lovely home, so many amenities and creature comforts. There is a lovely barn with games for the family Definitely would stay again. Shawn, the host, was very responsive to our questions or needs.
Farmhouse was very lovely. Host had great communication with us during our stay. House had plenty of room for us all to be together but also have private space too. Kids loved the bean bag room and the barn of fun! Not a far drive to lots of other towns in this part of the state for exploring. If we ever get to Maine again, would definitely stay here again.
What a wonderful place. Both my daughter’s family and my son’s family stayed at the farm and loved it. It was comfortable for all four adults and all four children. The 6 and 8 years had a blast. The house is set up for children of all ages. It is a beautiful setting. My kids insist that we rent it again.
The property was above and beyond our expectations. From the barn filled with games to the most comfortable beds. It was everything we wanted. Shawn was very responsive and helpful. The property was immaculate upon our arrival. Great place for families with lots to do.
Overlook Farm is fantastic! Our family has been coming to midcoast Maine for summer vacation for generations and we were looking for a "home base" for our stay this year (the remote family "camp" is in Damariscotta, but we need modern amenities, too!). The house is gorgeous, spacious, well-stocked, and so comfortable. The game barn is such a great addition and has so many fun games for the whole family. We are so thankful that the Barnes family shared their special farm with us - thank you so much!
Beautifully updated farmhouse, perfect for two families to visit. We enjoyed walking to breakfast at the restaurant down the hill and a nice hike on the trails around the property. Very quiet and relaxing stay, highly recommend!
Beautiful house with tons of room. Shawn made sure we had everything we needed….. very clean and hiking for our dogs right on the property! Wonderful! We will definitely stay here again
This farmhouse was everything my family needed! We had young children and 9 adults in the house for our family vacation and this house was perfect. The barn with all the games and fire pit provided a huge space for all of us to hang out and spend quality family time together.
We loved our time at this beautiful family farm. In addition to being close to Wiscasset and Damariscotta, we loved the land and the walks. The house was immaculate and a pleasure to stay in. Having excellent breakfast waiting at the bottom of the hill was great!
Shawn was amazing, the house was beautiful, and stocked. The land was just incredible to walk around on, and the sunflower field was in full bloom, and gorgeous. 5 Stars.
The house is cozy & comfortable. Our group of 6 adults & 2 children felt right at home. It is clean & well stocked with kitchen & bathroom items. The barn was a nice surprise - everyone enjoyed games of ping pong, cornhole, & basketball! The owner was attentive & responded quickly to any questions. We enjoyed nearby attractions & restaurants. A wonderful week!
This home is beautiful, spacious, and perfectly stocked. Shawn, the owner is helpful and friendly. It was nice to have suggestions of things to do in the area and places to dine. Our teenagers loved the hideout with the amazing bean bags. The beds and pillows are high quality and comfortable. It was a perfect fit for our family - we cannot wait to visit again!
My family and I really enjoyed Shawn's farmhouse for our 2 day stay. Shawn did a great job renovating the interior of the space and everyone was commenting on how nice the finishes were. Shawn also did a great job with prompt responses to any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Wiscasset area.
This farmhouse was awesome. Exactly what we were looking for too experience Maine. Shawn is a great host. He always answered my text and he would text me on his own to see if we needed anything and if our vacation was going well. We loved the barn. Sunflower field was beautiful. I would stay here again. 5 stars is very little for this place. 10 stars!!! Awesome place.
Hands down the best historic property refinished with all modern amenities! Such care has gone into making sure guests have everything available to make the best experience of Midcoast Maine. Shawn was the most helpful and friendly host before we even arrived. You immediately feel a connection to the land and home and the history of Maine. If you don’t feel like part of the family by the end of your stay, you are doing it wrong!
This is an amazing property.
The open barn with the basketball, soccer, darts, cornhole, (and more) was a hit with the kids and the adults. The property is well maintained, the interior is renovated, clean and very well equipped. Having two full baths and full size washer-drier was ideal for a family of 6 - as is the layout - lots of room to spread out and relax.
If you grew up in the area, or have traveled through, you'll appreciate the address/location - its only a few minutes off of Rt 1 (primary tourist track running down east along the coast) and off of Rt 27 (which gets you north to Augusta and tourist points inland).
Great trip - absolutely recommend to families or larger groups looking for a relaxing base-camp with easy access to the beaches, lakes, and towns of the mid-coast region. Thanks again!
This house was gorgeous and spacious. There was plenty of room for three rambunctious kids and five grown adults. The hideout on the second floor was an absolute hit with both kids and adults, the kids slept there instead of the beds! The house was modern and the furniture was so comfortable. We had a very rainy stay but enjoyed ourselves in the house. The kitchen was well stocked with just about everything you could need. The closed in porch was a great spot to relax and listen to the rain. Shawn was very responsive to any and all messages and made sure the house was 100% ready for us! We would LOVE to stay here again, this time for a longer period of time!
I can’t thank Shawn enough- our annual family trip was fantastic and largely because of our stay!
The blend of rustic charm with modern amenities made for a perfect getaway. The house itself was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the comforts we could ask for.
One of the highlights was definitely the game barn – it was a huge hit with everyone! Whether we were playing basketball, cornhole, jenga or just hanging out, it added an extra layer of fun to our stay and we loved having that space to hang and play in.
The property is also in a peaceful, scenic location, perfect for unwinding and enjoying some fresh air. Shawn was incredibly responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay!
Overall, this farmhouse exceeded our expectations in every way. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to escape to the countryside with a touch of luxury. Can’t wait to come back!
We had three families here for the weekend to celebrate my son’s graduation from high school. It accommodated all eight of us with plenty of room when you first walk into the house it instantly feels like a place you can call home for your stay. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is a great size and stocked with what you need. The kids loved the beanbag room. We were able to use the barn which was probably my favorite part of our stay. Shawn, our host was very accommodating and helped us meet every need through our stay. I would recommend this to anybody looking to find a place to stay in midcoast Maine. Overlook Farm is homey, comfortable and nostalgic. Thank you Shawn!
