The property was a very unique and tasteful blending of two historical log cabins and a modern residence with all the up-to-date perks and access to a sandy beach. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. We highly recommend and we would stay there again in a heartbeat! Don’t miss out on this southern Door County lakeshore gem!
Our family stayed there last week of July 2022. What a great place, and you can't beat location - right on the beach. Property owners were absolutely wonderful. I know if I go back to the area their house will be my first choice.
Excellent experience in a very comfortable, well equipped property. We truly enjoyed our stay. It has a lovely view of the lake and a nice beach within a few steps from the house. The owners are terrific. Definitely recommend this beautifully maintained property in a tranquil setting.
We had an amazing few days. Host Elizabeth was so helpful. She had a list of places to go, things to see, places to eat. Home was very spacious and clean. She had a history of the cabin area that made the place even more special. The beach front was beautiful and chairs were waiting on us to enjoy our coffee and moonrise on the beach. We did not want to leave and will be back.
Beautiful home with an amazing location on Lake Michigan. The sunrises were stunning and peaceful. Elizabeth and Gary were great hosts. We were treated like family. Thank you!
Comfortable house with up to date kitchen and bathrooms located steps from Lake Michigan and an expansive sand beach. This rental is hosted by a nice family who are helpful and available for questions. It is a beautiful location to get away for a peaceful vacation to enjoy the water and the beach. It is close enough to the Door County highway system to also take advantage of the other attractions in Door County.

This is a wonderful place to stay. It is spacious and beautifully decorated. Everything is upscale including appliances, pots and pans, sharp knives, a soda stream. Elizabeth, the host, has provided many thoughtful extras like beach towels, bicycles, check-in treats. The view is spectacular. You feel like you are on the ocean watching and listening to waves rolling in. Elizabeth is a wonderful host. Since we are older she even helped us with luggage. Highly recommended.
This is a beautiful home in an amazing setting. The hosts pay attention to details that a visitor will welcome, and are very accommodating and available. Small touches (like host gifts, an excellent TP supply, the basics of laundry soap, dish soap, etc., and beach towels are provided) make it a convenient way to start a vacation easily. A history of the building is an interesting, fun addition. There is lots of space to utilize, both inside and out.
Just about perfect! A wonderful property with wonderful hosts.
This property is finished with care and 1st class materials. No junky doors, towels or kitchen pots and pans as is often the case in a rental. Decorating is delightful inside and out. It's clear there has been much attention to detail to be sure guests are comfortable in every way.
If we are forced to find a negative, it would be only that it is located relatively far south on the peninsula. If you're interested in activities in Egg Harbor, Ephraim or Sister Bay, everything is 30-40 minutes away. That may or may not be a problem for you.
Overall, it's a delightful place to spend a week and it's on one of the best stretches of beach in the county. Many thanks to Gary and Elizabeth for a wonderful stay.
We expected it to be great - and it was better than that!
Most of the time when we book a property, the photos are glamour shots, and the property never looks as nice. This time, it was the opposite. The photos look great, but the reality is even better. Beautiful home, super comfortable, gorgeous view, an incredible beach just steps from the back door, and hosts that are as nice and helpful as they could possibly be. The beds were super comfortable. There was plenty of room. Decor had a perfect Door County country vibe. Just 10-12 minutes from downtown Sturgeon Bay, and close to the main roads to take you everywhere else. We just wish they could have made Lake Michigan a little warmer so we could swim a bit more :)
Our 1st stay at this property. It was immediately clear that Elizabeth and Gary had invested time and thoughtfulness to ensure that guests were well-provided for in terms of both amenities and comfort. Decorating and art work were exceptional. The house offered everything needed for a comfortable stay: kitchen amenities, grills, bedding, games, TV, etc, were all wonderful. They live next-door (but were not intrusive) and are immediately available to answer questions and solve problems. Water access and beach couldn't have been better.
.
A location farther north in the peninsula would have been a plus. You are 30 minutes from most of the activity in Door Co. But, despite that, we would absolutely return because the rest of the amenities more than compensate.
We highly recommend.
Beautiful property inside and out. Very clean and all essentials provided. No need to bring bottled water due to good tap water! Owner is very friendly and helpful. Close to city and surrounding state parks. Could not have asked for a better Door County experience! Definitely, booking again!
As others have said, this house is much more than the pictures communicate. Our hosts were wonderful, informative, friendly people and answered questions quickly. The property is spacious, clean, exceptionally comfortable, and benefits from the sound of the nearby waves. Bikes are available, and it's fairly quick to get to all parts of Door County by car from here. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly come again.
This is a beautiful property in the perfect setting. There was more space than is evident in the listing, so we really felt able to spread out and not be on top of each other. The close proximity to the beach is a huge draw. The owners are very responsive. They actually live right next door, and make themselves available if needed, but do not hover. We would definitely return to this property.
Home was clean, beautiful, well equipped-with everything from nice cookware to very comfortable beds. Very quiet and peaceful location. Elizabeth and Gary are very accommodating and wonderful hosts-they even reloaded firewood for us every night for our bonfire. Looking forward to vacationing there again.

About the host
Hosted by Elizabeth & Gary Wolkstein
We have owned the adjacent property for 20 years and this property just became available in 2021. We decided to purchase the property for use by our growing family of children and grandchildren. When not in use for our family, we are happy to offer this one of a kind and beautiful property to others who would like a memorable vacation.
Why they chose this property
This is a special place with a beach that changes daily. One day there are thousands of colorful stones, another day the beach is sandy. There are all kinds of birds to watch, boats and ships at a distance headed to the ship canal. One day the beach will be calm, the next there will be a wild surf.
What makes this property unique
The beauty of nature, tranquility, very few people, cool lake breezes all summer long and long beach walks are some of the unique benefits. Bike to the Coast Guard station, the ship canal, the nearby town. Read a book while the children play in the sand.
