Villa MariStella is an enchanting property, spread out over two terraces, located on the picturesque aerea of Positano center.

The structure, subdivided into two levels, has a breathtaking view overlooking the coast of Posita-no sea.
The entrance is only 16 stairs from the main road, then a beautiful grey stone staircase brings you inside the house.
The Place
Situated in one of the most scenic areas of Positano , walking in the pedestrian area, from Villa Maristella you can easily reach the Big Beach and the Pier ( ferry to Capri and Amalfi) or the beautiful Fornillo beach.

The location of the Villa is in heart of Positano, between the beaches and the entrance to the town of Positano, making it possible to reach either one either on foot or by the local bus that stops 30 meters from our home.

The big beach and the pier is at 700 meters stairs+pedestrian, while Fornillo beach is at 600 me-ters, are reachable in 10 minutes walking.
You can easily reach the Pier and the beaches by descending a pedestrian shortcut or walking through the old stairwells of Positano, the ‘scalinatelle’ ( little streets consisting of narrow stairways and steps). This is something not to be missed! Climbing down the steps, passing by the most visited places by tourists, you will discover and unveil enchanting angles of Positano, and then, once you have visited all the little streets by foot, you can always go back up by the local shuttle bus!

The gate of MariStella is reached by climbing only 16 stairway.
You can reach the bus stop on foot 30 meters ( 1 minute walking) from the house, and you can park your car 100 meters ( 2 minutes walking) away in a pay parking lot. You can reach nearby shops from 20 to 300 meters ( 1 to 5 minutes walking); four grocery shops from 150 to 400 meters; 8 res-taurants from 50 to 200 meters ( 1 to 5 minutes walking); laundry, newspapers, hairdresser at 100 meters; café-bar from 30 to 400 meters.
The villa Maristella is an ideal place for groups of friends, family reunions, or for guests attending a weddings on the Amalfi Coast.

beautiful christmas holiday ....

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the villa or gaetano and his family .... they were lovely and accommodating.... and even went as far as providing christmas day dinner for us upon our arrival ( since everything in positano had already closed)... the villa was spacious and well appointed, with plenty of room for all nine of us ... the view was gorgeous .... it was a bit chilly while we were there but we all managed to have coffee on the patio in the morning ! the town itself is amazing...we found it mostly quiet ( off season/winter) but enjoyed every day and in reflection we are not sure we would want to be there during the summer with all the crowds...even the locals who live there year round are not a big fan of the overcrowding during the peak summer months. we found everyone very welcoming and helpful... from shop owners to restaurants to locals on the streets... everyone was delightful! speaking of streets... be prepared to walk... a lot.... all over the place.... there are very narrow stairways throughout the city leading from one end to the other .... it was quite the workout.... if you have any physical difficulties this may not be the place for you ... there is a local bus ( which we used towards the end of our week ) that will take you throughout positano .... overall .... it was a magical holiday ... and every bit as beautiful as the pictures .... !!!!!! thank you gaetano for sharing your lovely villa !!!!

You can`t get a better house and scenery for this price

Three families with kids in their late teens and a grandmother on 79 rented the whole villa for a week. The villa was perfect for us. Two fully equipped flats on two separate floors. We put the teens in one flat and the grown ups in the flat above. Giving the teens a feeling of freedom. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped and the terrace was fabulous with enough table and chairs to fit us all. The wiew from the terrace was truly amazing! All meals we had at the villa was enjoyed out on the terrace. Gaetano, the owner, and his family was the best hosts. Helpful in every way. They prepared and served two fantastic dinners with wine for us during our stay, to a good price. The stay gave us all many memories that we will treasure forever, thank you! P.S. Positano is a fantastic village with lots of steps

A Dream Come True

This was the best! Many of us were in Positano for a week to celebrate my daughter's wedding. Seven of us stayed at Maristella on the second floor while 5 stayed on the first floor. The location is perfect and Gaetano is the best! He and his family hosted the rehearsal dinner on the top terrace and it was simply amazing! He is the most helpful host. We did not need anything. The grocery store is close as well as places to eat. The beach like anywhere other than the beach in Positano is a walk but it wasn't bad. I could not recommend this property more highly!

