walk up a sand dune from the house. Guests with limited mobility may find the walk difficult.
Explore -- Downtown Marquette and Northern Michigan University are 9 and 10 miles away, with breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, and seasonal festivals in between. The Iron Ore Heritage Trail is directly across the highway, offering a car-free bike ride into town and access to the Noquemanon Trail Network for hiking and mountain biking.

Wonderful, kind host who responded quickly to questions. The house is gorgeous! It's very clean and well stocked. The ice maker on the fridge works . We were there in chilly weather but still took walks on the stunning sandy beach.
We loved our stay here, and it made for such a special weekend celebrating our son’s NMU graduation. The home was exceptionally clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. The décor was beautiful, and the entire space felt warm, comfortable, and welcoming throughout our stay. Although it was too cold for the water, we loved walking along the beautiful beach and taking in the views. The owner was so kind, responsive, and easy to work with, which made the experience even better. Thank you for helping make this graduation weekend so memorable. We would absolutely love to return and highly recommend this stay to anyone visiting the area.
This proprty is top notch with all the amenities one could want. The bedding, dishes, and decor are all wonderfully designed for comfort and beauty. The beach is glorious and the town of Marquette is just a short drive away. We will definitely return one day!
Beautiful house and a wonderful location. It comes equipped with all the amenities and extras that you could ever need! Great experience from beginning to end!
This is one of the most comfortable houses we have ever stayed at. The beach was awesome. Close enough to town, but far enough away to feel like you were on your own. Everything was just as stated in the listing.
For my purpose, spending time on and enjoying the beach I rate this (generous) 5/10. There’s a lack of access photos for a reason. Getting to the beach is non-trivial. It’s an adventure, if you’re 15. I’m not. My two guest couples were no-shows. Good thing as neither of the women could have made the 25 foot incline and 35 foot decline without considerable help. There is no view of the beach from the house. This is an older house that has been remodeled. Level changes between living areas are sometimes trip hazards (I put caution tape at the door way to our bedroom). I connected a long rope from the top to bottom of the “basement” stairway that has no handrail. (The garage and generous sauna were not available)I rate it 7/10 because of the following. Owner communication was good and “caretaker” personable and helpful. Owner provided a canoe for my use, I but not used due to steep incline/decline to beach. The beach is all sand . The bed and bedroom were comfortable (we used only one) and the temperature control worked well – we had one day of 90. The living area was comfortable and the TV was smarter than average – we used our Roku account. Wi-Fi and cell coverage were no issue. The kitchen was set up by someone who cooks and was well stocked with equipment and a cabinet with a plethora of spices and other useful items.

This property is a wild northwoods location and is marketed as such. Every beach property between Marquette and Shot Point has a natural sand bluff ranging in height from about 15 feet to over 100 feet. Walking up and over this bluff -- which on this property is approximately 20 feet to the top -- is a normal aspect of enjoying Lake Superior’s sand beach shoreline. We have had many guests, friends, and family members well into their 80’s enjoying this beach. If the guest wanted boardwalk-style beach access, he should have sought a location other than Lake Superior.
Our listing specifically says that the home is set back from the beach behind the sand dune. We have lovely views of the lake, but we do not have direct views of the beach. We like this setting because it affords some degree of shelter when Lake Superior is raging in a full gale.
The stairs leading from the breezeway to the basement are gradual and wide, easy to navigate, with wall support on each side. However, for anybody who does not wish to navigate them, there is a rear exterior doorway that allows the basement area to be accessed from outdoors. The basement area is used only to store beach-related items such as the beach towels that we provide for guest use.
The listing does not offer garage nor sauna access. The guest’s complaints about lack of access to these facilities are not well taken.
This guest did not contact us during his stay at all to mention his issues with these items or to request cancellation of all or part of the listing.
We loved our stay in this home! The location was perfect - it felt secluded but was only 15-20 minutes from the downtown area. The beach was beautiful. Key for us was the sand - our kids love playing in the sand, and this sand was perfect for playing and building sand castles! The home was beautifully decorated and filled with thoughtful details, but still very functional and the owner provided everything we needed. Communication with the owner was easy.
The best vacation rental ever! This home is meticulously clean and well stocked- no detail was missed. The owner is lovely and responds to texts quickly. The Lake Superior beach at the house is always gorgeous for walks, swimming or bonfires. And of course the location is perfect for UP adventuring:-)
Four of us stayed for five nights it was wonderful. The queen size beds and three separate rooms were perfect for our group. Accommodations were excellent kitchen was amazing beach view from the house was nice but walking up close was best experience.
I would rent from this owner again. The accommodations were perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals, the beds were super comfortable. The beach area was great for evening fires and an added bonus, lake superior was warm enough to swim in!
We LOVED our stay in this house. It was equipped with absolutely everything you could want or need. The owners literally thought of everything - including S’mores sticks and outdoor sand toys. Everyone, from my older parents to my kids, adored our time at the beach and the house. I hope to come back to this amazing home soon! Thank you for making our stay beautiful
