I’ve never left a negative review; nor have I ever been negatively reviewed as a guest. I booked this unit to visit our son but then realized it was not where he recommended. I reached out to host within minutes after booking to explain the mistake but she responded no cancellation was possible. It struck me as harsh but it was my mistake so I let it go. We were still excited for our visit. We had an awful experience. For 2 of 4 days, there was a “concrete restoration” project in the garage directly below this 1st fl unit involving constant drilling into concrete & metal that was so loud you could hardly carry on a conversation. It actually scared our grandkids so we had to leave for the day until the work finished.When it continued into the 2d day,I sent the host videos of the noise & dust while the crew was drilling.She characterized it as “general maintenance” but said she’d reach out to VRBO to see what could be done.She offered an extra 4 days in the unit since it was open but this was not only impossible due to our jobs but we had no interest in being there when work resumed.I contacted VRBO upon returning & was told the host said we hadn’t complained during our stay. I sent them the same video I sent her which they acknowledged clearly documented the disruptive nature of the drilling. They “advocated for compensation” but said it was up to host since it was “post-stay” & she declined. So we ultimately received nothing from this callous host for this gross unfairness.
