Verde Cottage (2BR/1BA) Peaceful Rainforest Oasis!

The Verde Cottage is located 20 minutes from Cruz Bay on the top of Bordeaux Mountain - a very peaceful and residential part of St. John. The 1.5 bedroom/1 bath Cottage is accessed by a long flight of lighted stairs (67 steps in total!) which is your gateway to peace and privacy.

After descending down the long lighted wooden stairway, you’ll enter the Verde Cottage stepping into the air-conditioned main living area. The living area has a comfy loveseat and armchair positioned to face the 40” Samsung Smart TV where you can stream your favorite shows and movies. There are St. John guidebooks to flip through, board games to play and fast wifi to keep up with your life at home.

The compact and efficient kitchen in the main living area is well-equipped with a comprehensive array of cooking equipment and appliances (please note there is no dishwasher). You’ll also find a wide array of glassware and dining equipment with all of the essentials that you will need to enjoy your stay!

Just off the living room, there is a large bathroom with a vanity, shower, toilet, storage cubbies, and clothes washer/dryer. The bathroom is stocked with basic toiletries and cleaning products for your convenience.

Step through the French doors from the living room out onto the lovely screen porch where you'll find your choice of lounge areas - with swinging and seating options! There are two swinging hammock chairs framed by a beautiful view of Caribbean blue water and the British Virgin Islands through the trees. Around the corner there is a comfy conversation set where you can relax with a book and coffee, listening to the gentle tweets and chirps of the rainforest. There is a dining table that seats 4 to enjoy your meals ‘al fresco’ on the corner of the screen porch.

The air-conditioned private Master bedroom is located just off the screen porch. The bedroom is small and tastefully decorated, perfect for unwinding after a day in the sun and sea. There is a queen bed with a comfortable mattress and soft linens along with a large dresser. For your comfort, there are blackout shades and in-room air conditioning. Early risers will catch a glimpse of the sunrise across the rolling mountains while cozied up in bed!

The second sleeping area is a cozy loft bedroom located upstairs from the main living area. There is a narrow and steep flight of stairs that lead to a loft fully enclosed by railings with a queen bed and private dressing area. The queen bed looks out on a beautiful water view through the treetops. Please note, this bedroom is not suitable for young children due to the railings and stairway.

The loft area, living room, kitchen and bathroom are in the main part of the home and are cooled by an air-conditioning unit in the loft. The downstairs queen bedroom has its own air-conditioning unit.

We supply basic toiletries, paper products and cleaning products to our guests, as well as all bedroom linens/blankets, bath towels, beach towels and basic beach equipment (cooler, beach umbrella, and two beach chairs).

GETTING AROUND:
The Verde Cottage is located 20 minutes from Cruz Bay, 12 minutes to Coral Bay, and 12 minutes to the closest of the beautiful North Shore beaches.

You will need a rental car to access this property as taxis are infrequent/unreliable on Bordeaux Mountain. Guests are encouraged to book their car rental as soon as possible as they are in high demand.

Private parking is on a large gravel parking pad that can easily fit two vehicles. We provide complimentary beach chairs, a beach umbrella and a cooler to accompany you on all of your island adventures.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
It's hard to find a quieter, more relaxing accommodation on St. John. Surrounded by jungle without a neighbor or road in sight, the Verde Cottage offers peace and tranquility.

The cottage is nearly off-grid, featuring a large array of solar panels and Tesla Power-walls for uninterrupted power (and grid tied for those shady days). There is a cistern for rainwater catchment and we have a very robust triple filtration system.

Please note there is a long long flight of stairs to access the Cottage, it is important to know there are 67 steps in total! This is a property suitable only for fit / active travelers who don't mind a little workout coming and going.

Located as the perfect jumping off point to explore the entire island, the Verde Cottage is located close to many of the Virgin Islands National Park trailheads and white sand beaches. We would be happy to help you make the most of your visit to St. John and are available 24/7 to answer questions.
