Our custom-built (2005) year-round second home will welcome you to experience summer relaxation, or the occasional winter getaway, in style. The house is near charming Wakefield, Narragansett, Westerly and several of RI's best beaches, and we include a beach pass to Matunuck Beach. The house, equipped with a residential elevator serving all levels, is a three-level “upside down” house with central AC and gas fireplace; the main living, decks and master bedroom are on the top floor for maximum views of Green Hill Pond and your private yard. Start your day with morning coffee in the tree-tops on the top deck overlooking the pond. Head out to explore the pond by kayak or canoe from your private dock. Spend a cozy winter day reading by the fire, or streaming the game on smart TV's, or cooking in the oversized kitchen. Come summer, you can canoe, kayak, or rent an outboard from a local marina to cross the pond to a private beach; or drive to a different gorgeous RI beach each day. Come home from the beach to an outdoor shower, then enjoy sunset cocktails on the roof deck with views to the ocean and Block Island. Cook your dinner on the outdoor gas grill or in the large, well-equipped kitchen with double ovens (convection optional), microwave, gas cooktop. Eat it on the covered deck or the large dining room. Then climb into comfortable beds in one of the four bedrooms (one king, two queens, two bunks) with the ocean waves in the background (or the quiet hum of air conditioning). The occasional rainy day? No worries! The upstairs living room is spacious for quiet reading, music (or napping), the downstairs living room has a smart TV with streaming, DVD, board games, etc. WiFi throughout the house. Mystic Seaport, Aquarium, Newport and more within a half hour’s drive. Our elevator serves all three levels so everyone can be included, and we have a Tesla Electric Vehicle charging station in the garage.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please wash towels the night before and as many loads of sheets as possible before your 10am departure.
Check for chargers, items on the clothes line on the lower deck or left in drawers.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
We urge all travelers to purchase Traveler's Insurance. We do not offer refunds for lost vacation days due to lost power, flooding or storm damage.
Note that our garage doors cannot be repaired (company out of business) so any damage to either door requires full replacement of both.

Lovely home and location with nice views. Large kitchen with plenty of dishes, utensils, etc. for all cooking needs. Close to great beaches and ice cream shops. Some of us went canoeing on the pond, which was nice. It would have been even better if we were able to swim in the pond.

Family Vacation

We go every year Our group keeps getting bigger as the grandchildren grow up, find girlfriends and marry. They just keep coming and going. This house was beautiful and served us just right. Close to beach and towns. Hope Matunuck Oyster House is open again next year. One of our favorites. Planning on returning next year.

Beautiful Home!

We went there for the week with our 3 grown children and their families. There was plenty of space and amenities for us all to be there and we weren’t crowded. Having the full size crib and high chair was a huge help! The house was clean and well stocked with everything you would need except food for the week. We really enjoyed it!!

Perfect family vacation spot

The house is spacious and lovely and the salt water pond location is wonderful. We enjoyed the bikes, kayaks and canoe as well as the beaches. The owners are very responsive and generous with supplies. All 9 of us had a terrific week!

As a frequent user of VRBO, I have learned to pay close attention to reviews. Here the reviews were very enthusiastic about the quality of the house and the attention to detail of the owners. Our experience confirmed that in every way. It is sometimes only a slogan to say "we treat you like a guest" but here it was true. Our group of six was intent on cooking for each other; the kitchen and its supplies were superior and we had a wonderful time making and serving meals. We recommend this house without reservation!

Lovely, Spacious Home in Idyllic Setting

Perfect dining room table and living room for a family of nine, yet plenty of space for quiet time alone. Very well equipped kitchen; didn’t need all the utensils we brought from home. Quiet woodland setting with beautiful view of pond, yet close to beaches. Everyone of all ages had a wonderful time.

Amazing house an location

Owner was very helpful through the process an always responded immediately with answers to any questions. House was well maintained with lots of extras, well worth the rental price. Pond was great for paddling. This was my 5th year renting in RI an this was the best location ever, looking forwarding to returning next year.

Vacay at Green Hill Pond

We had a truly wonderful week. We had a wedding on Saturday and we were able to check in earlier, which was a lifesaver!! I highly recommend this house! We were a family of six and a two year old. The outside decks were greatly appreciated!

