Stylish and centrally located, Barelas House is a newly constructed “casa moderna” in the historic barrio that was settled by the Spanish in 1662. Enter and you are greeted by oversized sliding doors that integrate the courtyard with the spacious living/dining spaces. Thoughtful window placement with well-designed coverings and high fencing around the perimeter contribute to the feeling of privacy despite the property’s location in a bustling urban area.
The home celebrates the materials used to compose it: scored concrete floors, stainless steel kitchen counter tops, custom fabricated doors of steel and plastic, and metal exterior cladding.
Each room has unique, locally made, glass mosaic art pieces. The selections were made by the host and the artist to complement the décor and create a modern arts and crafts feel.
Lighting options have not been overlooked in any part of this space. From natural to artificial, the guest has complete control of creating just the right ambiance any time of day.
Entering from the private courtyard one is greeted by a high ceiling, natural light, storage, and two choices.

This room has private access to the side yard, and two large doors that can be closed to increase privacy, or open to the flow of this modern space. Playing with these doors alters the feeling of this space significantly.
Right, allows access to the remainder of the home which includes access to the patio sitting area, a cozy living space, kitchen and eating area, utilities, bathroom, and king-sized master bedroom.
Pause to take in the space.
The 12-foot glass wall is your main access point to the side yard. It is comfortable with a sitting area on custom concrete pads, and a small gas grill for your use. The sliding doors, and the light they let in, can be infinitely adjusted with custom vertical blinds.
The living space is very comfortable with many choices for lounging, or viewing your favorite show on the 65-inch HD TV. The Bose sound bar can be connected via Bluetooth, and used to broadcast just the right music to complement your experience.
The kitchen offers high end stainless appliances, contemporary cabinetry, and a full complement of kitchen tools to prepare meals with an eating area that is just as capable as a hangout space.
Continuing through the kitchen one gains access to the rest of the house. The hallway contains a group of four macro photographs with New Mexico nature as the subject, and the homes utilities tucked behind another tall custom fabricated door.
The bathroom with its modern styling is both utilitarian and inviting. Light and color blend with steel, concrete, and tile to create a space that is efficient and luxurious.
The master bedroom boasts a comfortable king-sized bed, ample storage, a small sitting area, and a full-length mirror. Again, there is private side yard access.

Stan, Thanks for being a great guest and helping me with garbage day. My cleaner reported that you took great care of the property. I would be happy to have you back anytime. Jason
Our stay was superb. The property was very clean, stocked and cozy (sofas, beds etc …). The decor was also tasteful and pretty neat. Our host Jason was very nice and provided detailed, but simple check-in/check-out instructions. The location is great and was easy to access. Overall this host/location was excellent and I’d definitely consider another stay here. 5/5!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Barelas House. Jason is a great host. Great location, and the place is very clean and modern. I plan to stay there again on my next visit to Albuquerque.
really liked the house. We were looking for a place that was near the river trail and this house was perfect. Super clean very easy to deal with the owner all in all a great house and a great value. Plus it was very comfortable and well provisioned
Truly a five star stay! The property is gorgeous with so many fun design details. It had everything we needed and more, was in the perfect location for hiking and shopping, and Jason went above and beyond to make sure we had the perfect trip. We loved Albuquerque and will certainly be staying at this beautiful property again!

Kailan was a great guest! She was a great communicator, and treated my property with respect. I would recommend her to any host.
This place is even better in person than the pictures portray!!!! We love the simple yet very thought out design such a really different space. It is open and super clean. Jason, our host checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and was very attentive. I would love to live in this house full-time to be honest. Also, the beds were amazingly comfortable and high-quality pillows and blankets, which is huge. We felt more than at home. We felt pampered. As far as getting where we needed to go in Albuquerque, every thing was within a 20 minute or so drive, we went to Santa Fe one day that was a little over an hour so we loved how close it was to everything we wanted to do. Thank you for having such a wonderful spot for us to spend part of our spring break.
