Lovely home and view! We really enjoyed the amenities and art work in the house and John gave us a great tour of the grounds and shared the history of the property with us. We hope to visit again!
Beautiful place w special location. We paddled right from the house everyday. Lots of wildlife. The Sunburnt Cottages garden is amazing! All together excellent.
We had a fantastic time. The property is natural and a lovely representation of Orca's island. Dr John is incredibly helpful, warm and kind. We loved being near the water and the view out the great room wonderful to take in. Would definitely go back.
Host was extremely friendly and helpful and accommodations were comfortable. The “waterfall” was disappointing. The kids had a great time in the lagoon looking for shells and crabs when the tide was out.
The stars were out and the Marina in the distance with all the boats stood out.
We saw so much wildlife… peacocks, geese, deer, blue herons and on and on.
House was wonderful.
I have stayed there maybe 6 times.
I keep going back !
We had a great week on Orcas Island with our three daughters. The Island House is an adorable property conveniently located in Westsound with amazing views! Overall the house was clean enough, but the property could use some updates to the furniture and bed linens for improved comfort. The kitchen was particularly outdated. There were only 5 plastic plates (1 of which was visibly dirty) and some paper plates available for us to use. The property manager was friendly and helpful!
John was the most attentive host we've come across. He actually came down and greeted us on arrival, giving us an overview of the property. Beautiful setting, lots of wildlife and a view of the sound and marina. Property could use a little updating, but nothing that detracted from our stay. I would highly recommend as is. On our first day, John mysteriously heard that my daughter had car trouble, which turned out to be needing a new battery. John not only volunteered to get the battery for us, he remove/installed and tested all systems to make sure no other problem caused it. Again I would highly recommend this property.
Reservations (First week in August)were made almost a year in advance. The end of April the host was forced to call us to tell us the owner of the property had decided she wanted the last two days of our reservation. It is difficult to find another place in that short notice on the very busy Orcas Island. Our flight reservations had been made as well as the ferry reservations to get to Orcas Island. We were at their mercy. We then had to stay in substandard housing—3 trailers. The host was very nice and bent over backwards to accommodate us but it definitely wasn’t like being together in the house. So I am cautioning other renters of this property that you might be kicked out for your whole reservation or part of it. Very inconsiderate of the owner.
