Spacious Home with Private Beach Access

Our recently remodeled home looks amazing inside and out - remodeled kitchen and bathrooms (including brand new soaking tub!), new appliances and furniture. House has Central AC and a huge climate controlled 4 seasons room!

Shelter Harbor is a wonderful jumping off point for enjoying all that southern Rhode Island has to offer. In Shelter Harbor, you have easy access to private boat/kayak launches, private beach parking, swimming docks in our pristine saltwater pond (lifeguard in the summer), tennis and basketball courts, hiking trails that border Shelter Harbor, and amenities at the Shelter Harbor Inn.

Quonochontaug (Quonnie) salt pond is ideal for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, clamming, stand up paddling, bird watching, and wind surfing. Access to the pond is a 5 minute drive/bike ride or 10 minute walk. Private boat launches in Shelter Harbor make it easy for guests who bring small boats (canoes/kayaks), etc. to paddle their way across the pond to the stunning Shelter Harbor barrier beach. The beach can also be accessed by driving 10 minutes to a private beach parking lot near the Weekapaug Yacht Club. Renters get one car pass and 6 beach buttons.

Shelter Harbor is a short drive away from top-tier golf courses, Misquamicut Beach, Watch Hill (home to the historic Flying Horse carousel ), Mohegan Sun & Foxwoods casinos, Charlestown beaches, Mystic Aquarium, and the very quaint downtown Westerly. Also nearby are Narragansett, Newport, and Block Island.

Bring any of these and you will be happy as a quahog during your stay: bike, boat, swimsuit, books to read, beach umbrella, walking shoes, wine/margarita mix, kayak, gold clubs, canoe, clam rake, tennis racket, basketball, appetite for good food at the Shelter Harbor Inn, bubble bath, board games, binoculars for bird watching on the pond. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful. Love the open floor plan, plenty of room for the family to hang out together yet have their own space. The indoor/outdoor sunroom was our favorite spot! The location is perfect, close to the beach, downtown Westerly and Mystic CT.

The pictures of this house do not give it justice. Perfect for a family weekend or a week stay. Beautifully decorated with a well outfitted kitchen. Spent most of our time playing games on the screened 4-season space out back must be great for the summer.

Amazing house and location

My husband and I and our college aged daughter stayed here after coming to help move her home for the summer. It is a beautiful, private and well appointed home. We especially enjoyed the 4 season room to relax and play board games. Corrie was awesome in responding to questions and clarifications before our arrival. Kelly, the property manager was extremely helpful and always quick to respond when we had questions. We definitely plan to return!

Beautiful home

The home was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The property manager was very kind and helpful. The house is located in a quiet, well-established, walkable neighborhood with water access but is also within easy access to shopping and beaches. We were there in the off-season and so didn't make use of the great, expansive glassed-in patio with sitting room and dinng room. But we hope to return! Highly recommended.

Lovely home near the beach

The property is on a quiet street within walking distance of water in Shelter Harbor. The house is spacious with 2 large common areas and plenty of seating. The bathrooms are great with upscale showers. The house was immaculate and nicely furnished. Communication with the owners and the property manager was excellent. The owners were very gracious allowing us an early check in time. Downtown Westerly is close by with many shops, restaurants, coffee bars and a great bookstore. This is a great rental for families. We recommend this propertly highly.

An impromptu getaway

Had an amazing time at this property with my mom and kids —we chose to stay here last minute since our house is being painted and what a treat! The check-in process was super easy; the house is in immaculate condition and there was so much space for everyone. The open concept kitchen and the surprised little extra living room upstairs was awesome. The photos don’t do it justice. I can imagine this being a dream in the summer. Would love to return!

Nice house with access to beautiful beaches

Liked most things about the house. Good communication with owner and property manager. Minor issues unlocking door were resolving a timely fashion. Musty smelling porch despite the AC unit running constantly there precluded us from using it much. Not sure if they need to replace carpet. Perhaps it got wet in the past? Overall recommend this home, especially you have a bigger group of people.

We are happy you enjoyed your stay for the most part. The sunroom can get a bit of a stuffy odor when it's been closed up for a long time. We have never had issues with anything being musty or damp, and will investigate ASAP.

A Truly Special Experience!

True pride in ownership-this home is the perfect balance of modern coastal elegance and thoughtful personal touches! This property is everything a vacation home should be and more! It is immaculately clean with top of the line finishes, open floor plan, gorgeous kitchen with new appliances, newly refinished hardwood floors, luxury bathrooms, spacious sun-filled bedrooms with comfy beds and linens, a huge breezy sunroom, keyless entry, laundry, private fenced backyard, hot outdoor shower, and garage accessibility. There are large tvs with surround sound speakers, Keurig coffee maker with pods, propane fire pit with s’mores, beach passes, beach chairs and beach towels, kayak racks on the edge of Quonnie pond, gas grill, basketball and tennis courts, board games, and a curated collection of beautiful local interest books. A house manual tells you everything you need to know and suggests great places to go. Little notes guide you along your stay. And there is a guestbook to add your own special experience to the collection of memories! Corrie, the owner, is excited to share all that Shelter Harbor has to offer. She is wonderful to work with, responsive and professional, and handles everything with grace and ease. She truly wants her guests to have a perfect vacation. Kelly, the property manager, is friendly, helpful, and quickly answers any questions. Thank you for sharing your home with our family and pups. We had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again!

Perfect for young people.

This property was lovely in every way. Squeaky clean, nicely furnished, beds comfortable and bedding cozy, location is great for young families, and young people. Owner did warn me it had stairs so we were expecting that. Two things that surprised us were the height of the beds and we could not watch TV. We are not tech savvy and we do not have a streaming account of any kind. We're just simple cable folks. So there was really nothing wrong with the house...it was more that we had physical and technical challenges so really not the owner's fault. Twenty or thirty years ago, we would have rented this house every year for the fact that it is a great location, very clean, and well appointed. So blessed to have stayed there for a few days to attend a 90th birthday party. P&G

We recently bought this house so we could spend more time in Rhode Island where we have a lot of family. Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for our renters, we cannot be in Rhode Island year round, so we are able to share this special gem of a house in this awesome neighborhood with other people.

Why they chose this property

The house is light and bright inside and out and sparkling with new appliances and decor. There's central AC and your just minutes away from the beautiful Rhode Island waterfront.

What makes this property unique

The neighborhood is quiet and the house is on a dead end. You can hear a tiny bit of road noise from Route 1, but other than that it's a peaceful spot. If you like going for walks, you will love being in Shelter Harbor. The neighborhood streets are lovely and tree lined, and there are lots of interesting homes to look at.
