As you turn onto Thatcher Mill you'll feel the comfort of this mountain retreat. The tranquil drive on a well paved road ends at 9447 Thatcher Mill Road . This 12 year well built home sits back off the road and invites you to relax and enjoy what the Lake McCumber / Mt Lassen area has to offer. The sounds of silence radiate through the trees and gives you the sense of calm. Once inside you'll find a remodeled home with amenities to make your stay as enjoyable as you can make it. A large kitchen with counter seating and a breakfast nook for gathering. A comfortable down filled sofa for relaxing in the family room with vaulted ceiling. A master bedroom and master bathroom with an over sized tub for soaking after a day exploring the surrounding hiking trails. And the second bedroom has a bunk bed with double sized lower mattress. A separate full hallway bathroom too. The backyard is private and quiet as can be. Listen to the squirrels chasing each other or the occasional distant bark of a neighbors dog. It's my happy place for you to call home while you stay and enjoy. By the way, it's a paved road all the way to the driveway, so don't be afraid to bring the Mercedes or even your sports car. Lots to do without having an off road vehicle

Quiet place in the woods located ten minutes from the north entrance of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Really nice house with lots of amenities. Highly recommend staying here.
We loved our time at the cabin. The backyard is serene, the cabin is stocked with anything you could ask for, and the hosts are incredibly responsive. Highly recommend staying here.
This house is cozy and comfortable. It is very well stocked and has everything you could need for your stay. It's in a great location to visit Lassen Volcanic. The owners communicated frequently and effectively. My family enjoyed their time here.
We stayed here for a couple of nights to explore Lassen and the surrounding area. The place was lovely: charming, clean, and had everything we needed. The host was very communicative and responsive. An additional perk was that we got to see a deer and her fawns close up on the property a couple of times. Would definitely recommend!
We stayed at the cabin for a weekend trip to visit nearby Lassen Volcanic National Park, and everything was fantastic! There were so many thoughtful details throughout the cabin that made it extra comfortable. We also loved how quiet and peaceful it was, and enjoyed seeing wildlife wander through the back yard. My 13 year old liked it here so much, he wished we could stay the whole summer there!
One of the most thoughtfully supplied rentals we've ever stayed in, close to the park, on a quiet street set back from the highway. Todd is very responsive and provides very helpful information. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!
Wonderful place to relax after hiking around Lassen Volcanic National Park. All necessities provided and then some. All in all a very comfortable place in a quiet location. I recommend!
This place was perfect for our visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park! We loved the layout of the house. The owner thought of all the details in the kitchen, the house, and even outside on the property. Communications and instructions were spot on. We would definitely stay here again if we have the another chance to visit Lassen!

We only wish we could've stayed longer!! This is an amazing cabin in the woods. It is well-stocked, spacious, and comfortable. There are little added touches that really make it special hammocks in the back, a bottle of wine, coloring books for the kids, and maps of the area. I would highly recommend! Communication was easy and quick.
Absolutely perfect. It was clean and they were very thoughtful. Two Adults and 3 kids stayed for 2 nights and everything was supplied and thought of. Highly recommend
From start to finish - working with Todd and Becky and staying at this beautiful cabin, is exactly what all travelers look for when working with VRBO ! Many Thanks Todd !
We had detailed messages long before we arrived and knew what to expect, including parking. The property is cozy and clean, especially looking out over the snow. We loved the couches and the bedrooms. It was exactly what we hoped it would be :)
This place is a gem! More amenities than we needed. Quality cookware and kitchen supplies, new towels and linens. We basically just slept and ate there, during our first leg of our vacation. Convenient to Lassen and Whiskeytown. We would stay there again!

Of our two week trip, this was the best property, we have seen. The 20-minute drive to the north entrance of Lassen means less stress in the morning. Getting ready to get out the door. This place was comfortable and clean and the house was very easy to get a hold of.

The property was quiet, clean and cozy, it's a home away from home. Loved the thoughtful gesture. We enjoyed our stay. We saw deers and rabbits in the backyard while we were making smores.
The least fave of the kiddos was the subpar wi-fi but it turned out for the best since we were able to watch DVD movies together, there were plenty of movies to choose from. Bring board games or playing cards to appreciate quality time w/ friends and family after you've roamed the great outdoors.
Our family of 4 stayed 3 nights at this property near Lassen Volcanic NP as part of a summer vacation trip. It was the perfect size for our family. Proximity to the park and other outdoor adventures was great. The inside of the property looks to be in the middle of some cosmetic upgrades, but that didn’t interfere with our stay. We loved having a well-stocked kitchen to cook meals, and use of a washer and dryer. We didn’t really utilize the outdoor space due to the high temperatures while we were there. Although listed, I’m not sure there is a hot tub for guest use. There is a gas fireplace and sitting area on the back side of the cabin. We saw some deer and fox in the back yard. We like the location and amenities of this property—it even gave us a chance to get away from phones and TV for a bit. We would stay at this property again.
Excellent location for access to Lassen southern entrance
Home is in a great spot to access the southern entrance to Lassen, just make sure the Lassen highway is open when you book. We were surprised to find the highway was still about half closed in the high elevations due to remnant snow still not cleared in mid-June. This meant less access to the park, but most annoyingly a 2 hour(!) drive to get to the North Entrance of the park. This of course is not the fault of the property owners, just a heads up about the location. If the highway is open, the location is perfect for Lassen.
Be aware that restaurants are few and far between in this area, and those that are nearby have limited hours. Red Bluff and Redding offer plenty of dining options, but a good 1.5 hour round trip to either.
The home itself is adequately equipped for a comfortable stay. The owners readily admit that Wifi is slow, so be prepared for that. The kitchen is well-equipped and washer and dryer worked great. I would recommend the owners put more (and new) box fans in the home to help with air circulation. The house stays relatively cool, but can get stagnant and the sole existing box fan was extremely noisy. The bunk bed also needs repairs, some of the welds have snapped leaving sharp edges that nearly got my child's hand. Not a huge deal, but definitely areas to improve.
The property is in the woods and wonderfully quiet. We saw numerous deer wandering through. Nice fire pit out back to hang out. Overall, a nice property that I would book again.