Best Experience Ever

Beautiful Positano

The property was perfect for us. It provided privacy for each of the four couples, it was also big enough for us to get together for meals or to just enjoy the breathtaking views. The owner Gaetano was most helpful arranging transportation with a local company which provided excellent service. He also made great recommendations for tour options to Capri, transportation options to Amalfi coast, Rome, etc. We were even given a treat of home made tiramisu (which was the best I ever had). I would highly recommend Positano as a vacation destination and this villa is perfect for a group of friends or in our case family. The people of Positano were all so friendly and helpful I can't recall a bad experience in our 2 week stay. Please note, that stairs, stairs, and more stairs are a way of life in Positano. Maristella is a deam come true.

Four of us arrived and were immediately welcomed, assisted upstairs with our luggage and belongings. Gaetano gave us the tour and details of our temporary home. He answered all of our questions and offered suggestions, as well. Two bedrooms AND two full bathrooms were especially appreciated. The view alone is worth more than the cost of the rental. We were treated with warmth, kindness and patience by our hosts and the community of Positano, Italy. Thank you, Gaetano. We'll Be Back!

Beautiful view, awesome apartment, great host!

We were 13 women traveling together. We booked both apartments and it was perfect for our needs. We had plenty of room to sleep in separate beds and there are six bathrooms! We cooked and hung out on the terrace and inside the apartment when the weather wasn't good. Gaetano was so helpful whenever we needed anything, from arranging drivers, to helping with another reservation we had, and answering every question. The apartment is just as the pictures show. It's not fancy, but clean, comfortable and spacious. The local bus has a stop just outside the door. There are restaurants and grocery stores with in walking distance. I would definitely recommend staying here. Both apartments are self sufficient and have great views. Thanks Gaetano!

Dare to try La Doce Vita

Ideal location and quiet comfortable porches to sit on and live the sweet life. Kitchens adequate for breakfast or lunch and loads of restaurants nearby. Great showers and firm beds. Gaetano was always available and very helpful in directions and in arranging Capri trip. Bus service is the only way to get around Positano and Amalfi. Our bus stop was steps from the villa.

Best of both worlds

We have been renting homes, villas and apartments for many years In Italy. Our rental in Positano was near the top of the list. The unit was spotless, fully equipped and had perhaps one of the best views in Positano. Gaetano provided us with all the inside information and was a great host. Breakfast on the Terrace was Fantastic. It was the best of both value comfort and location. We will look forward to our next rental at this Picturesque rental.

Paradise in Positano!

Our group of 8 arrived in Positano on October 4th for our 5 day stay. The owner, Gaetano gave us a wonderful greeting! He arranged parking for our car and checking in was pure ease. Gaetano had wonderful suggestions of places to see and eat. One restaurant in particular was our favorite. A driver picked us up, what a treat! La Terra (L'orto in Tavola) This was a great apartment, each couple had a wonderful room. There are two floors and two lovely balcony's overlooking Positano. The views are spectacular. Full kitchen in both apartments. Very quiet and relaxing! Would highly recommend Villa Maristella if you plan on visiting Positano. I know we will be back!

A little bit of heaven

Great apartment. Gaetano, the owner, was on the street waiting for us when we drove into Positano. He arranged parking for our car. He had several recommendations for dining, shopping and touring. The apartment is spacious and very clean. My husband and I were travelling with our children, ages 22 and 24. We could walk everywhere. It was so relaxing to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view of the sea. The apartment is located on the only road through Positano so there is a small amount of traffic outside the door., The apartment is nicer than the pictures. I would happily recommend this property to friends and relatives. I take early morning walks and would take the steps down to the beach. On the way back I would walk through the town and check out the shops. If you don't like the steps, you can walk on the road or catch the bus. We walked everywhere. There were so many great places to eat. We ate dinner out each night, but the kitchen is well stocked if you want to cook.

Nearly perfect Positano villa!

Gaetano is great and he has a really nice property and great location. Really enjoyable place and Positano is amazing. Only a couple of small items that we'd request if we returned. The first is new fresh large fluffy towels like a hotel as the towels were thin and well used. Also, we'd request that the small trash/recycle cans on the balcony be moved as they attracted flies which made the experience on the balcony not as enjoyable. A nice surprise was new furniture on the balcony. So these two small items--especially some new towels would make it much more enjoyable. Again, good experience overall and Gaetano is great. .

Wonderful location in Positano

We were 2 couples staying in Mare apartment. It was perfect for us, clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our 5 night stay. We spent a lot of our time at the apartment on the balcony as the view is just spectacular. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a lounge area and kitchen. It was all clean and well maintained. The location was great as the bus stopped out the front. We would walk down the many steps to the beach or to town and catch the bus back up. There was very good restaurants nearby and a little supermarket which had everything very close also. Gaetano is a wonderful host, he explained where everything was and how to get to the beach etc. and we enjoyed having a chat with him as he walked by to his upstairs apartment. I would definitely return to Mare and would recommend to family and friends. Friends of ours had stayed in the larger apartment above and had recommended this to us and we are very glad they did.

