Located in Union Pier, this holiday home is on a lake. St. Julian Winery - Union Pier Tasting Room and Ghost Isle Brewery are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Lake Michigan and Edward and Elizabeth Leonard Wildlife Preserve. Round Barn Union Pier Tasting Room and Local are also worth visiting. Take in the nearby slopes with cross-country skiing, or try out other outdoor activities such as sledging.
What a wonderful vacation. The house was perfect for our stay. Walkable to the market, Resturants, ice cream, and the beach. Couldn’t ask for a better stay.
This house had everything we needed and was close to the beach as well as town. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable week. Everyone loved the bocce ball and the hot tub.
Our fall weekend getaway in Union Pier was fantastic! The home was comfortable, well-decorated and in a great location - walking distance to town, the beach and out for neighborhood strolls.
We really enjoyed this property. The fire pit, and proximity to the lake, antique shops and wine tasting rooms were exactly what we were looking for. Very comfortable stay!

Jasmine, loved that you enjoyed so much about the surrounding area! Wine and Antique shopping is a great way to spend the afternoon!
Used the house just for sleeping as we were visiting friends in the area and hung out at their house. The beds were NOT comfortable. Loved the location but the old mattresses just didn’t cut it! Invest in new beds or mattress toppers at least. I’d love to rent this unit again if the beds are different.
This property is absolutely a perfect location for both Lake access and downtown. It's gated and great if you bring a furry friend with you. Very clean and has everything you need for a wonderful stay.

Eric,
Thanks for leaving us such a nice review! Glad that the home was such a great fit for you and your pup and group!
We'd love to host you again.
We had a really lovely stay, and I wish I could hit 4.5 stars. That half star is only because 1. the house ended up being way tighter than we imagine from photos, especially with two pack-n-pays in tow. 2. There was definitely more pet hair and such around than we would have liked, but it didn't impact too much. 3. The porch string lights weren't working and it would have been awesomely cozy with them! Otherwise, the location was great, the house was well-appointed, and we had a super nice weekend with our friends.
I really enjoyed my stay. Loved the screened in porch, fire pit & chairs, beautiful & updated bathrooms, updated kitchen, laundry and all the comforts of home. McKinley is my favorite beach and I loved that it was the closest beach. Saw an abundance of wildlife - deer, bunnies and a fox. It’s a very peaceful place - highly recommend!

Chrissy, thank you so much for this lovely review and we are so glad that you enjoyed the peaceful natural elements around the home . We really enjoyed hosting you and hope you think of us again next time you are in the area!
This was the perfect quiet get-a-way for my husband and myself. We were close to everything if we wanted to go into New Buffalo or up the coast to Sawyer or Stevensville. Shopping for antiques? Yes. Eating fresh food? Yes. Stop at a brewery? Of course. Walks on the beach or in town were great. The cottage is so comfortable though, it is hard to find a better place than the screened in porch. Thank you.
This house was really cute, with a great location. However, the heating issue was a major problem. At first, we couldn’t get the heat to work. Then, we got it to work (there are two radiators that are the heat) and the knob on one of the radiators broke off due to melting. The house was SO hot we had to open windows to cool it down. In addition, I burned my foot when I walked past the heater, and my daughter burned both of her legs on them as well. It seems like a major fire hazard and liability. I wouldn’t stay at this house again.
Mostly Enjoyable - But Heating Source Needs To Be Addressed
We stayed for the long Easter weekend and overall had a nice trip with our two children under the age of 4. Some positives I want to mention: the house is recently renovated and very clean. The communication with the property manager was always very prompt and they were eager to help with any issues in a quick manner. When we arrived, there was a bag of snacks and goodies and I thought that was a really nice touch. And unlike other properties I have rented, there were plenty of supplies (towels, toilet paper, etc).
The thing that I have to mention though is the heat. And I realize most people only rent these properties in the warmer months and so it wouldn't be an issue. But this property is marketed as a 3 bedroom home, which is it, but there is only a heat source to two of the bedrooms. And that should have been communicated prior. Because in the evenings and overnight, it was absolutely frigid. The first night, when we realized there was an issue with the heat, I was pleasantly surprised that they sent a maintenance worker out at 10pm. And he helped us get through that first night by showing us some tricks of how to work everything (there is no central heat/air in this property - it's baseboard heating). But with two very small kids, I can't leave bedroom doors open all night in an unfamiliar location to try to get heat in there. So we were only able to utilize two of the bedrooms which was really a hassle because of the ages of our kids and the routines they are used to. The next morning, the maintenance man came back and brought pastries (very nice!) for us and said he could bring a space heater for that third bedroom. But we were not comfortable having our toddler sleep in a room with a space heater. So we worked it out but it really did impact our nights pretty significantly. And again, everyone was very responsive and I think tried to help the best they could. But the property description should have clearly stated there was not a heat source to the third bedroom. The first night it was down to 61 degrees inside the house and that's just unacceptable for small kids. I know they have recently renovated the property and I think still getting to know the place.
Aside from that, we thought the location was convenient. It's probably about a 7-8 minute walk from the beach. The outdoor area they have created at the house is also very nice with seating and a fire pit.
