Mountain Retreat 10 minutes from downtown Spearfish.

Higgins Gulch is a little country road that meanders west between 2 mountain ranges before turning south where it opens up to meadows and pine covered hills bordering both sides. Although you are only 10 minutes from downtown Spearfish it will feel a million miles away. A hikers paradise! Guests will have access to a 20 acre mountain lot with walking paths and unparalleled views of 1.2 million acres of forest service land.

Our mountain retreat was built in 2022 and features 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 family rooms, multiple decks and amazing views. The property features a 14’ high rock wall with a spring fed pond along with our waterfall. This Property backs to Forest Service land for endless exploration. So whether you are enjoying your morning coffee out on the deck, napping in the hammock, soaking in the hot tub under the stars, or enjoying a movie on one of the 2 TV's, you will be in Heaven!

We have added privacy & light-blocking blinds on the main level, upgraded our wifi and added a cell booster so now calls are easy to make & receive while on your vacation!

A 3 car garage will house your vehicles and for those who find stairs difficult can use the elevator to the main floor. We also have plenty of additional parking on the adjoining lot for all your trailers, toy haulers RV's or motorcycles.

Great family getaway

The house was the perfect size for our family! The owner stopped by and told us about hiking trails located by the property and the other properties they are building. We had such a great time and would definitely come back again!

5 Nights in the Black Hills

A great place for families with kids. There are five bedrooms and a bonus room on the first floor for air mattresses. We had a few bits of feedback during our stay and the property managers were very attentive.

Spacious property with plenty of room inside and out. Had a faulty AC unit upon arrival. Roger / Owner and Faye / Booking agent were very responsive and had us up and cooled down within a couple days. Roger was outstanding to work with, pleasant demeanor, and very knowledgeable about the area. Gas stations and good places for chow very close in Spearfish. Incredible views with a nice breeze after the sun sets. Pet friendly was a plus! We will book with Roger again next year!

Great experience

Faye’s place is great. We had a wonderful time, the check in and check out process was great and the property was really well equipped. There was plenty of room for our large group and the hot tub was great. We had a wonderful time and would book again!

Nice rental for family gathering.

Faye and Roger were great to work with. There were some water issues with the house because of the bad weather but it was taken care of as quickly as possible. We were able to have a nice family Christmas. The only thing was the heating in the basement. It never felt very warm, but part of that was probably the extreme cold weather in the area. The space heaters just couldn’t keep up. Nice property and house for a vacation.

Beautiful place

Our stay was wonderful. My family celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary and had the best time. Faye was a great host. She was quick to respond, friendly, and included personal touches to make us feel welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to others!

Wonderful stay

Me and my team visited this South Dakota stay while working at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Location is very close to Sturgis for anyone renting during the rally, and the views and wildlife from the property are amazing. Faye was very quick to respond with any questions we had and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. Would definitely stay here again!

Mountain cabin

Really enjoyed time at this place, nice and quiet cabin with a good view, ample space for large or multiple families. Loved grilling outside on the wrapped around deck and cooking in a very functional kitchen for my family and guests.

Unfinished home.

Home was unfinished and lacking things that were advertised. Driveway was unfinished and very steep. Three car garage, but could only use 2 stalls as building supplies were in other stall. We didn't get any welcome package until too late. No keys to unlock the doors if we left the property. Had to clean refrigerator and no space was provided for groceries. Had to hang the large mirror in the bath as was left unsafe sitting on edge of counter. No foosball table as advertised. Didn't t have wifi password until after we got to the vrbo, and didn't have very good reception, so couldn't communicate. When we finally got wifi was very weak. Plastic was still on some smoke detectors, so don't know if they would have been able to detect smoke. Found dirt and mice droppings in some of the dresser drawers. Professional cleaning was not done before we came into the home. I believe this was first time vrbo owner and first time manager. I requested cleaning fee and 1 nights stay to be refunded, but was only refunded 1 nights stay. We actually should have been refunded 50% of what we paid for all the time loss on communicating and rediscovering how to run things with no instructions. Also lost another day on cleaning everthing. Wished we would have been notified ahead of time that the home was incomplete and we would have looked for other accommodations.

With so much to do outdoors both in the summer and winter, it is the ideal place to visit on your vacation. My husband and I enjoy hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, hunting and playing pickelball. It brings us great joy to be able to share the beauty of Higgins Gulch and the surrounding areas with others.