Worked out great for us

Our group included 11 people, married couples and singles. We rented both levels and it worked out perfectly. Every bedroom has it's own bath and shower. The place is very clean. The owner was very responsive to our needs and he stays on site. The description was accurate. It is located within a short walking distance of a liquor store and a longer walk to 2 small grocery stores. If you buy too much, they will help you carry the stuff back. There are plenty of restaurants that you can walk to and their bus system is very simple. There is a bus stop a few feet from the door. There is an excellent restaurant that will send a bus for you and drive you to the top of the mountain for a wonderful meal for whatever "mamma" is cooking that night for 35 euros for everything. You can walk down to the beach if you are physically fit or take the bus nearby and take a ferry to nearby towns. So the location of this villa is ideal. The kitchen is out fitted if you want to cook. We brought our own American coffee. There are coffee pots. The TV has many English speaking channels and there is free wi fi. Both levels have a wonderful porch that we would gather on for coffee or wine or pizza. I would recommend this villa. Gaetano is a great guy. Remember to write down his cell phone number for your arrival.

The apartment that we rented was beautiful. We all enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely rent from Gaetano again. The listing was accurate regarding the locaton, layout and facilities. Clean, Comfortable, Amazing City & friendly Family

I rented this villa, along with another one, for me and my family to stay at during my wedding in Positano. Gaetano and his family were very friendly. Gaetano and I emailed back and forth several times about our arrival and he was always very responsive. When we arrived he had the rental set up the way I asked, even making some special arrangements. The villa was clean and the rooms were all very comfortable. We rented the entire villa. There is international television set up on the top floor, which after traveling so long was a blessing to have channels our own your language. The villas were set up so we could make food, brew coffee and do laundry, all of which went to great use. It's located very close to a bus stop for the local bus. The local bus drives in a circle around town, so you can get most places with ease. Our other villa was 50 steps down from the road, or 250 steps up from the beach - anywhere you wanted to go was hike. Both the villas have a balcony with table and chairs. Our families spent many nights out on these drinking, laughing and admiring the view. I would definitely recommend this villa to my friends and family. For the price and the amount of people you are able to fit, along with the friendliness of Gaetano and his family you can't go wrong. By the way, Gaetano's sister-in-law saw my brother and two sisters on the side of the road arriving with all their luggage and lost because their phones weren't working. She asked where they were going and when they said Villa Maristella. She put all them in her car and drove them right there. Also, Gaetano's son-in-law is the vice Mayor and married me and my husband.

Nice Holiday in Positano

I recommend the Mare apartment. It's close the main road - Viale Pasitea -,near shops and restaurants. Everything is the doorstep, only 18 steps, It's very important in Positano. It's so easy to reach the Positano Center, by bus or walking. The owner is a good host. We have a problem with the travel card and Gaetano assist us. Thanks again Gaetano. At last, Positano is definetely Wonderful!

Gaetano and this apartment are WONDERFUL!

I booked a stay in this apartment online and from start to finish, the experience was wonderful. Gaetano answered emails promptly and was literally waiting for us outside when we arrived. The apartment was perfect for our family of five, with two bathrooms, two quiet bedrooms and a pullout couch--clean and well-equipped, and Gaetano was so helpful with instructions and suggestions. We stayed over Easter weekend and he even brought us homemade pie and Columba cake. I definitely recommend this villa--it is what it looks like on the website, with fabulous views and a central location. Ahh, Positano...a presto! Take comfortable shoes--lots of steps!

Our experience with this property is "Outstanding". The property is well kept and clean. Everything was in good working order. The view from all levels of the house is wonderful. Great for early morning coffee and late day wine drinking. The location is great. It is very easy to get to shops and restaurants. The local bus for Positano stops right by the house. If walking is required, the road and or steps are handy to get anywhere. A great little food store is very close by as well. The best experience during our stay was the owner of the property, Gaetano. He was there upon our arrival to help us get adjusted to the house and answer any and all of our questions about where to find things and what to see while there. His recommendations were 100% right on. Any thing we needed during our stay, he was there to make sure we got it. We can not express how great he was during our stay. This stay in this property was one of the best vacations we have every experienced. We would love to return some day to Positano. If we do, we will definitely stay here again. Perfect Positano

My wife, daughter, and I stayed at Villa Maristella (Mare) from August 13th - 20th, 2011. Our stay could not have been better - the owner, Gaetano, met us upon our arrival and gave us a tour of our apt - a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a full kitchen, wifi, cable, and a/c. The latter turned out to be a most important amenity as it was extremely hot the week we were there. Gaetano (and his family) were the perfect hosts - they even invited us up to their home (the villa above us) to view the Ascension Day fireworks from their panoramic terrace. The villa is conveniently located close to (2) markets and has a playground across the street - which was great for our daughter, now 3. Needless to say, we had a wonderful stay and would return again in a heartbeat!

