About this property

An In-Town Beauty with Late Checkout

The Berkshires and all its attractions are at your doorstep in this newly renovated, well-insulated 1900 Victorian, situated on a quiet residential street in downtown Great Barrington. A 5-minute stroll takes you to the heart of Main Street, while short drives take to you all the area's attractions: Butternut and Catamount ski centers, Tanglewood, the Appalachian Trail, Rockwell Museum, beautiful Lake Mansfield less than a mile away, and the multitude of mountain lakes in our region.

The eclectic look and feel of my home reflects my twenty years as a boutique innkeeper and restaurateur in Bali, as well as being the daughter of a New York art dealer. You'll rest well on the comfy mattresses, 100% percale cotton bedding, duvets, and both down and microfiber pillows and enjoy fine Turkish cotton towels. I've stocked the kitchen with the high-quality cookware, equipment, and utensils (think vintage All-Clad, Lodge, Cuisinart, Vitamix, Nespresso, Microplane etc) that help produce a great meal. I also have my personal spice collection that I leave for guests to use. The spacious deck behind the house has a gas grill, dining table, comfortable chairs, and sun umbrella, suitable for 6-8 people.

With the house's dimmable lighting throughout as well as decorative lamps and bedside reading lamps in every bedroom, you will feel the warm ambience of every space throughout the house.

And I never like having to check out at as early as 10 am, so please settle in and sleep in. Check out time is 2 pm.

Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy this gem! Beautifully decorated, spotless, and with your every need cared for. The attention to detail and comfort makes it a true standout. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need; we loved cooking our meals throughout our stay and didn't end up eating out. Lovely touches throughout the home and generous provisions for toiletries and supplies. This cozy home was the perfect spot for enjoying peaceful time as a family with easy walks to town and a short drive to two ski areas. We were lucky enough to enjoy a few snow days during our stay and were the beneficiaries of the snow plough service Karen arranged for. Karen is extremely responsive and a pleasure to communicate with. Cannot recommend this charming home highly enough!

My second year in the house. Very comfortable house, well decorated, kitchen is terrific - many choices for making coffee and spices for those inclined to cook. I love sitting on the front porch in the morning and the short walk to town. Karen is a great host and very responsive for questions and to have a minor issue resolved. The check in/check out flexibility is great for my crew who tend to be slow in the morning.

Great spot in a cute town for a getaway!

The property was perfect for our needs as we wanted to be able to walk everywhere and enjoy all the downtown has to offer. The host was wonderful and very patient with some changing family demands and she was very responsive. I would suggest that Great Barrington is a better spot to experience the Berkshires than some Of The other adorable little Towns.

Perfect Taste Near Town

We were so lucky to find this property after a disastrous arrival elsewhere. The modern comforts in a renovated historic home were perfect for our long weekend. The beds and furnishings are comfortable, not temporary feeling; the linens provided were high quality; and the bathrooms were each spacious, and stylish. Every detail at this property felt as though we were staying with city friends who have great taste. Definitely a cut above other rentals we’ve experienced. Our host was friendly, responsive, and accommodating.

I've been coming to Gt Barrington since I was a kid and always dreamed of owning a home here, which I made happen a few years ago. I live in New York City and make my home available when I'm not enjoying it myself.

Why they chose this property

This is my weekend getaway, in-town sanctuary. I love to walk into town (literally 3 minutes to Main Street Gt. Barrington), and then come back and flop on the super comfy couch or prepare a meal. I'm a food professional, so I've stocked an intelligent kitchen in which you'll be able to make good meals. The dining room is an homage to Indonesia where I lived for 28 years running a hospitality and restaurant company that I founded.

What makes this property unique

I worked with a designer friend to put together a comfortable and cheerful home. Many of the rugs and artworks come from my time spent Bali, Istanbul and other parts of the world.

The insulation of the house is excellent. We've installed good lighting and lamps with dimmers, readings lights by the beds, a full HVAC system, and an industrial dehumidifier in the basement that keeps humidity and mold under control. Many guests remark how our house has no musty smell whatsoever.
