What a quiet place and beautiful place to wake up in the morning. The sky is so blue and the sun set against the mountains is incredible.
Love this location.
Pam’s place is delightful. It’s a great location for accessing the Sand Dunes and to get away. The place is quiet and there were a number of thoughtful touches. We appreciated some of the attention to detail. The hummingbirds at the hummingbird feeder and the view were a special treat.
The space also worked very well for us—nice community spaces and nice size bedrooms for all parties. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our experience was terrible because we rented this property and when we got to the place at night with no WiFi signal, the property was occupied. We had to find a last minute hotel.
We really had high hopes for this house, but overall, it was just ok. We decided to rent this place mainly because it was listed as being air conditioned. However, we soon discovered it was not and when I brought this to the attention of the host, all she said was, "I'm sorry, it was listed that way by mistake. I'll go open all the windows." So much for our valuables being secure. Ended up getting a portable swamp cooler just to make it bearable when we returned after a day in the hot sun. Also, the doors were listed as having deadbolt locks, which they did, however, we were not given a key to the deadbolt locks. The shower broke on day 2 of our stay and our host said she would send a repairman to fix it, however, it hadn't been fixed when we checked out on day 3. The deck on the south side is so old and the floor is so deteriorated I felt like I was going to fall through. Also, the last section of road getting to the place is a dirt road that is so rough it'll rattle your teeth. On the bright side, the view of the mountains and sky is beautiful.
We had a wonderful stay in Ft. Garland, CO for our family trip to the Sand Dunes. The house was immaculately clean and the fully stocked kitchen (crockpot, microwave, pots, pans, Tupperware, aluminum foul, cheese grater, plates, spatulas, etc.) allowed us to make our meals at the house. The patio furniture out on the deck was great for star gazing at night. My city kids had never seen the Milky Way and loved walking out the door to see the stars. There were also cards, toys, and games provided for non-screen entertainment. Beds, pillows, blankets, and towels were all soft, clean, and comfortable. The internet at the house was speedy and able to keep with all our devices and streaming desires.
We were able to easily drive back and forth to the National Sand Dunes Park, only about 30ish minutes. On the drive there we were able to rent sand sleds and sand boards at SpinDrift Board Rentals right along the way. The All-Gon restaurant in town was also a crowd pleaser with a very diverse menu to fit everyone’s taste.
We brought our 65 lb dog along on the trip too. She was happy to join in the fun and loved exploring the property during the daytime. At night, we kept her on a longer retractable leash and had our flashlights in hand as we were out in the wild.
I would highly recommend this cozy, clean house for visitors to the area. Pam, the owner, was so accommodating and quick to respond to any questions we had. I hope you can enjoy a stay here on your trip to southern Colorado as much as we did!

I am born and raised in Brighton, Colorado. My brother-in-Law in Prescott, Arizona has had an VRBO, since they first started. We as a family have stayed an many VRBO's and it is a great concept when on vacation and extended stays. We enjoy meeting people and sharing this home away from home. This home has been recenctly renovated. New bathtub, new skylight, new flooring, new sink and vanity. Be the first to enjoy the new renovation.
Why they chose this property
All the homes are on 5 acre lots with privacy and views all around. Enjoy hiking from the front door. We call it Basecamp, with places to go in all directions. State of Colorado History Museum in the town of Fort Garland, the Great Sand Dunes, Mountain Home Lake where you can fish for trout or go in the lake. Beware, the water is cold. Taos, New Mexico is 1 hour away. The stars are amazing!!! Close to town and a nice rocky mountains get a way with all the amenities of home.
