Sundog Cottage - Clean & Cozy - EV - Walk to Food & Beach - Fenced Yard for Dog

Stocked with the best and often forgotten essentials so you can arrive as you would to your own family beach house. We want you to be at home at Sundog the moment you pull into the driveway.

Cozy, clean and great vibe! This updated (Solar battery backup) cottage with a modern retro flair is in a very walkable location near the General Store, Coastal Kitchen, and main beach access. It is a sleepier section of the village with pastoral views from the fully fenced backyard and if you go to the far left corner of the front deck, depending on the growth of the trees down there, you get a peekaboo view of the ocean. There's even a doggy door for your (smaller) furry friend.

We've made the most of this sweet cottage, and it has an open feel and romantic, comfortable decor.

Each bedroom has a Queen bed.

Solar back up keeps the power on out here, and you know that's a big giant PERK.

ABOUT DOGS:

We LOVE DOGS (madly, I tell you) and are determined to be able to host them too, however we do have insurance restrictions on breeds (check if yours is a high profile breed), and limit two 2 dogs (3 if they're leeeetle) and 4 people max.

Backyard is fully fenced and secure with a charcoal BBQ grill, and picnic table. The birds are almost always singing here.

Front deck is huge, with Adirondack chairs and a a pup gate to keep everyone contained. We have the beach chairs, towels, umbrella, blanket, toys and all the things to make you happy down there in the sand.

We are clean and peaceful and serene, and hope that is what draws you in to stay with us!

Had a great relaxing time - can't wait to stay there again. The house is terrific, perfect for the pups and close to the beach which the dogs loved. The owner is fantastic, easy to reach and full of knowledge. She made some great recommendations for food and things to do.

Delightful Retro Cottage

Very cute cottage, clean, well stocked with towels and extremely comfortable bedding. Kitchen is well equipped and comfortable living area to relax. Perfect distance to walk to beach and general store. Lovely place to stay - will return!

Beach Cottage Zen

Such a lovely, clean, QUIET, comfortable cottage steps from the best dog-welcoming beach! Valerie is the hostess with the mostest! Your search is over. Rent this place (preferably with your pup) and become rested, inspired and transformed. A very special Beach Cottage. Valerie’s loving touch is all over it. Superb! We will be back!

Easy walk to beach

The house is clean and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we might need. Plus there were so many thoughtful extras like fresh flowers in the rooms, extra comfortable mattresses, beach chairs and toys, a doggy gate for the patio. I would definitely come back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sundog Cottage! It was very clean, cozy & comfortable. A huge plus in my book is that it is so dog friendly! With a secured backyard & the ability to secure the front deck, it cut a lot of worries when having a 4-legged companion along for the trip. We were welcomed w/sweet touches upon arrival… garden bouquet of flowers on the kitchen island, beautifully bright marigolds throughout the cottage, local goat cheese & butter (which was perfect since I had forgotten mine at home!) & farm fresh eggs. I loved that we could make a meal “at home” yet also be able to take a nice walk to the Coastal Kitchen for a meal, followed by a Salted Caramel Soft Serve Cone at the general store. It’s a nice walk down to the beach, especially if you walk thru the neighborhood! Everyone we met was so welcoming & friendly. My pup & I enjoyed our morning walks together ea morning after grabbing coffee at the general store. I’d highly recommend a stay at Sundog Cottage and we thank, Valerie for making our stay so comfortable! We will definitely be back!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Sun Dog Cottage is a very special spot. Lovely and bright accommodations. I was delighted that the pictures matched the reality (which sadly is often not the case)! The home was well-appointed, cozy, charming, and clean. The host was AMAZING - so communicative and easy to work with. Her welcome basket of local items was a beautiful touch. We will be back.

Can a trip to the beach be a transformational experience?

Yes—it can at Sundog!! This little place is magical. Deer walk right by you in the field behind the house. Owls hoot at night. The ocean is a block away. Dillon beach is like a well held secret and Sundog is the place to stay. Thank you a thousand times for sharing your home and me and my dog BeBe give you 100000000 stars.

