What a relaxing, peaceful vacation. The condo was like a home away from home, very clean and inviting. It rained our first night there but the screened porch was a great way to spend a rainy night. We even got to enjoy watching a school of dolphins swim while lounging on the beach. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, serene place to enjoy some down time!

Check in was simple! Condo was clean and very well stocked, we had everything we needed to include a wagon and chairs for the beach! The view was wonderful and it was a very safe community. I will definitely visit again!
Even thou it was a busy holiday wkend, it wasn’t over crowded. We felt you could safely social distance and people were respectful. The condo itself was lacking, (coffee maker on last leg, shower ceiling stains, cheap linens, overall cluttered) but for the price it was ok. For a quick low key get away is was perfect.

Thank you for letting us know a new coffee maker is needed. It will be replaced ASAP. We do try to keep our rental prices competitive. We do try to provide items that may be found at home so short and long term renters can pack less. We will have the cleaning company check to be sure items remain organized from renter to renter. Hope you were able to find the eating utensils we keep in the drawer to the left of the cooking range. The cleaning company recently sent a picture of the organization in that drawer. We appreciate your review and suggestions. We strive to have happy renters!
We were pleased with the condo. It was very convenient to the beach and pool. We found that it had most everything we needed. We prepared most of our meals there and used one of the grills outside one evening. Sure the interior was dated and some places needed minor repairs but everything was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything was functional. Overall we were happy.
Although the condo needs to be updated, it was clean, kitchen had all the things I needed and the view was beautiful. Very close walk to the beach. I would suggest a small outdoor high top table to enjoy the view while sitting on the porch. The bag chairs supplied were uncomfortable and sit to low to be able to see the beautiful view this condo has to offer.

Beach escape
Excellent location in beautiful natural area, friendly complex. Good wifi and cable TV service. Love blue tile floor. Had great visit to nearby state park beach to body surf. Could use more detailed instructions on door lock code and lock box . Would have loved recommendations on local dining and groceries, lots of interesting looking places nearby.

Thanks for the reminder to leave a list of restaurants and grocery stores. Many excellent restaurants to choose from. Publix, Food Lion, Walmart grocery stores nearby.
Location is perfect to beach and pool 1 st floor corner unit can see ocean over dunes 20 steps to pool.
However this units decor is a mishmash of clutter . No rhyme or reason to the wall art. If your OCD. Don’t let it get to you.

The apartment needs some update, the balcony door is impossible to open, the digital device at the front door is not working. Smells weir when you come in

Yes, the balcony door is difficult to open. The HOA is in the process of replacing the windows. doors and siding in that order. Phase one (of three phases) has been completed. Phase two will begin in September at the end of the season. We can address any smells by contacting the cleaning company with a phone call as soon as we receive notice that there is a problem. The living room has all new furnishings. New porch bar chairs and table suggested by a guest on the way.
Me and two girlfriends stayed for a moms weekend. It was unbelievably hot and during the day the tide is out so far it is like a half mile walk before you ever even reach water! 😳 Both coffee pots in the unit are broken, so that was a sad start to the day. We had to drive each morning to go get coffee. Other than that the property is very dated but clean.

Thank you. The coffee pot issue is strange. Some travelers say both work and some say neither work. We have bought three coffee pots in the last two years. With the new cleaning company, we are working on it.

Harbor Island Condo
Condo is in a nice location. I’m glad we brought our own towels and sheets. When we arrived there was two plastic bags of laundry on the bed that did not smell or look clean. The kitchen could use a deep clean, dishes were chipped and there was junk in the drawers. When looking for the coffee decanter I opened the dishwasher which was full of dishes that had black mold on them. Needless to say, I went out for coffee each day.

We just changed cleaning companies. It is good to get this review, tho not good, so we can make arrangements with a better company.
The location was great the beach was not crowded and the area was safe. The condo was a little old and therefore had some wear and tare as expected. there was a broken tile in the bedroom that may need to be replaced so no one cuts there feet on it but overall was as expected. The condo was clean except for the bathroom smelled like someone had vomited, I suspect from previous renters and the cleaning people were probably unable to get that smell out. The renter was great responded very quickly to all of my questions and concerns. Overall the location to the beach and state park was ideal and my family enjoyed our little getaway.
Clean, short walk to beach. Great little place to unwind. Although beach was the most crowded we have ever seen it in the 3 years we've been coming here, it was still easy to practice social distancing. I only had 2 complaints / recommendations to improve property. 1- The bed was smaller than we are used to. If you removed some of the dressers you could easily fit a king in there.
2- the kitchen was not stocked with any silverware at all. We managed with plastic cutlery.
Other than that GREAT STAY.

Thank you for your recommendations. The silverware is in the drawer to the left of the range below the microwave. We are wondering if you looked there? There are two drawers on the right of the range with cooking utensils. Perhaps that's where you were looking for the silverware? We appreciate your alert and are checking with the cleaning company as there should be a drawer full of silverware. It will be replaced.
We stayed on property for Memorial Day weekend. The furniture is dated, some tiles are loose or cracked, but the property was clean and functional. Owner was quick to respond to questions. If you work remotely, don’t plan on relying on the WiFi in the evenings. I don’t fault the property owner but I don’t believe the HOA has put in a system that can support the amount of traffic and users in the evenings. It interferes with television viewing as well. The pool and beach were great and you were located steps from both.

