We would definitely stay here again. The owners provided so many extra little things that are so nice to have at a property. The kitchen is very well equipped and had everything needed to prepare meals.
This was the PERFECT VRBO! We were in the woods but still a close drive to groceries/restaurants. This was the best equipped house we have ever rented. The hosts literally thought of everything to make our stay easy! It was also well located for our visits to Garden of the gods, Pikes Peak and so much more! We had great weather but definitely get a truck or 4wheel drive for the road leading back to the house- just in case! The Trail House was a 10/10!!
Great location. Plenty of space in the house. Nice deck surrounded by beautiful trees. The house had everything we needed. We enjoyed staying here. Small glitch not getting the door code until we asked for it and then standing at the door in a thunderstorm trying to get in without success and no one responding to our request for help. Eventually we were given the correct code and were able to get in. Communication could have been a bit better for this particular issue, but after that everything was great.
Great location and loved all the wildlife. Very quiet and relaxing which was much needed. Host was amazing and very responsive. Hope to be back next year.
Loved the cabin! It had everything our family needed from cookware to toiletries and fans and blankets etc. it is just far enough out of town to see wildlife and have a great view of pikes peak. It is a short drive to town give or take 5-10 minutes depending how bumpy the dirt roads were. I was grateful for my husbands truck as it was rainy and muddy while we were there. I would stay here again!
This house was just so perfect! We enjoyed the quiet surroudings, the awesome mountain views driving to the house, watching deer wander by the house to feed, and all the attention to detail in the house. Thank you Jim, Nicole, and family for a wonderful time near the mountains around Woodland Park!
We loved our stay here with friends. So peaceful and not too far from civilization. The home was very well stocked and well appointed. It worked great for two couples each having their own bedroom and bath. We had a minivan for June/July which worked fine but a 4x4 during the fall through spring would be highly recommended!!

Just a heads-up for anyone considering this property during the summer: there is NO air conditioning. We did not realize this when we booked. While A/C is not listed as an amenity, it also wasn’t something we thought to specifically look for, as we assumed a vacation rental would have air conditioning.Unfortunately, we found out the hard way. It was approximately 97F outside in the middle of the day, and the house was simply too hot for our family to comfortably stay there. When I contacted the owner about the heat, we were essentially told to use the fans.We ultimately had to leave and find somewhere else to stay because of the temperature. Despite not being able to stay at the property, we were not given a refund, so the owner kept our payment while we also had to pay for accommodations elsewhere.I’m posting this mainly so other travelers don’t make the same assumption we did: if you are booking this property during warm weather, understand that there is no A/C and plan accordingly. If air conditioning is important to you, especially when temperatures are in the 90s, I would choose another property.
Lovely stay, clean home and a real cabin on the woods. It wasnt snowing but we had plenty of snow in the back yard that the kids played with and enjoyed. The road isnt a gravel road just not pave so it wasnt to bad coming and going from the cabin. Walmart is 15 mins away. The kids loved their room plenty of toys and things to do.had a great trip over all.
The property was great. Very clean and set up well. However, the drive and finding it was not so great. I screenshot the directions but not the address (bad mistake). The directions were fine until the end where it said "no more turns from this point" maybe no turns but several curves. The roads are not continually marked, so it's hard to tell if you are on the correct road. It wouldn't have been such an issue, but we ended driving past the house and proceeded up two very steep hill where the road had been washed out in long "ditches" When we get to the top, we realize we have to go back down the very steep, washed out road. It would have been nice to have had the address in the directions as it was written, by the time we realized the directions were not clear, my friend was searching for the address. Just a total fiasco and really glad we didn't suffer damages to my vehicle. And, yes it is an all-wheel drive with off-road settings which you definitely will need if it should happen to rain. We were very lucky it stayed dry.
Perfect location! Close to all the attractions from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek. Everything we could have needed was available. Great getaway for our family.
Took my wife here for a birthday getaway. It was nicely tucked away in the woods and close enough to town and to Manitou Springs for hikes, climbing, and good food. The place was neat, clean, and we had a family of deer come visit by the deck each morning! Couldn’t have been better.
A Nice getaway spot. It was exactly what we were looking for on our short notice 4 day weekend. The house had all the things needed in a VRBO. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils and cook ware you would need. All appliances worked with no issues. The linens and beds were clean and comfortable. No issues with the bathrooms. Check in was seamless and house was clean except for anticipated small things like some passed away spiders in the sinks. I did not realize the main bedroom was in the loft area and its bedroom was down a flight of stairs on the main level but that was not a problem for my wife or me. The location does have a bit of dirt road to drive. We understood this and was not a problem but by day 4 it was a little tiring. A nice quiet retreat. I really enjoyed reading on the secluded porch and listening to the munching of the deer as they fed right under the deck, amazing.
