Agate's Cabin - A Wolf Crossing Cabin next to Yellowstone National Park
Wolf Crossing - Agate Cabin is a small 1 bedroom cabin in Silver Gate approximately 3000' from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone and approximately 3 miles from Cooke City on Highway 212 (National Park Road and the Beartooth Highway). A basic cabin with a wolf theme. It has a bath with a shower, a queen -size bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster oven and a coffee maker. There is small front porch. WE HAVE JUST ADDED SATELLITE TELEVISION WITH 150 CHANNELS AS WELL AS WIRELESS INTERNET FOR YOUR LAPTOP - via Star Link! No reviews yet but we have 2 adjacent places with excellent reviews. Also, a host is on site for information or to hire for hiking/fishing/hunting help - or to cater your dinner.
There is a general store in town within walking distance as well as the Log Cabin Restaurant and the Stop the Car Store and the Silver Gate General Store. A mountaineering store is also within walking distance. Soda Butte Creek is located across the road approximately 600' away. In addition to Yellowstone National Park, we are surrounded by the Absaroka Wilderness as well as the Gallatin National Forest. Great hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking and wildlife viewing abounds. This small cabin makes a quiet and unique base-camp for a world of outdoor activities. Please note that it is an old hand built cabin. We have pine martens and foxes around constantly eating mice. I blame their laxness if any mice should appear.

Cute little cabin. Great place to stay but definitely not cleaned overly well, toilet seat was broken, and parking is terrible. Even with those issues would stay again though.
Stayed here multiple times. It is super close to the park. Cabins are very rustic and low key. Wifi is valuable since there is no cell service but the password provided didn’t work. Hint: all lowercase.
The location is perfect if you are spending time in Lamar Valley. Very small rustic cabin, but it worked well for our visit to Yellowstone. Be aware that early in the season there is not much open in Silvergate or nearby Cooke City. Plan dining accordingly. There is a small refrigerator in the cabin, and a coffee pot and microwave.

We were supposed to stay 2 nights but left early morning after first night. I'm sorry to say therewas so much old dust in house and musty smell. Toilet seat broken. Didn't feel clean at all. It's such a cute place but definitely needs some upkeep. We did enjoy the evening visit from beautiful fox.
My husband and I stayed in this cabin the first part of August 2024. It was close to everything we wanted to do on this trip. We were able to enjoy the deck outside and get some much needed rest and relaxation while we were there. Would definitely stay here again.
Lodged name needs to be added to listing, was slightly confused which one we booked. Other then that great place to stay

This property is not as pictured. No barbecue grill. Outside run down. Toilet lid not attached and dangerous. Gash in bathroom door. Large stains on area rugs. Shower and sink are nice. Bed linens good. Bed decently comfortable. Cinder blocks in a pile by driveway and at base of steps. Grass overgrown.
Great location for visiting the northeast side of Yellowstone and the Beartooth and Chief Joseph Scenic Byways. This cabin is perfect for 1 person, two is doable with minimal space. It has good internet, a comfortable bed, and plentiful hot water with good pressure. We did enjoy our stay.
Property was just as described. It is small, but had everything we needed! It’s hidden away in beautiful trees and is a very quiet, peaceful location. John was helpful and friendly and definitely an asset to the property!
We had a good time stay in wolf crossing, overall it was convenient location to Yellowstone, also the property was little bit smaller then we expected when we were look online listings. The property was clean, and limited amenities. Parking was quite easy for us. I will recommend who is coming for vacations, and locations is the best.

Beautiful setting, friendly and gracious owner.
Finding place and parking not at all obvious for night arrival. I recommend arriving in daylight.
Friendly and gracious owner made up for above. If I return to the area, I will happily stay there again.
My daughter & I enjoyed our stay and would rent there again. The only negative I have, If you can call it that, is they need another outdoor garbage can, the one they had filled up fast.

Cabin was essentially one room with 200 sq feet! Porch was nice and enjoyable in the evenings. Open front door and small refrig and microwave were behind open door as was lavoratory .Bathroom was sectioned off corner of the room with small shower and toilet. No closet but clothes rack and plastic clothes hamper were up against the wall OUTSIDE BATHROOM. 2 bath towels were provided. no wash cloths and only 1 hand towel were provided for a 7 day stay.. Small table and 2 chairs. Bed was comfortable. Cabin was very difficult to find. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS RENTAL AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS STAY!
Glen is great. the property manager is great. The place is nice and cozy, just very small. If you are planning to stay with others, the space will feel very cramped, but my partner and I found it doable. The plug-in fan didn't work though, so it was pretty warm in the summer. Beautiful area.

Small and dusty but close to the park
The cabin is quite rustic and small, difficult for two to get around in. Bathroom and sink were clean but the logs were dusty and there were lots of cobwebs. It was a bit tough on my allergies. It was a last minute booking and better than camping with the black flies.

Very helpful substitute host
Lawrence, who was filling in for John as host, was very hospitable. The cabin was comfortable and rustic, as expected, but while there were plates, bowls, and silverware to eat, there were no utensils or cutting board to prepare any meals. The description said there was a toaster but there wasn't one. The new satellite tv had no instructions on how to navigate the subscription channels or which ones were subscribed.
Very tiny space. Possibly 200 sq ft. The railing going up to the cabin needs repairs, both sides very wobbly. There is a musty smell I could not quite figure out. The toilet lid was broken, could not fix it. Latched window opens, but we had to get a stick from outside to hold it up. Fridge was dorm size, not enough space for much more than a few bottles of water. No place or way to cook a meal, unless you want to use the small microwave sitting on top of the small fridge. The bed was bouncy and uncomfortable. There is no air movement in this little shack, and no place within a 3 hr drive in any direction to buy a fan. There is a sunken divet in the floorboard, be careful, the rug covering it slips. The sink is close to the bed, a standard bathroom sink, and the directions left by the Host requested we wash our dishes before we leave. There was a 1/4 roll of toilet paper, and we looked in every little area for more and found none. Host said later there was some. We did not find it. Same for extra trash bags. We had planned on a 3 day stay, but got zero sleep the first night, and decided we were not 'hostel' style folks, and we left. We did follow the clean-up before you leave directions as requested. We did communicate the situation on our way out. Plastic chairs on porch are cracked. In parking area, there a bunch of busted concrete cinder blocks that make it hard to park close, so we found an open spot further down by entrance. Best thing we saw was a fox meandering.
This was a cute little cabin. We loved the area. Silver Gate and Cooke City were beautiful. Every morning and evening we had wildlife visitors outside the cabin and if you are a cheesecake fan, stop by The Bistro, you will not be disappointed.

Why they chose this property
We are right off the road but often have animals in the yard - pine martens, bison, moose, fox. You can walk to the store and restaurant in Silver Gate - or go on hiking down the Bannock Trail there right into Yellowstone! Soda Butte creek is across the road.
What makes this property unique
A real log cabin reportedly built in the 1930's. It's a great little place.
