Great spot to stay outside of the park. Beds were comfy and host was excellent with communications. Such a beautiful piece of paradise. Loved sitting on the patio enjoying the evening after visiting the park. Would definitely stay again.
Can't beat the location - just a few minutes from Yosemite South gate with a large deck and wooded yard. The kitchen was well-stocked with kitchenware and spices which was appreciated for cooking. The communication with the host was clear and proactive, making check-in seamless. The downside to this property is that the lodge is quite old and rustic. This affected the cleanliness factor as things like carpeting, showers, mattresses, and appliances felt a bit shabby. It could use a few modern updates especially in the bathrooms.

Thank you for you honest and thoughtful review. We too love its location in Fish Camp, surrounded by tall pines and only minutes from the national park. We're glad you appreciated the well-stocked kitchen. We also appreciate its rustic nature as an inherent quality of this comfortable 1960's era cabin. If guests are seeking more modern accommodations, perhaps the nearby hotel would be a better choice for them.
Beautiful Cabin. Perfect location, beautiful views, very close to Yosemite Forest and Bass Lake and, Oakhurst. Had a well stocked Kitchen. Lots of rooms a very cool kids area upstairs. Thank you We had such a wonderful time
Had a great time visiting Yosemite. The house was clean and comfortable. The hosts communicated very promptly. I would definately recommend staying here
Super convenient access into Yosemite via Wawona Road. House was well-equipped and offered plenty of space and quiet sleeping for our family. We dined across the street at the lodge one night and made breakfasts, lunches and dinners at this property with ease
Perfect spot for a family vacation close to Yosemite
We stayed for 3 nights and it was great. David was super easy to communicate with, provided clear check in instructions and quickly answered the few questions we had leading up to and during our stay. We had two 4 year olds with us and the playroom upstairs was a big selling point for choosing this cabin and it was a total game changer, the kids absolutely loved it. The large deck was so peaceful, we ate most of our meals out there and our dogs loved having a place to bake in the sun. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location of this mid-century cabin when visiting Yosemite. The front deck/furniture was covered in pollen/dirt/moss. It needed a good power wash. The inside of the cabin was fairly clean but spots of mold/mildew were observed in the bathroom. The upstairs shower leaked onto the bedroom ceiling below. I ended up on the couch…. The carpet in the bedroom needed a good steam cleaning. I don’t think I’m being too critical.. the dated cabin needs to be refreshed. The 4.8 out of 5 rating seems high for this cabin. We made the best of it and enjoyed our time.

