We loved this place. We actually met David and had a wonderful time talking. He's a fisherman like my husband so they had a great time sharing stories and pictures. We caught a few brown trout right there in the creek. Really nice size ones too. Released...so they are still there! We also were escaping the heat of Ft. Lauderdale so we enjoyed the beautiful days and cool nights around the firepit. The little town of Murphy is a gem too. So many people willing to sit and chat at every place we ate and shop we visited. If you come here do visit Crafted Dough. Boozy donuts and coffees. The Top o the Morning to Ya Irish Coffee will kick start your day! Not open every day but sooooo good. We loved out stay so much we extended ours an extra day....wanted more but sadly someone was already booked. This was one of our favorite vacations ever!

Peace and quiet near Murphy NC

This home was clean, well appointed and thoughtfully prepared for guests like our family. Nestled in a valley, backyard is an oasis with a beautiful deck (read / relax / view wildlife/grill), firepit, and active stream. Close to town, hiking and all you need. Highly recommend for all age groups.

Rushing Creek Cabin

Great cabin for our family. Listening to the rushing water was awesome. Loved all the extras provided such as; jars to catch lightning bugs, large grilling forks, tubes for creek and panning gold screens. Plus games galore! Paved road to cabin is a plus. Very clean and cozy cabin. Thanks for helping us make some delightful memories.

Perfectly Peaceful

For this trip we planned on staying in instead of going from activity to activity. Rushing Creek was the perfect place for that. The sound of the creek was so peaceful and our kids loved playing in the water. We did go out for a couple of activities and meals but used the grill at the cabin almost every night. This is a great place for a family getaway. *My only suggestions would be to put extra child safety precautions on the exterior doors and get new cookware.

Relaxing and quiet

The cabin was really nice and had lots of room much more than you could tell by looking at the pictures. The only things I would recommend is some new skillets and a Keurig coffee maker. The back porch was messy and there was alot of dust inside but other than that it was great.Dave the prperty manager was very helpful when the fireplace quit working.

Outside upkeep

The house was very nice but the outside furniture and table were not usable they were so dirty. The grills were so bad it took my son a hour to get one clean enough to use. Also picture of River online is very deceiving. It is a small creek and not big enough to tube in.

Rushing Creek Retreat

The location was perfect! Nice mountain view from the front porch! The creek was awesome! Caught several trout. Creek was clean, and very convenient - just few steps out the back door. So relaxing to hear the rushing water! Cabin was very clean and well stocked with amenities. Owners even had a list of some helpful information included on local points of interest. We enjoyed our visit - our only regret - our stay was only four days! Was so relaxed, it was hard to leave!!! Loved the layout, and was very peaceful there! Would highly recommend staying there. Very confortable and cozy! Hope to stay there next year. Hawkins, S.C.

Well appointed, needs nothing more than your toothbrush. Private location.

We had a wonderful week! The house has everything you could possibly need and exceptionally clean. Open floor plan great for cooking, eating, visiting, playing games and sitting on the large covered porch listening to the stream. Bedrooms in 3 different corners of the house for added privacy. Ten minutes from Murphy. Store keepers are all welcoming and very helpful. Some really good restaurants in Murphy and Andrews. Super antique shops in both if you are into that and just 15 minutes from Valley River Casino. We ended up going to a trout farm to catch fish and it was lots of fun. Good sized fish and not so easy to catch that it wasn't fun to reel in the big one. Look forward to coming back!

As advertised. Wonderful property

Located just far enough away from town to be away from it all, but close enough that it is not a major time commitment to go get the Saturday morning breakfast from Crafted Donuts, this spacious cabin provided my family a wonderful stay. The cabin was very clean and has pretty much everything you need to feel "at home." I liked that tissues, tp and paper towels were provided. I have rented some cabins that were bare. The front yard is sizeable enough for an active family wiffle ball or something, and the back yard is western NC perfection, with the porch overlooking the just loud enough creek. Like most creeks in the mountains, it is not meant for canon balls and tubing, but for frolicking and getting your feet wet. In a perfect world, I would prefer a king bed in the master (plenty of room for it) and scentless sheets/towels. Also, the Wi-Fi is not great so working from the cabin may is difficult. It could be time to upgrade to Starlink.

