We had great time at Mike's beautiful house near Shingletown. The house can not be cleaner, it is spacious, well equipped, it has everything you could ask for. We loved our stay and be back hopefully soon.
It was a wonderful stay at this rental. The owner was very communicative before we arrived and provided a lot of info to ensure the best stay possible. Clean, quiet, large house outfitted with all you need to escape on a nice vacation.
We spent 3 nights in this awesome home in June. The weather was warm but the house stayed comfortable despite no air conditioning. We were struck by how quiet the neighborhood is—truly peaceful. The home is close enough to the small town on Shingletown for any supply runs and also a fairly quick drive into Lassen National park. Mark, the owner and host was very accommodating and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay!
Almost everything one might need to relax in a vacation house is arranged in the house. It's a simple beautiful and clean house. Great location for those planning visits to Lassen.
This house was amazing! It was extremely comfortable and well equipped. The location to Lassen could not have been better. The owner was very hospitable and offered great advice of what to do.
This property and owner are fantastic!! We had an excellent time at this well-stocked property. Very clean and comfortable. Owner provided lots of information about the house and area. Was very responsive.
We stayed here several days as a base for visiting Lassen National Park. The house was as advertised and convenient to the north entrance of the park. We recommend you consider this rental.
Though we live 45 minutes away, we needed to get out of the heat and in nature. We did both at this comfortable home nestled in the pines. It was 96 outside, yet no air in the house and it was very cool. Sitting outside was pleasant as long as we weren’t in the sun. Luckily, there was plenty of shade, crisp air, and wildlife resting within feet from us which seemed magical. A very relaxing environment and places to walk and explore. There are many outdoor activities both for summer and winter nearby.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful vacation during 4th of July at Marks beautifully built home. Everyone was extremely comfortable in the spacious living areas and we were all pleased with the outside camp fire for smores. The home is near an abundance of landmarks that we were able to enjoy. During our stay we were able to spend a day at Mt. Lassen and have a lake day at Manzanita Lake, go fishing and rafting at Lake Mccumber, caught lots of fish at Hat Creek, visit the Subway Caves, and finished it all off with a visit to Burney Falls and a swim at Lake Britton. Mark was extremely kind and accomodating and made sure that all of our needs and requests were met. We look forward to our next stay at your beautiful home Mark, and appreciate your hospitality. Thank you again!
This review is a little different because we only got to stay in the house for about 4 hours (instead of the planned 4 days). The house is beautiful- the pictures do not do it justice! The neighborhood is very country, and there was a family of deer in the yard when we pulled up. Unfortunately we arrived in the midst of the giant Park Fire. I truly cannot say enough about how amazing the owner, Mark, is. A genuinely kind and generous host. He gave us a ton of recommendations the day before our trip, and was obviously super knowledgeable about the area. A few hours after we arrived, he called us to let us know the fire was getting closer, then again later to let us know the neighbors were evacuating ahead of the official orders so that we could go too and avoid the traffic jam getting out. He checked in frequently to make sure we got to safety and was so apologetic even though this was totally out of his control. We can’t wait to come back when it’s safe, we cannot recommend this place enough!
Wow.
Mark, the host, was awesome to work with: responsive, available, had a wealth of recommendations for exploring the area, local “ins” information as well!
The house itself is nothing short of Five Stars. In the words of my very critical father: this house is solid, solid. It might be over 90 degrees outside, but the house interior stayed cool. No AC necessary!
Beds are comfy and accommodated our three-generation group of 9. Games, movies, ping-pong table provided entertainment between sessions of outdoor exploration. The neighborhood is quiet, and the neighbors friendly. Lassen’s Mamzanita Lake entrance is 28ish minutes away, Lake McCumber’s boat launch area is walking distance away.
The kitchen is well-appointed with plenty of dishes and flatware, all the appliances you will need.
The Master bedroom is great if you are traveling with a couple kids under 12….and the Master bathroom even accommodâtes for additional family members with a second sink that is separate from the “main” bathroom sink. The added bonus for us is the dog-friendliness of the home and neighborhood.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Book! You will not be disappointed.
Peaceful Getaway with Great Amenities and a Helpful Host
We had a wonderful stay at the Lake McCumber house! The home was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The kitchen was especially impressive — fully stocked with all the essentials and more. We had so much fun playing ping pong together, and the peaceful, beautiful setting made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The host was also fantastic — very friendly and helpful, and provided great suggestions for local day trips. Highly recommend!
This house was the perfect home base for our Lassen trip with our 6-year-old and grandparents. We were very comfortable and Mark made sure that we had everything we needed, as well as gave us some great info on things to do and see nearby. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were able to eat every meal at the house because of that. If we are ever in the area again I would definitely stay here again!
This house was a great launching point for visiting Lassen National Park. The house was cozy, clean, comfortable, and well stocked with essentials. The neighborhood was easy to access and quiet.
Our family of five stayed here for our first visit to the Lassen area. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The house is in a great location to Lassen Volcanic National Park as well as other great hikes, such as Subway Cave, Burney Falls, and Heart Lake from Castle Lake (with great views of Mt. Shasta). Mark was a great host and he called prior to our stay and at the beginning of our stay to see if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend renting this home to those wanting to visit Lassen.
We immensely enjoyed our stay! Super clean and comfortable. Location, location, location—-perfect. Perfect spot unto itself, but also perfect for all our adventures: Lassen—Manzanita Lake—-Reflection and Lilly pond—-Burney Falls—-Subway Caves—-Lake McCumbe—etc. My husband loved the double headed shower and I loved the jetted tub. Great selection of steaming networks. Mark was so very gracious to accept our stay only two days before date. Super easy check-in and check-out. Thank you for the blessings of your home. May the joy you give to others return to you and your family a thousand fold.
Mark was great to deal with and we loved the house and location. Mule deers in back yard during our evening meals were a show we waited on each evening!
We enjoyed our stay in the mountains! This property was a great place for us to visit Lassen, go to Susanville to ride the Bizz Johnson trail and see the Sun dial bridge in Redding. The house had everything we needed and Mark is a great host
