Everything was as listed, house was clean and well equipped. We limited on scallops everyday and had great weather. The ice machine was a great feature for filling coolers on the boat. Would definitely stay again.
Enjoyed being able to bring our pup along on vacation. Great views ! Home is older but everything was clean. Deck, dock and cleaning station all nice . Creek behind house is very shallow, low tide only about a foot of water , but a nice way out to scallop the rest of the day . Owners were easy to reach , and neighbors all very helpful.
We had a wonderful weekend stay! The house was exactly as described, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. We all slept comfortably and really enjoyed being right on the saltwater canal. The location was perfect for bringing our boat. The canal leads directly to the Gulf, and we were able to be out scalloping within about 15 minutes! The canal is shallow, so you do need to pay attention to the tides when coming and going by boat, but this was very manageable. There is also a local boat ramp just a short distance away if needed.Overall, we had a great experience and loved the easy access to the Gulf. It was a perfect spot for a boating and scalloping weekend, and we would definitely stay again!
Very nice place to stay, great views. A lot of good places to eat.
Had a great time.
Would definitely recommend this wonderful home for your next trip.
Our family loved our stay at Heron House. The house was nice, clean, had amenities we expected to have at hand on property. Neighbors were very nice. Good location for our boat to get in and out of and easy access to the gulf. Owners responded to any concerns or questions quickly. We plan to be back July 2024.
The property is as advertised, with direct access to the Gulf, though the canal will be almost dry at ultra low tide. My kid enjoyed catching blue crabs in the canal when we weren’t busy looking for scallops in the Gulf. The view from the porch is a nice, relaxing way to spend a morning or afternoon. The downsides are so small that they’re barely worth mentioning. The pillows aren’t great and the bedrooms don’t have ceiling fans, so a portable fan is needed to have any air movement. The house does have fans for this purpose, but a stronger one is needed if you like good air movement when you sleep.Overall, it’s a great place and my family would love to stay again.
The views from the porch is as pictured - fabulous marsh view.Location and access to the gulf is excellent with marina just a short 5 minutes or less away. The gulf in this area is stunning but very, very different from most gulf beaches along the coast of Florida. If you don't enjoy boating and fishing/scalloping then there is not a whole lot else to offer so be prepared to relax and entertain yourselves; this is exactly why we were there so perfect for us. The area was hit pretty hard several years ago and is rebuilding but the scares and damage can be seen all around. The creek behind this house has a dock as shown but the water level can get pretty skinny a low tide so we opted to put in at the marina nearby. Beds were comfortable and house is pretty well equipped, we did not find that we needed anything. Plan ahead for what you need, groceries or other items are not nearby and a lot of restaurants were closed on Monday and Tuesday (FYI) despite being 'in season'. We were four adults and were very comfortable for our stay.
