Our family had a wonderful stay at Alpine Lake! The cottage was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing lake getaway. We especially loved that it’s a no-wake lake, it made for such a peaceful atmosphere, whether we were fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the quiet.Ginny was fantastic to work with. She communicated clearly, was quick to respond, and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish.We highly recommend this hidden gem. If you’re looking for a peaceful lakeside retreat, you won’t be disappointed!.

Delightful Stay

"Tranquil" was the operative word for our relaxing, weeklong stay at this lovely cabin. The no-wake lake was perfect for kayaking, swimming and just lounging on the beach, with plenty of shade for warmer days. The cabin was roomy with all the amenities, a great view, and even an arcade room. Ginny, the proprietor, was so nice to work with and always responded right away with any questions I had. We highly recommend this for your next getaway vacation!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

GOOD: There is lots of space. Six people had plenty of room to be comfortable in any space that they wanted. The game room was fun. There are board games, books. Many used the kayaks(sit on type). The fire pit was nice, outdoor seating plenty. The beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We rented a rented a pontoon at Ding‘s Boat Dock with cushion seating. Definitely worth the money. BAD: The washer was very moldy and smelly, 2 cleaning pods did not help, a load of towels with Biz did. Shelves in the door of the refrigerator were filled with opened, used food. The lake was very mucky, you would sink down when walking in and make the water dirty. No one swam in the water. UGLY: *2.5 hr spent cleaning* The kitchen floor, refrigerator, cabinet shelves, stove were dirty. Used food was in the refrigerator. Stairs were sandy, full of dog hair. The owner was informed, replied that they “have always gotten five star reviews and most people have said it is spotless.” I offered to send photos. There was no offer to clean it.
Their next day reply, …”sorry you have found so many things that are not up to your standards” and said they would cancel and refund the remaining 4 days and we would have to cancel by noon that day (this was not seen until after that time). “It (cabin) is always left in a very clean condition”, “…if not up to your standards, by all means you should cancel.” They knew we were there for a 40th anniversary with family-No offer to fix it or compensate.

I appreciate that you pointed out some of the good things. I first got a message almost as soon as you got there that there were fingerprints on the fridge and microwave. This alerted me because I had just washed and buffed those and knew there were no fingerprints. Maybe smears from cleaning. No used food was left in fridge, only condiments. Most guests appreciate that. If not they just leave it. The kitchen floor was mopped, maybe didn't dig into the corners this time, but frequently I do. I could have cleaned the stairway better but it was vacuumed. I go over it with a special comb to remove dog hair and I didn't do that this time. The washer is not moldy. If fact we recently took the whole washer apart and cleaned around all the gaskets. It does smell musty and I put a note on the door to leave the door open so it doesn't get musty. Refrigerator had been wiped clean, I admit I didn't wipe out all the floors of the cabinets, that's a seasonal job. I openly disclose that it is a mucky lake. There is a sandy portion by the beach and it is less mucky on the other side of the dock. We are running an Aqua thruster to help get rid of muck, but it will take time (we are new owners). A lot of people swim in the lake nevertheless and the kayaking is awesome! It's been a joy to have this vacation rental with so many people enjoying it and expressing praise for the property. I do always have it very clean and ready. And I do have 63 5 star reviews on a different travel site.