It Was Christmas

I will keep this short and sweet. The owner contact was initially great. As temps plummeted to zero degrees, the house lost power all 6 days of our stay for 4-5 hours per day. Water is on a well so we had no water either. Contacted the owner but the general response was it was a "unprecidented weather event" and no other assistance offered. We left a day early as one family member needed breathing treatment requiring power. The owner never responded to my text letting them know we had left early. The stay was not all bad, just somewhat dissapointing. Also, the porch and yard was a bit on the trashy side. Others may have a better experience.

This cabin has a very nice, open & spacious floor plan equipped with everything you need and has a very quiet & relaxing location that is easy to get to. There is a neighborhood old, black dog that likes to visit and use the yard… seems friendly. Hearing the creek located in the back yard was relaxing. The only thing I would have liked would be a king bed in the master bedroom and blinds on back windows otherwise very nice & accommodating. Did see some spiderwebs & a couple spiders inside the house especially in the master bathroom. The cabin personnel was very easy to get a hold of. Enjoyed our stay !!! Rate 8/10

There are lots of basic maintenance issues that made our stay less than acceptable for 250/night.Upon arrival, we noticed poison ivy growing all over the property, including up the front porch. My husband had to remove it as we have small children. We also had to clean out several bugs from the bathroom tub--they seemed to be coming up out of the drain. The HVAC quit working on our first night. The host sent a repairman the next day, and he was able to get it working by removing the filthy filters and cleaning out the clogged and full drain pan.He said it looked like they had not done the annual maintenance on the unit in quite some time.Next, the water filter needed to be changed in the fridge, the filter reset button light was on and water flow was extremely slow.We looked forward to using the backyard furniture, but the hammock was torn and unusable, the bench was rotting and full of splinters, and the picnic table was also rotting.I noticed dust pretty much everywhere--fans, pictures, hanging from the ceiling, and top of cabinets and decor. The washer is very old and the lid is rusting and paint is peeling and every time we shut the door, paint and rust would get in our clothes, so it was unusable.Dryer did not dry clothes thoroughly.Trash has to be taken off site as part of check out process, but the trash place requires an access card, which is not provided. There was a loose dog, so that made us nervous to take our own dog out. Will not stay here again unless issues are fix

This is a perfect property for older people who don't want lots of stairs. My husband enjoyed flyfishing in the creek and caught several small trout, both rainbow and brown. The spacious back porch was perfect for dinner and listening to the creek. We stayed for three weeks and wished it could have been longer. Well appointed, highly recommended.

Rushing Creek Retreat

We spent several days over Thanksgiving at this property. Overall, we had a very nice stay. The layout of the house was great. The kitchen opened to the family room and had was fully stocked. The family room had a comfy sectional sofa, and a cozy gas fireplace that was so easy to operate.Loved that there were no steps, the house was all on one level. If I had anything negative to say, it would be that the bedding, pillows, sheets and towels may be in need of replacing, I was also hoping for a little better view of the mountains from the front of the house, but the rushing creek in the back was beautiful. We would definitely consider renting this property again.

We have retired to the mountains of North Carolina and, Trust Us, we only live in beautiful places. We live in this area and think we have found Paradise in our charming town of Murphy. We came to visit and vacation here and just had to stay. Our home is pet friendly for we have two golden retrievers (THE GOLDEN GIRLS) that are the loves of our lifes. I am sure if you travel with your pets, they are also your children. Our 5 grandchildren think this is the best place in the world and we agree. It is so centrally located and after 12 years we are still exploring and finding new adventures. My husband's advocation is photography and he has enjoyed photographing all the wonders of nature in the area. Some of his photos are in the home. He won lst place in the GA Mountain Fair several years ago and won 2nd place last year. The fair is in July and is an adventure not to be missed if you are here. Fun for the entire family in Hiawassee GA.

Why they chose this property

We came to visit here in 1997 and we fell in love. The next visit we found ourselves buying property and building a house here. What we love the most is the ever changing nature around us. We are always mesmerized by the sound of water and when we found this wonderful new home on a rushing creek we decided to buy it to share our piece of paradise in Murphy with others to enjoy. My husband said that the mountains are in my Scottish/Irish DNA and I would have to agree. As the saying goes 'You are nearer to GOD in the mountains than any other place on earth.'

What makes this property unique

The small town feeling where everybody waves and the deep history in this area is fascinating. The area where this home is located is where the last battle of the Civil War was fought on May 6th, 1865. This was an Indian Reservation and the Trail of Tears history can be found at our local museum. The folklore is long and interesting. All you have to do is ask and listen. A free performance every Friday night in the open air pavilion at John C Campbell folk school should not be missed. About a mile from the property is a monument to a Forge that was located here in 1839.