Nice but needs a little more TLC
I suppose that anyplace would pale in comparison after having spent 2 1/2 days/nights in a very nice suite at a Hilton. However, this condo needs some refurbishment. Bed slept well, but towels and furniture cushions, pillows were old and need replacing. One of the toilet seats was broken - a new one was installed while we were there. Other than this, the place was serviceable and handy to the laundry room (right next door). It is also VERY important to know that the beach where you can swim is about 2 1/2 - 3 miles away at Hunting Island State Park. However, I was grateful to be able to stay in this area and to absorb some of the very unique culture and beauty - nearby Beaufort was the place where many of the scenes from the movie "Forrest Gump" was filmed - a neat, neat place!

We are advised not to swim in the ocean when there are riptides. There are three pools on the island and one is right outside the screened patio of this villa. Each guest is called to confirm safe arrival and ask if the villa is ok. Anything reported is addressed (like the broken toilet seat). New bedroom furniture & rugs were put in new 2 years ago adding more dresser drawers, a jewelry drawer, a phone and TV to the bedroom. The stove and refrigerator were replaced new last year. The heat pump that resides on the roof exposed to the elements is to be replaced this year. Living room updates are planned. There have been no increases in rental rates for this villa since 2003 (gate fees decided upon by the Home Owners Association have increased some). Constructive criticism is welcomed. Significant health issues have prevented owner visits to the villa since June 2009 but new linens, towels and pillows are on the way. We aim to please our guests!
I was at Harbor Island by myself for a bit of repite care. As described in some of the reviews, the condo condition is a little older and a little worn. Because I was there for a month I did some cooking at the condo. It is not as well equipped as other places I have stayed. There were no large pots or skillets. Very few bowls to store or cook with. And very limited glasses, silverware and cereal type bowls. Towels were older worn towels but there were plenty. I will be renting again in the future but bring some of my own supplies with me. I had many supplies with me this time but not cooking ware. Owner was very nice and called to make sure everything went well when I arrived. Thank you Anne.

We are at the condo, and we brought a large skillet and pot along with bowls to store and cook with, cereal bowls, forks, knives and spoons (though there were some forks in a drawer with cooking utensils), new towels and bath cloths. Also 16 oz cups because the tile floor is unforgiving to glasses accidently dropped on the floor (perhaps that's what happened to the missing glasses. We aim to please!
My husband and I decided on a spur of the moment trip to get away for the week. I wanted to get pictures of the full harvest moon over the water. We found this first-floor condo on VRBO and booked it immediately. We were happy to find one that allowed us to bring our dog. We had some trouble with the keyless lock but called the owner and she helped us fix the issue immediately. She also checked with us later that evening to make sure the condo was clean to our expectations and that it was equipped for all our needs. Unfortunately for me, on Wednesday I began to feel ill and felt rough for the rest of my trip. I spent more time than I planned in the bed, but I can honestly say the mattress was, by far, the most comfortable one I've slept on since we've been coming to Harbor Island. I was feeling really sick when we left and failed to pack my jewelry. The owner was very sympathetic and saw to it all my things were safely returned to me. In spite of my flu, it was a restful trip.

Not what expected/ and expensive
I knew this place was older from the pictures.
But… I’m sorry to say it’s really old inside.
Very shabby. And Not in a chic way at all. Wallpaper peeling, stains on the walls, Tile is loose and grout is missing.
The basic cable box has a poor connection and cuts in and out …not many channels. So,
Bring a smart tv ,DVD player or fire stick if you plan to watch a movie or tv.
The two couches are very uncomfortable.
The mattress is uncomfortable.
This is not the beach you can swim in either, it is near the sound of the ocean which is different.
Hunting Island beach is real close to this location…. And that is where we decided to have our beach day.
The location is beautiful and that is the best part about this place.
Parking fees, plus other fees = this place is more expensive than you think.

Repairs, new furniture and renovations are in progress. Thank you.
First of all the host never returned ONE call I made to him!! No pass day of arrival. Property is beyond need of updating!! Grout between tiles was filthy! Looked like black mold under bar along with a surge protector that was rigged up! No Ice maker and trays (2) of them were broke! Stove was old and foil under burners was nasty. Coffee maker did not work! Wall paper bucked up and outside of front door was filthy. I was disgusted at this property and ended up staying with my sister up the road because of this! If you desperately needed anything then good luck with getting in touch with the host Ty.

Not contacting the traveler was caused by miscommunication between my son Ty and I: he thought I responded, and I though he responded. I will do the responding from now on. We learned the cleaning company was not doing all the requested services when the HVAC needed repair. The filter had not been changed at all as requested. We now have a new cleaning company. We bought three (3) coffee makers in the last two (2) years and have yet to discover why they stopped working. We have asked the new cleaning company to check and see if we need another one or if the one we have needs cleaning. We have repaired the garbage disposal twice because coffee grounds were poured down the sink instead of in the garbage. We do strive to give travelers a positive experience and appreciate reviews both positive and negative. Ann

Why they chose this property
Once I felt the gentle breezes and saw the flowing waters, sandy beach and spacious views of Harbor Island, I was hooked enough to find my property.
What makes this property unique
Remarkable sunrises and sunsets, access to swimming pools, collecting sea shells, walking among the terns, pelicans, egrets, herons and horseshoe crabs, 24-hour security, graceful sand dunes covered with sea oats and coastal grasses, peace, tranquility and a wonderful place to take the grandchildren.
