Spent a week in this area and we all fell in love with it. The balcony, jacuzzi, and the proximity to everything was perfect. Great for a remote work getaway.
The house is beautiful, location is beautiful, and we very much enjoyed our weekend escape from the city. Sunset views from the decks were the highlight for all of us, thank you for sharing your home!

This house was perfect for our 2 families to meet up during the holidays. Plenty of room, comfortable beds, and a great property for the kids to run around. We didn’t even have to drive for hiking. Scott is an amazing host, he was very responsive to any questions we had. Thanks, we’d love to stay here again.

Thank you so much for Staying with us for the Holidays Nick! Being able to hike from the house is our favorite as well! Come back and stay again soon!
Had such a blast staying at this property for the weekend with friends! We really took advantage of all the cabin has to offer using the hot tub and having a little cornhole tournament in the backyard before lighting up the firepit at night. Scott was amazing at making sure we were all taken care of and even let us check in early. We will def be coming back!

Can't wait to make it up there. Had some confusion and had to cancel. Owners were very kind and did their best to help the situation. Thank you for your kindness 🙏
We have the most perfect time , the house was amazing , clean , cozy , beautiful , with everything we needed to celebrate my daughter’s birthday , Scott was very kind and available in case we needed him for any questions , I totally recommend this place 100% , we’re planning to go back on winter . Thank you Scott for being such a good host !!
We had a wonderful stay on our trip to Idyllwild. We were 2 families a dog and there was plenty of space for us all to stay comfortably. The kids had their own room with plenty of beds for sleeping and space for hanging out together. We enjoyed the TV room, and dining room for meals and puzzles. We ate out on the deck and enjoyed the gorgeous views. The hot tub was also great. Easy peasy. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and everything worked great at the house. The hosts were quick and responsive to emails, but we didn't need anything during out entire stay. Check out was also simple. We loved our stay!
We had a wonderful time staying at the Hideaway! We've been to Idyllwild multiple times and this has been our favorite stay by far. My husband and I visited with our three young children and we found the cabin to be clean, well appointed, and the perfect location. Our kids loved playing the board games and hanging out in the orange room which included two beds, a couch, and their own tv. They loved the hot tub and we enjoyed all the beautiful views and scenery on the property. Everything was clean and comfortable. This is the perfect place for a family trip, we enjoyed the comfort and kid-friendly atmosphere. My kids loved walking around the property. We even saw a mama deer and her twos fawns on our second to last day! My husband and I enjoyed how remote and secluded the cabin was while still being very close to town. The hosts were fantastic and responsive and made everything feel welcoming and comfortable. We are already looking forward to our next stay! Thanks Scott and Lucy!
Good location just wished the a/c worked when we were there
One of the hottest days ever up there someone should have checked and cooled the house down before we arrived. Other than that, it was a nice cozy place.

Unfortunately for the first time, the A/C broke. It had nothing to do with cooling the house down before arrival. I had a handyman ready to fix the A/C within 30 minutes, but Daniel refused. Shortly after they left, it was fixed and the AC was working. Cooled down to 68 from 85 within a couple hours. I am disappointed the guest did not give us the opportunity to fix the issue as we do everything in our power to fix any problems as fast as possible. This is our first negative review. we have over 50 5 star reviews between multiple platforms.
We selected Idyllwild to spend Thanksgiving week because it was between us and our coastal daughters. We are very grateful to have found this home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, the beds were comfy, the hot tub was terrific, and the kitchen had what we needed for our Thanksgiving feast. We hiked, we walked to town for the tree lighting celebration, we played corn hole and lots of board games, and had a great time! The owners were welcoming and attentive. I would recommend this home to everyone!

We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to host you and your family Dana! Your communication was great and you respected our house so much. Hope we get to host you all again same time next year!
We enjoyed the proximity to the national forest. There was still snow on the ground from a big storm the weekend before we arrived, but once it melted, we went on some beautiful, longer
hikes. The accommodations are well appointed, attractive, and very comfortable and cozy. The dogs loved the surrounding area, but it's not fully fenced, so if you have a dog that likes to chase rabbits or deer, better plan on keeping on the leash. There is lots of deck space with beautiful views. The beds were very comfortable... high quality linens, etc. I highly recommend!