Thank you for your review. We appreciated that you let us know of the shower leak; we only wish you didn't wait until the very last night to inform us. We found that some grout had come out between tiles, causing the leak. It has been repaired. As for pollen on the deck, guests should expect that a cabin surrounded by 100 foot Sugar Pine trees is likely to have pollen and other normal forest debris on its deck. But still, we are glad that you were able to enjoy your visit.
We stayed with our kids and the house was as described in the site. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and fully functional kitchen. It was more than sufficient for us. Overall it was an excellent experience. A suggestion: there were cob webs in a few places in the house. It will be nice if you can take care of that.
We had a great time at David’s house! The location is wonderful, beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is large and well-stocked. The home is well-kept, but it needs an additional deep clean. The living room TV is also rather outdated; our family had difficulty using any of its features. However, we had an overall great stay in Yosemite National Park.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! We are glad to know you enjoyed your visit. We will relay the deep-clean suggestion to the caretakers. I'm not quite sure what is outdated about the flat screen TV but guests should feel free to contact us if they do not understand how to use anything the house offers. We hope you can visit again sometime soon!
Very comfy and cozy cabin in the woods, perfect place for a relaxing getaway trip! David was very communicative and friendly. The Cabin was clean and fully stocked with games, toiletries, and cooking supplies. Spacious deck to hang out on and enjoy coffee in the morning underneath the beautiful giant pines. Beautiful stone wood burning fireplace and spacious living room. Right next to Fish Camp general store and 15 min from Wawona general store to grab essentials. 5 min drive into Yosemite park. 5 min drive to Sugar Pine Railroad and 20-25 min drive into Oakhurst for dinner/groceries. Great location for visiting Yosemite national park and beautiful property, highly recommend!
My family enjoyed our stay at Big Pine cabin. We were able to easily walk to Tenaya Lodge, or just around the neighborhood. We have plenty of space and the homeless comfortable to stay in. The kitchen was well stocked. The only negative was that this Alabama girl overlooked the fact that there was not air conditioner! This made her hot-natured Alabama boys pretty miserable. Lucky that the house stayed fairly cool.but we definitely needed fans at night.
The house in Fish Camp was perfect for our day trips into Yosemite. Only about 10 minutes from the gate, and the Mariposa Grove Giant Sequoias. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour into the actual park.
The house itself was well equipped with pots and pans and kitchen utensils. The beds were very comfortable. Nice big sunny deck.
The little general store is a short walk, and has a decent selection of things you may need, and they have a great little sandwiches for lunch. Good little pizza spot right around the corner. Also very close to the Yosemite Sugar Pine, Railroad, which was a fun experience with the kids. We suggest the moonlight tour.
Would definitely stay again.
The location was great about 2 miles from the Yosemite South entrance and Mariposa Grove. The cabin is well equipped and spacious, especially since it was just my wife and I. Though there is no a/c in the cabin, the temperature stayed very pleasant as it was cool at night and stayed that way during the day as it is in a very shady area under the giant pines growing in the area. It also has a spacious deck with a table and chairs. If you want to stock up on food first Oakhurst is about 20 minutes before you get there and has very good grocery stores. Only an old general store in Fishcamp with little selection (basics) and expensive. Would stay her again if we come back to Yosemite.

home base for Yosemite
This house is conveniently located near the South entrance to Yosemite. It was easy to enter the park each day without long lines. The kitchen is fairly well stocked and we appreciated that it had laundry available. The beds were all comfortable. I felt that the home needed to be cleaned better. There were cobwebs all over the house, inside and out. There was a child's pacifier on the living room floor when we arrived and the coffee maker was left with old grounds in it. The upstairs shower head is at about chest height and was not very usable. All of the outside light bulbs were burnt out except one.

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to our home and somewhat surprised that you did not reach out to us at all during that time so that we could have addressed your complaints about spider webs and light bulbs. Guests should realize that traditional mountain cabins located in a forest environment will have more wildlife of all types outside the house than you may be used to; this is normal and should be expected.
The total money charged is outrageous for the cabin. Extremely old, really terrible mattresses (feel like box spring). Stairs are super steep inside and not save for anyone over age 65 to go to the bedrooms upstairs. I would have to say, your getting a super high charge just because it’s the last stop before the Yosemite south entrance. Would recommend people to look in Oakhurst which is 10 more miles away but a lot more options, unless you want to shell out major bucks for an old cabin that needs to be rehabbed

We are sorry and actually quite surprised that you feel this way. Most of our guests rate their visit with 5 stars. Guests should be sure to read the listing! We do state right at the top that this is a "1960's era classic mountain cabin." So yes the stairs are steeper and narrower than you will find in a modern home. No amount of updating will change that! But we have upgraded many aspects of the cabin since we purchased it in 2010 -- most recently installing hardwood flooring in the living room just last year. As for pricing, if that is a concern you might consider visiting on non-holiday, low season dates when discounts are more common. If you want modern, we agree that the Tenaya Lodge or a hotel in Oakhurst will be more to your tastes. But if you enjoy the charm of a classic 1960s mountain cabin that is comfortable and fully stocked, this is the place for you!
My family and I loved staying here. A traditional old fashioned, very spacious cabin with a well equipped kitchen. Instructions placed throughout were very thorough and well placed. We were cozy and very comfortable, even enjoyed the wonderful fireplace. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to enjoy our Christmas holiday here!
