About the host
Hosted by Lori Dubczak
I am Norskedalen's Executive Director. I truly love to share the beauty, the history, the natural resources of Norskedalen with every guest! It is especially delightful when a guest shares the experience of looking out the kitchen window as they fix their morning cup of coffee to see a family of deer still sleeping in the cabin's backyard!
Why they chose this property
The Farmhouse was built by the Skumsrud Family, as their patriarch Nils was one of the earliest settlers in Vernon County. In fact, the original one-room log cabin still stands on the property, not far from the Farmhouse! A number of historic buildings, also on the property, create a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.
What makes this property unique
While the Farmhouse was built in the early 20th century, it is completely modern and cozy. You can literally watch wildlife from the sofa in the living room as you gaze out the picture window. An outdoor walking tour is available on the property, so you'll be able to see details of all the buildings as well as learn of the development of the family farm that was so prevalent just a couple of generations ago. Plus, you'll have access to Norskedalen's main campus with all the hiking trails and museum galleries during your visit!
