Rockford Illinois was chosen because 3 of our party are from NW Ohio and the 4th was Minneapolis. We chose to meet in the middle....Rockford.
Nick is very pleasant, and easy to work with. The home was very clean, all furniture is new. The sofa/chair and beds were very comfortable! Everything we needed was available. We enjoyed using the patio for snacks and chit-chat while waiting for our next turn on the Pinball game. Even 60- and 70-year-olds enjoyed playing it. We would definitely stay there again!
Thanks, Nick, for being a good host,
The Birthday Girls
Our family enjoyed our stay at Mr. Toad's. It was fun to stay in an older home in an established neighborhood...so much more character! The home was updated throughout and very clean. There was a pinball machine that we all took turns playing throughout our stay and a record player to enjoy as well as two televisions. Check in was simple as well as check out. We had 6 in our family so we utilized the pull out couch in the living area as a bed...it was far superior to the typical pullout couch. We had some severe weather in the area during our stay, and the host was very prompt to reply when we requested access to the basement if we needed to shelter (we ended up not needing to do this as it passed through). Our family enjoyed visiting the local children's museum and unfortunately needed a visit to the local Swedish American hospital ER later in our visit which was as good as to be expected. We enjoyed being near Chicago, but not IN Chicago, both because of busyness and cost. We were thankful to have access to the washer and dryer and did a load of laundry while we were there. We communicated with the host after our stay just to suggest a couple minor things---a few more places to hang towels etc. as we know it is a newer listing (again he was super responsive), but we would highly recommend Mr. Toad's! Next time we hope to actually visit the Mr. Toad's shop down the street!
