We used The Cottage as our home base while moving our son to school at UAF. It was nice to have the large living space in which to organize and prepare his belongings (as we'd flown in from the Lower 48). It was convenient to be just 10 minutes from just about every place we needed to stop or to visit. The cottage was clean and met our needs perfectly.
Our family of four enjoyed the cozy upstairs, even taking turns hanging in the net hammock while reading. We enjoyed the birdsong, the yard for playing ball, and the jacuzzis for relaxing. We slept soundly, and truly enjoyed our stay!
Pros: conveniently located near all necessities, warm, easy to access/check in, property grounds were well maintained, clean, plenty of kitchen wareCons: one hot tub was dangerously hotExtra: we made good friends with the other guests on the property and even had a moose come in to the property while we were in the hot tub.Definitely would stay again
The property was beautiful. Our children loved the net in the cottage and playing in the snow in the yard area. Devin was very responsive and helpful when we had one concern that came up that was promptly dealt with. Would stay here again!
The cabin is has a new interior and is designed perfectly for a comfortable and cozy stay! The cabin kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to cook a meal, even though downtown is only about a 10 minute drive. We stayed in January so we did not explore the neighborhood on foot, but having a rental car made it easy to go to an from the downtown area. We saw a family of moose out the window on our first morning, this cabin provided an all-around Alaskan winter experience for us! Would highly recommend renting!
We ended our road trip in Fairbanks and pulled up to the cottage on a rainy afternoon. It was so cozy, even though on the small side it was definitely more spacious than the hotel rooms we had been staying in as a family of 4. My teens loved the net, I was able to Instacart ingredients to cook dinner- they had everything from a can opener to spices. I was very thankful for the coffee maker :) and the laundry set up was very thoughtful. I was able to wash a load & they even had soap. The private steam shower was relaxing & I also appreciated the shampoo & conditioner that were provided. The property was neat and very charming, I especially loved the tree houses! For the renters who complained about the sun coming in the door, I simply hung a towel over the door and gently shut it- problem solved! This place was everything & more than advertised.
The property & location were not exactly what I was expecting. We were in a weird industrial sort if neighborhood at more of a group rental than private. Having said that, it was lovely. Attention was paid to every detail (except a curtain for the window on the front door). We could not get ny 11 yr old niece our of the hammock, it was a huge hit!
