About this property
Madaket Beach House - Sweeping Views of Both Harbor & Sea
Spend your summer by the beach in Madaket in this quintessential upside down Nantucket house with sweeping views of both the harbor and ocean. The photos are a bit out of date as many upgrades have been added and we are working to add recent photos. Updates include hard wood floors downstairs, window seat and better configuration of tv/stereo upstairs, and wrap around (1/2 of house) outdoor deck upstairs.
The top floor includes an open kitchen and sitting/tv area (gas fireplace included) with oversized windows and Andersen sliding doors which open on to a deck wide enough to grill from and/or sit in the teak rocking chairs to absorb the famous Madaket sunsets. The oversized Master Bedroom (king bed, private bath, walk in closet) also has Andersen sliding doors opening on to the upper deck and same views from the bedroom windows.
Downstairs are two more bedrooms each with private baths: the corner room contains a king bed and Andersen sliding doors that open onto the lower deck…providing easy access to outdoor shower; the middle room contains two twin beds. There is a theater room equipped with 42” flat screen tv, DVD/CD player and surround sound, and an xbox with games for both the young & older. The couch is an oversized sectional sofa that could serve as a bed for one adult or 2 children. There is a laundry room, two car garage, and room to park a boat or other water toys. The house is situated on .46 acres.
There is a water view from each room (laundry room excluded) and the sound of the surf fills every room and lulls you to sleep at night, and – in combo with chirping birds – gently wakes you each morning. Bunny rabbits and the occasional deer also greet you. Walk out the door and you are steps to Madaket Harbor (literally 3 homes from harbor access; Mr Rogers house is the 4th home) or to Madaket Beach (a ~.25 walk along harbor to ocean).
Madaket Harbor is an excellent calm beach for small children or for stand up paddle boards or kayaking (both included in home rental). From the house, it is ~ 2 miles along the harbor and ocean to the the tip of Smith’s Point where seals are often seen swimming the shore. (An excellent run and a way to make room for the fresh fish you will grill or restaurants you will explore). In addition, enjoy surfcasting off of Smith's Point or boating around Madaket Harbor.
The house is seconds to the bike path and shuttle bus which provide service to Downtown and other areas of the Island. Millie’s is opened again this season with a new chef and upstairs bar (the fish tacos are amazing!). Millie’s often offers shuttle service to/from the Cisco Brewery. The house is very close to miles of conservation land which can be explored in the wild or via the paved trails provided for long walks, runs or biking.
Additional amenities include wireless high-speed internet, flat screen tv's (upstairs and down), internet radio, outdoor speakers, charcoal grill, beach chairs, beach towels, cooler, luxury linens & towels. We will accept well-behaved pets for an additional cleaning fee (to be discussed based on type of pet). And not the we encourage work, but the house is also equipped with wireless printer/scanner/fax if someone must get in touch with you.
Friends that have visited refer to this spot as an oasis.

About the host
Hosted by Dawn
A dream come true!! After years of loving ACK, we finally own a little slice of heaven on earth and a true refuge from the hustle and bustle of New York City. The owners have been best friends for ~ 15 years. It took some time, but the goal of owning a beach house in which one can see water from every window and hear the sound of the surf throughout the home finally materialized. The SALT Shelter is our 'home office' to be used when not rented. Dawn & Brian