FANTASTIC VACATION SPOT!!!!

This house was everything it said and more!!! Pond access for the kayaks was perfect as was the private beach that we paddled to. Kitchen stuff, linens and towels were of top quality and there was plenty of utensils and cooking hardware to keep everyone happy. We were a group of 10 and this house had room for everyone to spread out!!! I would highly recommend this property and will try to return here ourselves.

Peaceful vacation on Indigo Point Rd

Beautiful house and great location! Easy access to a private beach by boat and also passes to the town beach. Kayaking on the pond was wonderful. The house was very spacious with a quiet living room and then a tv in the downstairs living room where the kids could enjoy playing games or watch movies. It was a very relaxing vacation and we are missing the beautiful views of the pond already!

Amazing Vacation Home!

We had a wonderful vacation in this lovely home with our extended family: 5 adults and 3 children ages 3 - 13. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, and the house had every convenience you could imagine. We especially enjoyed the beach passes to the South Kingston Town Beach, the boat dock, the elevator (wonderful convenience for luggage, groceries and seniors!), the views from the deck, and the amazing kitchen. It was our first time vacationing in South Kingston, and we can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful in every way

This is a wonderful house and situation. We enjoyed every moment of our two weeks there. We entertained many guests, all of whom loved the house. The house itself is lovingly decorated and very well supplied. The view peaceful and restorative and many amenities available. We spent lots of time at the beach (for which beach passes are provided) as well are much time just "hanging" at the house with friends and family. A lovely experience!

I almost don’t want to let others know how great this place is…

I feel like by sharing my experiences everyone will want to stay here and it won’t be available for a future stay! This house was an absolute DREAM, and had everything you could possibly think of. The kitchen is spectacular and the upstairs is a great gathering place for families and friends. The views are nothing short of stunning. Sandy and Bernie are A+++ hosts who were friendly, responsive, and so very thoughtful in the way they had everything covered. By far the best rental we’ve had in RI.

Pond side serenity

This is our second stay in this beautiful home. It has a wonderful view of Green Hill Pond and is a short car ride to a very nice beach and play ground. This home was perfect for our family to spread out in or enjoy each others company in either of the 2 spacious family room areas. With an inverted floor design, we were able to fully appreciate the views from the 3rd level living area or deck. The very private neighborhood was a big plus. Much kudos to the owners who were very gracious and accommodating.

Second year didn’t disappoint!

We stayed at this beautiful property for the second year in a row and had a wonderful time. The house is clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a stunning view of the pond and tons of deck space. The kitchen is well equipped and great for cooking and sharing a meal as a large family group. There is ample space for lounging and for sleep (we shared the home between 5 adults and 4 small children). The home is close to the most beautiful beaches and easily accessible to so many great spots in RI. We have zero complaints and will definitely be back!

Our home base is in Hartford, Connecticut but we frequently escape to our home-away-from-home in Rhode Island, and enjoy traveling in our retirement. We built this -- Bernie's Dream House -- in the first year of our marriage in 2005 and both house and marriage are big successes. The house is large, to welcome various groupings of our 6 children and spouses, and 16 grandchildren, and numerous friends. After a walk, paddle on the pond or a day at the beach, we like to gather with friends or curl up with lots of books, whether on the deck or by the fire.

Why they chose this property

Bernie dreamed of a house near the beach his whole life, and having lived in Rhode Island in the past he gravitated to the beautiful RI beaches. He found the land in 2002 and started designing the house before he retired, and by the time Sandy came on the scene it had gone through five architects and numerous design phases. It was worth the wait -- the result is spectacular yet comfortable, expansive yet cozy in each area of the house.

What makes this property unique

Many families choose to rent our house because we have an elevator serving all three levels, so people who are less mobile can be part of the family vacation. Because it is our dream house, it has special touches like beautiful dark Brazilian hardwood and solid oak floors. One of the most striking features is our deck area -- there are 250 square feet of deck on the guest room level, an equal amount on the top main floor, a 150 square foot 'crow's nest' deck at roof level from which you can see the ocean and Block Island. (One of our carpenters assigned to the deck commented, 'There is as much room on these decks as in the whole house!')
