We had a wonderful stay at this rental in Kauai. The property was just as described comfortable, and in a perfect location. The view from the deck was absolutely stunning.
Fantastic location, wonderful views and meticulously maintained property in Princeville. Our stay was so enjoyable with the ease of accessing this property and using the well appointed kitchen. Would definitely return in the future!
We had a good stay overall. The property is in a nice location and the house was setup well. I’d recommend the owners/manager to install fix minor functional issues eg: faucets, shower curtains etc to make it even better.
This house was awesome! It was in a great location and had fantastic views of the jungle, mountains and ocean. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Also, loved that there were plenty of beach chairs, towels, boogie boards and sand toys for the kids! We'd totally stay here again!
It’s hard to go wrong in Kauai, but this house has a lovely view of the ocean, the tropical foliage, and the night sky, and is set back from the road, so it’s also quiet. It’s clearly been very well maintained, it’s well supplied, and the hosts were very accommodating. Wonderful place.

Mahalo Peter,
We are glad that you enjoyed our home and your stay on Kauaʻi. It is a very special place indeed.
Aloha,
Joe and Linda
We had such a wonderful stay in Joe and Linda's home. The location is perfect: short walk to multiple beaches and an easy drive to restaurants, groceries, hiking, etc.. The home was in wonderful shape and it was so nice to sit out on the lanai and enjoy the view. Joe and Linda were great hosts, and provided very useful info on things to do. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Mahalao . We appreciate your words of support and we enjoy sharing our home. Glad that you had a nice visit.
Set back from the road, so it was very quiet. Even with temps around mid to upper 80s, we were fine with fans. Overall great time and exactly what we were hoping for.

Aloha e Lee-Ann,
Weʻre glad your family enjoyed your stay and we also look forward to your return to Kauaʻi and Haleakamanu.
Joe and Linda have a hidden gem on the North shore in Kauai. Rainbows across the bay every morning. Nice and quiet and yet close to everything you need. This place is perfect in every way and while staying here, we truly felt at home. We will definitely be back! Mahalo!
My brother and I stayed here with our spouses. This was a perfect spot since we like to cook our own meals. The kitchen was well equipped and the lanai made for a perfect setting to enjoy our meals. This condo is free standing and unlike others has a view of jungle, the bay, and mountains. We prefer this side of the island as it is more jungley and seemed less crowded than the West and South sides.
We stayed here for 4 nights. It's a place to chill and relax. Even though it rains awful lot, it's very restful. The house is in perfect order and very romantic! My husband is glad to have found the 1963 Dr.Who on one of the many streaming channels, which is a bonus of the stay.
Our trip exceeded all expectations, and the property is even better than the pictures and description online!! The home is clean, bright, convenient, in a safe neighborhood, well equipped, and located right in the jungle so close to the ocean - an absolutely breathtaking setting. Would highly recommend this home if you are visiting Kauai. 5 stars!!

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
The upstairs was very clean. However the lower level had dirty dusty light green carpet. My daughter has asthma and it didn't help her that the sleeping areas needed to be dusted and deep cleaned! The ceiling fans all had a layer of dirt on them. I actually got on the bed and wiped the ceiling fan blades clean in the master bedroom! The dresser and side bed tables full of dust, including the lamps and lamp shades. We will be staying at the the condos again just not #37.

We sincerely apologize for the cleanliness issues you and your family experienced in our unit. This feedback was taken so seriously that we have since replaced our entire cleaning team to ensure it meets the high standards our guests deserve. We wish you had reached out to us during your stay so we could have addressed this immediately, and we look forward to welcoming you back under much-improved conditions.
We loved our stay at Joe and
Linda’s villa. It is lovely, well equipped, and beautifully located. It’s also a little more private than the other Hanalei Bay Villas because it’s the last one on the row. We wish we could stay longer. It can get quite hot inside in the afternoon, but we found extra fans to cool us down when we needed it. I’m soaking in one last magnificent view on the lanai as I write this review. So glorious!!!

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Kauai is a special place.
Joe and Linda were gracious and kind hosts with a beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the home - location, room, cleanliness - the home had everything you could need or hope for. Joe and Linda made the process easy and comfortable. The view from the lanai was incredible, and proximity to beaches amazing. I really appreciated the information that Joe and Linda provided to help us get around the island. Just an incredible trip. Mahalo Joe and Linda!

Mahalo for your kind words of support, we will share them with aloha for our “on Island “ team👍
The cottage was perfect for my son and I. I was so comfortable and love everyminute of my stay. I arrived in the dark and had a bit of trouble seeing the house number and I ended up in the wrong parking spot because that was also hard to see in the dark. Other than that I have absolutely no complaints.
Great views of the bay right off of the balcony and simply walk across the street for great views of the sunset! The property was setback ~100ft away from the street, so it was very peaceful without any noise from the road to ruin your vacation. The property is 2 stories with the bedrooms downstairs and the common areas upstairs. Very secluded, when looking out onto the balcony felt like I was in a jungle, with a great deal of foliage and birds nearby. Was nicely appointed with all of the amenities, it even had a stereo system with several Hawaiian music CDs to get you in the mood.
Great property, hope to return soon!

About the host
Hosted by Joe and Linda Bird
Our aloha for all things Hawaiian began as we listened to the stories of our kapuna (elders). They told us of their trips to Hawai'i and the beauty the aina (land). They described the sweeping views, mauka (mountain) and makai (sea), lush tropical vegetation and the warm, gentle climate. On our own first trip to the islands in 1969, we found all that and much more. We found even greater beauty in the people of Hawai'i. As the opportunities came to connect with them, their culture, mele (song) and hula (dance), we were led to discover the true meaning of Aloha.
Why they chose this property
We chose the North Shore of Kaua'i because of its' great climate and its' access to the water. When we first came to Hawai'i, it was to coach Water Polo teams entered in tournaments on O'ahu. Years later the purpose was to participate in the Ironman Triathlon in Kona. We have swam, snorkeled, paddled, body surfed, lifeguarded, taught and coached swimmers of all ages for decades. For us, now, the North Shore of Kaua'i was the best possible spot for us to maintain our connection with the water.
We chose our home in the Hanalei Bay Villas because of the views (mountain, jungle and sea) and because of its' privacy and serenity. It has a Hawaiian sense of place. To preserve this place is our kuleana (responsibility). We truly enjoy sharing this makana (gift) of aloha with our guests. Many of them describe its' mystical qualities of the place, its' healing power, spiritual sense and meditative tranquility. It is definitely a place where one remain in the moment. And yet, be in the water within a short walk.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy being at home in Kaua'i. The simple routines of the day, like going to the market, are a pleasure, enhanced by the climate and the surrounding beauty. We also enjoy exploring everything else the Island has to offer. In September we had the opportunity to paddle the Napali Coast, with Kayaks Kaua'i out of Hanalei. The trip took all day, including the shuttle ride back from Polihale and was a great adventure. From one extreme to the other, for us it is all good!