Paradise in Positano

Mare in Positano was wonderful! The owner, Gaetano, greeted us at the door and helped us with our bags. The villa was very clean, spacious, and it had a million dollar view. It is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful vacation. In my opinion, villas in Italy should come with more towels than they do, and Americans will miss having washclothes, but this was the same for every villa we stayed in during our Italian vacation. Gaetano was so accomodating! When we needed beds rearranged a bit, he immediately had people come in and change things around for us so that we had twin beds in one bedroom instead of a queen bed. He then made up a bed in the living room for our 5th person! Just to be clear, there were five of us on our trip and there was always plenty of room for all of us. One of our favorite things to do was to sit out on the patio and watch the action. You can see the sea down below or you can watch the neighbors going about their routines. The villa is right off the street, up about 18 steps, so you are close to everything. To get the Positano Interno bus to go down the hill, we either waited at the Best Western next door, or we walked down the hill a very short distance to the Grotto bus stop. You must see the Grotto area built into a hill....fascinating! The small grocery is a ways up the hill, only about a 5-10 minute walk, but coming back down is easy. I highly recommend Mare villa in Positano. The whole town was an experience of a lifetime!

A little piece of Paradise

Positano is a beautiful location with beautiful views. We stayed with Gaetano at his Villa Maristella. There were six adults and one child. The apartment was excellent with ample room to accomodate us all. Tastefully decorated throughout and all amenities in perfect working order. Gaaetano is an excellent host and any problems encountered (very few) were dealt with immediately. In my opinion it is good value for rent charged. We stayed for one week. Our son was married in Positano and a more beautiful location cannot be envisaged. While our Appartment was excellent and the towm beautiful I would offer a few words of caution. Positano is built totally into the hills and while it looks lovely from the sea it is hard climbing if one is walking - it is not for the elderly or infirm. Anybody suffering from hip or back problems be well prepared for tough climbs. The local transport - bus and taxi's - is adequate but ideally one should hire a car. For me it was beautiful but a once off

Location, Location, Location

If you are looking for a place that is clean, modern, great view, great location then look no more. We spent a week and wished that we could stay another. The mornings were great sitting on our patio looking out at the Sea. In the evening we would come back from dinner and sit outside and enjoy the evening with a wine night cap. I plan on taking my kids next year and no doubt will be renting this great villa again.The owner could not be more gracious and the whole town of Positano was warm and welcoming.

Everything you would need in a vacation apartment

This apartment is as good as or better than the pictures. There was nothing more we could have asked for. Gaetano has thought of everything and he and his family are wonderful hosts. The location is in an excellent part of Possitano. Although there are many hills to climb, there is a bus stop not too far if needed. One of our favorite restaurants is just down the hill, the Mediteraneo. There are grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance. The kitchen is well equipped for meals in and the bathrooms are great. Everything was spotless. Our hope is to return next year. Thank you for the wonderful time Gaetano.

maristelle Positano

The stay at Positano was great the rooms were very clean and everything was close by.ie;shops, transport etc. I would definitely recommend all my friends and relatives to stay there there is no parking available and no elevator but thats not a major problem as the property owner was most helpful great place to get fit and eat as much as you want the food is fantastic all over Italy

Our villa is located in the center of the city of Positano, from where you will enjoy a beautiful view on the sea, from there in 10 minutes walking uphill or downhill you will reach any restaurant or place where headed.
Remember: when you choosing a hotel or an B&B would make sure if it is accessible by car - many are not, which means you are dragging uphill stairs luggage on foot

Using Positano as a starting point you can easily spend your time exploring neighboring towns like Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello, the island of Capri and Pompeii escavations.
Here you don’t need to speak Italian.Get ready to walk.
Positano and the surrounding towns are built into cliffs and very hilly.
Anywhere you go is going to involve somewhat of a hike– either to up or down.
