Grace Adventure House, walk to Port, Lake Michigan
Experience my spacious, peaceful and delightfully bright two bedroom Cream City Brick upper flat, only 4 blocks from the sparkling shores of Lake Michigan. You will find Grace Adventure House to be an escape from the pressures and busyness of your world where warmth and charm beckon you to enter into rest. Your place of retreat is furnished with Eastern European antiques from years of living overseas and is overflowing with character inside and out. We accept dogs only - sorry.
Large, light, and cozy open living and dining rooms call for nestling in with conversation and soul-filling activities. Games, art supplies, books provided. Well equipped kitchen for the most discriminating cook. As of June, 2021, the apartment has been updated and freshly remodeled, exposing some of the beautiful brick, adding more unique furniture pieces recommended by my dear friend and owner of Design Xchange in Hartland, WI, Katie Stuckey Guindon. If you enjoy the beauty of upscale furnishings as much as I do, you’ll want to stop in and browse. Oh, and tell Katie, “Dave sent me, and thank you for the beautiful remodeling and refurnishing you helped with at Grace Adventure House!”
Enjoy views (well, at least a sliver) of Lake Michigan from the front porch wicker chairs. Grill in the shared backyard. A 5-burner gas grill available for use, patio table and chairs, a fire pit, and a nice new deck!
I respect your desire for privacy and am committed to make your stay outstanding. I’m on the property and available to help in any way I can. I am on a continual quest to experience every beautiful, adventurous and nature-y spot in the area, and I will custom download them on you if you`d like.
Reminiscent of Door County or a Norman Rockwell painting, our delightful thriving fishing town of Port Washington is only a 5 minute walk away. You`re sure to enjoy the marina, quaint shops, scrumptious restaurants and bars, 4 cozy hometown coffee shops, 2 parks that jut out into the lake and a one-mile breakwater walk out to our very unique pillared lighthouse. For those who love outdoor activities, you won`t be disappointed. The Ozaukee Interurban Bike Trail is one block away, Pirate`s Hollow Outdoor Water Park is one block, 5 minute walk to two Lake Michigan beaches (the South Beach has a kayak/canoe launch), hiking galore including Sauk Creek Nature Preserve - 5 minute walk, Lion`s Den Gorge Nature Preserve - 8 minutes by car, 379 acre Riveredge Nature Center - 15 minutes by car, and, our personal favorite, Harrington Beach State Park (complete with historic remains of a Lime Quarry Town alongside Lake Michigan and inland quarry lake with waterfalls) is 15 minutes by car. Many historic cities are within a half hour drive and await your exploration. Cedarburg (15 minutes), Milwaukee (25 minutes) and Sheboygan and Kohler (30 minutes) have a full schedule of events and attractions all year round including Summer Fest, Kohler Design Center, and Kohler Art Center.
Walking is your first best option as you’ll be just 4 blocks from all the action downtown. Uber and Lyft are available as well.

Very clean and well stocked. Check in was easy and details were provided well in advance. This location is very near the lake/pier and within walking distance of many places to eat, etc. You will not be disappointed with this place!
The apartment was very well stocked and clean. We were very comfortable during our stay. The home is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and Lake Michigan.
The property is so cozy and feels like a home away from home! Everything was clean and stocked up! Beds are super comfy too!! I loved the location as well perfect distance from Milwaukee
The hosts go out of their way to make your experience great. The apartment was better than the pictures showed, lots of room, so very well appointed, so much provided. The location was walkable to everything. Would stay again without hesitation if in the area.
A delightful apartment close to town, shops, and the lake. Janice is an attentive host and the accommodations are spacious and well appointed. A very relaxing enjoyable experience.
We really enjoyed our stay at Grace Adventure House!
A short walk to shops and restaurants, the waterfront parks and the marina.
The apartment was well appointed and the host (Janice) quickly responded when we had a question.
We’d love to return to this pet friendly place again!
We just had a enjoyable time at Grace house. Very clean, no surprises and the hosts were awesome. Very close to downtown Port Washington, which makes for some nice walks. If we need to stay in Port again, this will be the first place we look up!
It was a delight staying at this VRBO. Even though it was cold and snowy outside….we were very comfortable inside. The beds were great. Bathroom and kitchens were spotless and well stocked. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They were easy to reach when we had questions. We will definitely visit again!!!

This property was very clean, convenient and comfortable. I loved all of the little attentions to detail. The pictures don't convey how pretty everything is. The apartment is light-filled and so roomy. Fall is a wonderful time to visit and enjoy all of the colors.

Everything was squeaky clean, comfortable and cozy. Lots of thoughtful touches made our stay at this vintage house very enjoyable. The neighborhood was quiet, safe and within walking distance of Rotary Park at the port, south beach and the historic downtown area. Only a short drive to Cedarburg, Grafton and Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and would return to this property without a doubt!
The property was clean and well stocked. The many windows make it so bright. The property was updated throughout and communication with owners was superb.
Beautiful older home. Location was perfect for downtown adventures & walks on the beach. Bike path is so close.
It is located on a busy street so has some traffic noise but nights were more quiet
What a gem! Dave and Janice were super host. Always there if we needed them. The upstairs apartment was very clean and had everything we needed and more. An awesome location. We walked everywhere. From the bike trail, to downtown, to the marina, to the south beach, and Toucan’s for custard ice cream. Enjoyed the backyard fire pit to relax in the evening. Will definitely be back!
This property lives up to its photographs and description! No "fish eye" lens views! Spacious lodging with room to walk around each bed, table, furniture. Lodging is very secure with locking systems in place. We were greeted warmly by Janice who explained a variety of aspects of the property including locking/unlocking, and local eateries. Time and talent have worked together to create a stylish, but not stuffy lodging spot. Kitchen is the best supplied we've ever experienced. Thank you so very much, Janice and Dave! Happy Trails to all!

My friend and I were looking for small towns with specialty shops, great restaurants, and a beautiful area. And decided on staying in Port Washington at this rental, from online searches. The house is in a great location for walking downtown for restaurants or coffee or sightseeing at the harbor. The lake side fog that crept in was beautiful. This is simply a beautiful area of WI.This house was perfect for our time away. There were some extras in addition to the expected amenities. It was clean and inviting, with a cozy feel. It had character and charm, avoiding the trend some rentals that have succumbed to with the all-gray and white interiors and bare walls. I'd stay there again and recommend it to others. The only caution I would put out there would be for elderly or somewhat disabled persons. The stairs are just a little steep and a little shallow, with it being an older house. An elderly person may have trouble carrying any heavy luggage or items up the stairs. But also, if Dave was around, I am confident he would assist you.