Thank you so much Mary! We are so lucky to be right up against the National Forest! We take a lot of pride in our beds and linens, so glad you noticed. And yes, we have a couple gaps with out fencing, so keep an eye on those pups! But we do have a dog run as well if any guests needs :) Thank you and hope to host you all again!
This rental exceeded my expectations. This was our first time visiting Idyllwild and we were amazed at how beautiful it is. The Hideaway was absolutely beautiful and a perfect location to get away from a busy stressful life. The property was secluded enough to disconnect yet close enough to drive into the village and grab a coffee or a bite to eat. Scott and Lucy are amazing hosts. They were easy and quick to communicate with. Check-In instructions were a breeze and simple to follow. The property itself if just as described. Scott and Lucy go above and beyond to welcome guests. They pay attention to small details which I very much appreciated! Thank you Scott and Lucy for allowing us to disconnect from a busy life and slow down to enjoy the beauty of Idyllwild. If anyone is looking to book a getaway where you can relax and enjoy nature, this is the spot. Thank you Scott and Lucy for everything.
Can't say enough good things about the Hideaway! The cabin is situated on the South Western approach to Idyllwild, with stunning views from the deck and more just a short hike up the hill. There was snow and ice the week we were there and the owner was very communicative about the need for caution and chains. When people showed up without them, the neighbors were friendly and helped pack things up the hill to the cabin. Only met great people while there!
The cabin itself is large and spacious; 8 people were comfortable and had plenty of privacy. The space is elegantly and modernly appointed and every amenity mentioned on the listing was accessible and easy to use.
The hot tub worked perfectly, the heat in the cabin was on point, and it was so beautifully quiet at night.
With effortless access to park land, minutes from downtown Idyllwild and friendly hosts, we'll definitely be back to the Hideaway!

The views are one of our favorite parts of The Hideaway and we are thrilled to hear you had such a memorable stay! The amazing community in Idyllwild is one of the things that sold us on owning property here. Thank you so much for choosing us and we cannot wait to host you all again!
Secluded Paradise 90 min from SD. Perfect! Exactly as advertised. Wife and dog had a great time!
This cabin was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Idyllwild is a special place for both of us. We've been going there for over 25 years. I took her on a 4 day backing trip at laws camp on our first date! Including San Jacinto and taquiz peaks.
This place is awesome. Super nice. A new VRBO listing. Lots of new work done on the house. Kitchen, bathrooms, ameneties were all more than we expected. A big upgrade from the typical idyllwild A frame cabin.
My wife setup her mobile office in the "den" and I set mine up on the kitchen table. Our 110 pound German shepherd setup his office in front of the fireplace.
Hiking is our thing and having the national forest 50 feet from the front door was fantastic. First day was may valley trail for sunset. Rained the second day so we worked all day. Third day we hiked towards taquiz but not all the way. Taquiz peak from the cabin is doable with pre sunrise early start.
Jacuzzi was fantastic. We spent a lot of time in that thing.
There are other cabins nearby but are hidden well with forest/trees. Not the place to rent for loud groups.
The host was super easy to work with. They left us alone, just what we wanted. Thanks for the free post cards and stamps. Sent one to our daughter showing what her parents were up to without her.
This place will quickly become a popular VRBO listing!

The property was so clean. Easy to get in. Well stocked with plenty of towels for spa. Spa was large accommodating all six of us at once. Communication with Scott was the best. He was always so responsive and helpful even before we reserved the unit.
The house is close to the village, but feels secluded. We really enjoyed sitting around the fire & soaking in the hot tub!

About the host
Hosted by Scott Netzel
Hi! My name is Scott. My wife Lucy and I are from the east coast but landed in Los Angeles 15 years ago. We love the ocean but wanted a getaway in the mountains. We were fortunate enough to find a gem of a house set on 1 acre of land so we could enjoy the outdoors and relaxing and star gazing. We are so excited to share that with others who share the same love of the outdoors as well.
Why they chose this property
Set on 1 acre up in the mountains, we get the amazing crisp air, beautiful views and most of all, seclusion. We are set away from any major road or highway. Just listen to the birds chirp while sipping on your coffee or enjoy a drink in the hot tub while stargazing.
What makes this property unique
1 acre. 3 decks and a patio. Very secluded. Walk out of the front gate and you are in the San Bernardino National Forest.
