A fantastic place, in close proximity to the town and the lake. Seeing all the farm animals every day was a big bonus. All amenities were in great working order. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen. Overall, one of the most enjoyable vacations! Will come back.
My family had a great stay at The Hitching Post. The quiet setting, beautiful sunsets, horses as your neighbors is exactly what we all needed for a mid summer getaway.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hitchen Post. Accommodations were clean, inviting ..and Ashlie was an amazing host. We loved being on a working farm (Ashlie was kind enough to take time to introduce us to all of her wonderful animals). The cabin is near town , so a great place to stay. Everything we needed for our stay was at our fingertips. We could not have asked for more.
The bunkhouse was adorable. It was clean, bed was very comfortable. Ashlie is a great host. I got to meet all of the animals. Just a nice place to unplug and relax!!!

Ashleigh was a fabulous host. She made extra effort to engage our two young kids in feeding animals at the farm and was super pet friendly. The house was a quaint retreat and was perfect for our two kids and dog to stay along with us. With all of the Skaneateles amenities nearby and yet tranquility in the country, it was a great place to stay. Highly reccomend. And we will be back!
Our family stayed here for a week this summer, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The property itself was immaculately clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything a family could need for a relaxing stay. What truly set this stay apart and made it so special was the incredible hospitality from our host, Ashlie. She was so welcoming and exceptionally helpful throughout our visit. The absolute highlight for our daughters was when Ashlie took the time to introduce them to her animals and even let them help brush a horse. It was a magical moment for them and a memory our whole family will cherish. We cannot recommend this property highly enough, especially for families. If you're looking for a comfortable, convenient, and truly welcoming place to stay, look no further. We are already dreaming of our next visit!
Clean and comfortable cottage with wonderful porch overlooking the horses in the field. Toiletries basket was a nice touch! Soft towels in the bathroom, comfortable bed, and nice cold air conditioning for sleeping well in the humid summer. Ashleigh was absolutely delightful to talk with and took a lot of time to show us around the barn, meet the pets and farm animals, and even allowed my daughter to groom and lead one of the horses. Our whole family enjoyed the stay here and would certainly come back and stay again.
The property is beautiful. Owner did a fantastic job making it dog friendly. Entire property is fenced so your pup can be free to roam and porch is also gated. The property is a working farm so the Owner actually stays in the back of the cottage in an attached studio apt which it does not mention but Ashlie was great! The area is very peaceful but if you are looking for lake time you may want to look elsewhere. The public lake access is about a mile away but very very small and no room for parking or even a spot to sit. If your idea is to just get away and relax at the cottage then I would recommend.
I must say, this is one of the greatest fines in all the years I’ve been using VRBO. As a premier host myself, I was totally impressed by this property and the host. Small beautiful farm and the cabin has its own private yard. My dog was able to roam without me having to worry and even exposed to horses. The cabin is beautiful and well equipped and I would stay there again in a minute. Breakfast on the front porch every morning and enjoying the mama deer and her babies in the fields.
The host could not have been more helpful and a delight to talk with. We were looking for a place to just relax and wander and this place was the right choice!
