Beautiful place in the mountains. Newly renovated, nice location, but a few annoying things.

I certainly appreciate the feedback and wanted to openly address the honest and constructive feedback you offered privately so that other guests may benefit. We really wish we could provide a grill for our guests, but the risk of bear activity is too great to offer that amenity. The town and DEC have both reported a lot of bear activity in the area and with the natural food shortages they are becoming less and less cautious about pursuing anything that remotely smells like food. Freshly prepared food hot off the grill is not exactly the best deterrent. Rather than risk it we just disclose that a grill is not provided in the listing. This could be subject to change in the future if the town recommends that it’s safe to do so. Regarding the other annoyances you mention, those all seem to be technologically based and could probably benefit from better foresighted instruction on my part. You mentioned the TV’s losing internet connectivity, the control panel on the hot tub, and the control panel on the dishwasher. While all three of those amenities were fully functional without deficiency, I can see now that their operation is not always self-explanatory. Although I was accessible via phone, email, and text, I did help walk you through those procedures with an expeditious response, I can understand that could be an annoyance from taking time away to relax. I will take this advice to heart and put together some tips and tricks in a user manual and locate that information nearby the devices and/or provide them in the listing and welcome message. I hope future guests will benefit from my implementation of your suggestions. Thank you for helping make my place better.
This cabin, checked every box that was needed for a perfect peaceful, relaxing, unwinding, recharging weekend get away for my wife and I. A must hike owls head mountain. Absolutely amazing. So much to do both directions just down the road from this location.
The cabin was extremely clean. Felt just like home. The hot tub was fabulous on a cold evening. Will definitely look into for future weekends.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Lovely interior with Adirondack themed decor & furnishings; several minor maintenance issues that needed to be addressed.
The Lockley system was impossible to figure out, but our host was quick to help. The cabin was cozy and clean and in a great location. Easy to get to Long Lake and other attractions. Some minor repairs are needed to the property. The rug in the living area has curled edges, which is a tripping hazard; several electrical outlets did not work and the shed was full of the last tenant's trash.

Hi Lois, although we weren’t able to provide the 5-star experience that the majority of our guests are accustomed to experiencing, I sincerely appreciate your feedback and the kind words about the home and location. I’d like the opportunity to address those concerns so that future guests may benefit from fuller clarity. I agree, the Lockly smart lock is a tricky one. We installed that lock over a year ago when there was a chip shortage on the Schlage locks we’re accustomed to using which are much more straightforward and reliable. I took several hours to come up with what I thought were all the scenarios a guest could run into and then put together ‘Helpful Door Lock Info’ which I provide in my welcome message for all guests. Although it addresses the potential problems, that doesn’t always stop technology from throwing us for a loop. This is why I make sure to always be by my phone for your check-in and provide a manually retrievable backup physical key. As you mentioned, I was able to remotely let you into the cabin on more than one occasion within a minute of you attempting to enter. After the second time I gave you the scroll code to access the physical key that you could use for the duration of your stay out of convenience. Regarding the trash, I’m sorry you had to come upon the overflow in the locked shed. This was a one-time isolated event whereby my PM was not able to get to the cabin between reservations on account of the aftermath of his mother’s home being washed out in the recent town-wide devastating floods and subsequently tearing his bicep and not being able to lift anything, including garbage. In an incredible stretch of terrible luck I cut him some slack and gave him the time he needed to recover from his injury and helping out his mother. You’re absolutely right about the rug so thank you for that feedback. I’ve taken immediate action as of this morning in the purchase of a new one. My PM usually tapes down the one problem corner or pins it under the couch, but it’s clear now that it’s at the end of its useful cycle so I have ordered a new one which should be ready to go in a week. Can you please contact me and let me know which outlets were not working? If it’s anything other than a breaker needing to be switched back on (we get frequent storms) which is usually the case, then I’d like to get an electrician out there to diagnose and resolve. I thank you for your thoughts and suggestions and hope to continue to provide a top-quality experience for future guests. We’d love to have you back again so you can see the difference.
This place was very clean, comfy beds, nice linens. For a rustic cabin, the interior was very updated with great appliances and all needed kitchen essentials. Ice maker was not working or not hooked up, as such would suggest adding a couple ice cube trays.
Multiple heating sources which were great. We preferred the wood stove, and outdoor fire pit very enjoyable. There was plenty of wood provided. This place so close to snowmobile trail, we would love to return in winter season. Our dog loved walking the woods, and to Buttermilk Falls just down the road, a must see!

We were excited to stay in Long Lake, but unfortunately, the exterior of the home wasn’t prepared for guests. The entire yard was overgrown with weeds and tall grass, making the walking paths, deck, and fire pit area nearly unusable. The hot tub was promoted as a feature but had a thick layer of dust and was nearly empty. It wasn’t guest-ready, and while the host gave us steps to prepare it, we didn’t feel it should be our responsibility. The host did respond and arranged for a landscaper, but they didn’t arrive until our last day of a 5-day stay. We also had issues with the fridge—it wasn’t working, and we lost food before realizing. The host instructed us to unplug it and leave it open to air out, which again felt like something that should have been handled before arrival. A small backup fridge was available, but we didn’t use it.That said, the inside of the house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were cozy, and I was able to work comfortably while my family explored the area. With better property upkeep and prep, this place could offer a much better experience.
My family and I stayed at Pinecone Place to celebrate Thanksgiving. Our party included four adults, one teenager, and our pup.
Our family has stayed at different rentals over the years but this was the best one yet! Pictures accurately depict this beautiful cabin located right on Long Lake. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and well stocked the cabin was(especially the kitchen). We informed the host that we would be celebrating Thanksgiving here and a gravy boat was kindly left for us! It was a great space for us to eat, play games, and enjoy nature. We would love to come back again, probably in warmer weather so we could make more use of the beautiful outdoor spaces as well.
Sometimes photos don't always reflect the truth of the listing. Not in this case, in fact this property outshines the photographs. It is charming , rustic, clean, well decorated to match the surrounding area. It was also well stocked with plenty of utensils, pots & pans, dishes and glassware for a large family dinner. All the appliances are brand new, and the fridge has an ice maker that kept up with our daily and nightly "sipper" needs. The 2 beds seem to have new mattresses and the trundle bed was very comfy for my 80 yr old father in law. The owner was very responsive to all of my inquiries. My only regret is I didn't take advantage of the wonderful hot tub on the screened in porch !! We will definitely be looking to stay here again , Pinecone Place has everything you need for a nice get away in the ADKS !
