This one of a kind property, formerly a Historic Grist mill (with ruins still on the property to explore) is surrounded on 3 sides by the Jay Branch River, a crystal clear mountain stream that runs down from Jay peak. The property is filled with Cedar and Maple and the sound of the River permeates through the trees. With multiple swimming holes and a 20 foot waterfall just steps from the deck there’s not another VRBO like this in the state of Vermont.
The interior is thoughtfully designed with a mix of modern and classic Vermont touches. The kitchen is equipped with brand-new stainless-steel appliances that are accompanied by hand-painted cabinets of local scenes by a local artist. The living room boasts Cedar walls, Bentwood rockers and a Sandstone wood burning stove stocked for the winter with logs, a perfect place to unwind after a long day of skiing or hiking. The bedrooms are cozy and unique each packed with extra pillows and comfy memory foam mattresses. The Basement has been redesigned with a stylish checkered floor, thrifted Italian marble tables, 12 foot table shuffle board, and a wall of vintage Vermont-Life magazines that send you back to a simpler time in Vermont's history. But the outside is where our home really shines, set back from the road in a wooded enclave it's extremely private, with multiple different spaces to hang out and unwind all with river views. From a thoughtfully styled screened in porch to a large outdoor wrap around deck with a charcoal grill, a 6-person cedar barrel sauna with Forest views from inside and a large bonfire space lit up with string lights there’s so many different ways to enjoy our property. Jump in one of the many swimming holes or bring some folding chairs to the edge of the river it’s really a property you have to come experience for yourself pictures and explanations don’t do it justice. Hope to see you soon !

The house sits in the woods near the Jay Branch river. It's a beautiful area. While the kitchen was not as well equipped as we're used to finding in a rental house, it was adequate enough for us to cook and feed our two families. We had a good stay and vacation here. It's an easy drive to Jay Peak.
The Cedar Chalet was a perfect oasis and escape from daily routines! From the simple aesthetic of the cabin to the scenic views, quiet sunporch, and the SAUNA - it was a lovely getaway. The grounds were cozy, private, and well-kept; including the river and private beach area, the spacious deck, and the firepit. Just across the street in easy walking distance were some very refreshing swimming holes. Communication was a breeze and the kitchen had everything we needed. Truly a magical stay!
My friends and I rented this house for a long weekend skiing/snowboarding at Jay Peak and we cannot say enough good things about this house! It's located off the beaten path by a river with beautiful views (especially in the snow) and walking trails all around. We loved the sauna, and the downstairs drying racks for our ski gear. Our host was super responsive when we reached out with a question, and it's very close to the mountain and country store. We will definitely be staying here again!

Liked: Check-in, location
The house is beautiful and the location is perfect. The loft area is nice but not ideal for sleeping, since it is wide open to the living room and the sleep surface is a futon. The kitchen and dining area are spacious for bigger families and comfortable. The heat was not working in the living room and primary bedroom areas. The dishwasher kept giving off error codes. There could be a few more baking or cooking dishes/supplies. And the spiral stairs to the upstairs bedrooms and the wooden stairs from the basement (which is the only clear entrance) to the main floor are narrow and shake.

Hey sorry the about heat!
Like our welcome message says, on really cold days the heat cannot keep up in that big room, so we provide firewood to maintain temperatures.
Sorry about the dishwasher I will get that fixed immediately.
Gorgeous property, very clean with all amenities provided. Derek is quick to respond to messages and very helpful. It's the perfect cabin for a group of friends or a family. The property is surrounded by a river on 3 sides and the sound of the water makes for the perfect peaceful retreat. We're planning on coming back during swimming season!
Our family of 5 (three teens) went up to ski at Jay. This home is beautiful, clean, and had plenty of space for our group. The property/river is awesome, we took advantage of the sauna & dipped in the river for a polar plunge. It was an easy quick ride to Jay Peak. We hope to stay here again next time we ski Jay. Five Stars! Best of the Best!
Wow! This place has it ALL! As soon as we pulled up we knew this would be amazing, the entire house and property are great. I had wanted a relaxing vacation with my husband where we could truly be alone and enjoy nature. This stay surpassed anything I imagined. We had so much fun exploring the property and the beautiful waterfalls we hardly left. When you walk into the house everything is clean, organized and has the most beautiful artwork throughout, but the cabinets really make the kitchen so special. It truly was a magical stay and I can't wait to stay here again.