Perfect cottage with a delightfully equipped kitchen.

Sundog cottage was perfect for our intention of getting away from hectic schedules and get in tune w/ nature and have fun, family bonding time as we prepare to become empty nesters in September. The cottage was the perfect distance from the beach and balanced beach time and cottage time on the deck or preparing delicious healthy meals in the fully equipped kitchen. We became reacquainted with the game clue and were reminded that the simple things can bring great joy!

EXCELLENT COTTAGE IN DILLON BEACH

We have stayed in Dillon Beach several times, sometimes renting a big house with family and friends, and sometimes a small house with family. This one was absolutely perfect for a weekend there with one teenager and two dogs. We loved being a short walk to the beach, and the cottage was remodeled and perfectly appointed. It was darling! We loved it! (Truly 4 person max; we had 3 this time.). It was great to be able to let the dogs out to do their business in the small fenced in yard, and to sunbathe on the deck. And we ALL enjoyed the beach, of course. It is the best dog friendly beach around, and the remoteness makes it feel like you really got away from the Bay Area. Valerie was amazing, great communication and always responsive. We will be back!

Wonderful dog friendly cottage

We had a great time at Sundog Cottage. Our four legged friends gave it a gold star, they loved the dog friendly beach so much, no leash required. The beach is huge and we spent two hours walking it with our pups every morning. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possible need and Valerie is an amazing host. You do need to be fairly fit and able as the cottage is up a hill from the beach although it’s only a 5mins walk. You can drive down and pay the $10 weekdays and $15 weekend parking rate. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evenings after exploring the surrounding area and eating lots of yummy seafood. We are Scottish and the area reminded us so much of home. We will definitely return.

I thoroughly enjoyed a weekend stay at Sundog Cottage with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and both our dogs in early October! Valerie left the cutest & thoughtful selection of welcome goodies for my niece and dog toys for the pups. With a fully equipped kitchen, we enjoyed the ability to prepare dinners in - BBQ hamburgers one night & grilled shrimp tacos the next. The pups appreciated the fully secured & safe back patio for fresh air, potty duties & taking in all the scents of prior visitors. With comfortable & cozy beds and linens, restful sleep was enjoyed by all! On our last evening we took in a beatiful bonfire sunset on the beach with a healthy dose of s’mores! A first for my niece. Overall, with the comforts of Sundog, special moments and many memories were made with my brother & his family. I highly recommend the Sundog Cottage and I look forward to visiting again!

Wonderful dog-friendly cottage

Sundog Cottage was the perfect escape from the heat for 2 humans and 2 dogs. The Cottage is adorable and so many things about it made us smile. The dogs loved the backyard and the fluffy blankets, and we loved the wonderful kitchen, comfy beds, linens etc. We can't wait to go back.

Beautiful and so comfortable!

My mom, 7 yo daughter, dog, and I stayed at Sunday for a ‘girls weekend’. Valerie was by far the most welcoming and kindest host I’ve worked with for a vacation rental (and I do this at least 4 times a year, through various platforms.) The house is beautifully decorated and totally clean, the beds are SO comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked, and the attention to detail is impeccable. Also, the fenced yard with a dog door is a great bonus for dog owners, and I don’t think I’ve seen it at other Dillon Beach rentals!

Trip down memory lane

We dream of a world that comes together in unity. Where all are included and none despised. So rather than just dream about it, we made our own little space among the big space, and called it The Sundog.

Fun fact: We care for orphans and special needs children in India, as well as provide clean drinking water in villages that have none. In this way we peacefully contribute to the world, and your stay with us will contribute there as well.

Sundog is not just a quick "pack it in and turn it over over" vacation rental. We are neighbors, and deeply love our little treasure of a community.

The house is precious. It just feels "different" . Better, somehow. Like, a best friend.
