Why You'll Love Staying at Thunder Bear Hideaway

Thunder Bear Hideaway is a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath Pigeon Forge cabin rental conveniently located near downtown attractions, shopping, and dining, that comfortably accommodates 6 guests in total comfort.

Living Room

Step inside and you can’t miss the living room’s beautiful centerpiece–a river stone fireplace, set in a wall full of windows. Take in the leafy view framed by four big windows that rise all the way up to the cathedral ceiling. Light pours in on the honey-gold wood that graces the walls and floors.

Turn on the flat-screen TV. What will you binge as you relax on the leather sofa or curl up in the extra-wide armchair? Both are delightfully adorned with a pattern of strolling bears. Need to check your email, or just want to play cards with the kids? Hop onto a high stool at the living room table made from an old-fashioned wooden barrel.

Kitchen and Dining Area

The fully equipped kitchen is just steps from the living room, so snacks and drinks are always close at hand during movie marathons. With ample counter space and a double sink for quicker clean-ups, this kitchen is ready to help you tackle your heartiest lasagna recipe, or just whip up a picnic to take on a hike. The kitchen includes all the cookware, dishes, and utensils you need.

The eat-in kitchen gives you lots of elbow room for everyone to enjoy meals. Dine at the wooden farmhouse table, with classic Windsor chairs for four.

Bedrooms

The main bedroom is country chic, from its sweet, bear-bedecked quilt and log bed to its warm wooden walls. Lie back on the king bed to watch the flat-screen TV, then settle in for a great night’s rest. In the morning, the convenient en suite bathroom means you can get ready in a snap and head out for your day in Pigeon Forge.

Thunder Bear Hideaway has a secret: The loft is so roomy it’s home to a bonus sleeping area with a queen-size log bed. A second bathroom means no waiting.

Game Room

The downstairs game room is your headquarters for hours of fun. Rack up the balls, grab a cue and laugh as you play pool. Hold a friendly tournament and let the winners pick dessert tonight! The game room has its own flat-screen TV plus a cafe table and chairs, making it an ideal space for kids or teens to hang out for pool, TV time, and board games. The game room also has direct access to one of the cabin’s two decks.

Outdoor Spaces

Out front, Thunder Bear Hideaway welcomes you to its roofed porch. Out back, two covered decks are your outdoor living rooms, where you can sip coffee or moonshine, read or catch some Zs in the fresh mountain air. A bubbling hot tub is all yours, 24/7. What could be more refreshing than slipping into the hot tub and soaking your tired muscles after a day in the Smokies?

Other Amenities

No need to stuff your suitcases for this vacation! The full-sized washer and dryer give you the option to pack lightly and toss in a load of laundry whenever you want.

Use the cabin’s complimentary Wi-Fi for booking tickets to shows or ordering takeout online.

Great location, excellent communication with the host company! The driveway is rather steep and the mattresses are so firm that a good night sleep is hard to come by. If you like a firm mattress, you're set!

New Year’s trip

Great Cabin for family getaway! Driveway intense, after the first day we parked at bottom of the property and walked up to door.

Thank you for you review and we are so happy to learn you enjoyed your visit. Yes the driveway is very steep and there is really not a lot we can change to make it any different.

Thunder Bear

The only negative was the steep driveway and parking. Very challenging to park two cars on the driveway

We will NOT be returning to any rental managed by Colonial Properties, especially not Thunder Bear Hideaway. When we arrived, we quickly realized the driveway was way too steep for our truck, let alone the trailer we brought with us. We called the number just before 8:00 PM, and they told us they didn’t have another property available. They asked if we could stay and offered a partial refund for the inconvenience. We agreed and said we would call back in the morning when the owner was in to approve it.The next day, we called back and were told they had no record of our previous call, even though we used the same number. They refused to do anything to help. Then they claimed trailers are not allowed at the property, but that is not stated anywhere in the listing. On top of the poor customer service and lack of communication, the property itself was disappointing. It is much smaller than it looks in the pictures. The “master bedroom” barely has space to walk around the bed, and there is no room for luggage or a child’s sleeping setup. The second bed is not in a private room at all. It is out in the open on the lower level near the pool table and hot tub exit, so there is no privacy.Overall, this was a frustrating experience and very misleading. I would definitely think twice before booking.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about your experience at Thunder Bear Hideaway and the frustration you encountered during your stay. We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding your initial call and the follow-up the next morning. This is not the level of communication we strive to provide, and we are reviewing this internally to ensure better consistency moving forward. We would also like to clarify that our team did offer the option to relocate you to a different accommodation; however, we understand that the situation was still inconvenient and did not meet your expectations. We recognize how important driveway access and vehicle accommodations are when planning a stay and will be reviewing our listing details to ensure any restrictions or accessibility considerations are clearly outlined. We also regret that the layout and size of the property did not meet your expectations. We aim to represent each home as accurately as possible through photos and descriptions, and we appreciate your feedback regarding clarity around space and sleeping arrangements. Your feedback is truly appreciated, as it helps us improve both our communication and overall guest experience. We’re sorry we fell short in this instance and thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention.

Great Stay!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Thunder Bear Cabin. Our stay was very pleasant. The cabin is situated just far away enough from the center of Pigeon Forge that you can’t hear everyday traffic (minus sirens from police and/or Fire/EMS) but close enough that it only took 5-10 minutes to get to The Island for family time. The cabin was spacious for 5 of us (2 adults, 2 teens and 1 8 year old) that we all had enough space for ourselves when needed. The hot tub was great to have after those long days on the town. The staff was helpful when needed (didn’t need them much at all). The only down fall we had was the driveway, it was very steep and if you have more than 1 vehicle it could be challenging for parking but we made do. Also the hot tub does face the road but we were up high enough nobody can really see while in the hot tub. If you have a small family and are going down, I would recommend this cabin!

The checkin process was very easy. The cabin was much smaller than the pictures made it look. The driveway was straight uphill and very difficult to navigate with two vehicles. The hot tub was in the deck that faced the road in plain view and my eight year old autistic son suffered a second degree burn when he fell and his hand touched the hit glass against the fireplace. I wasn't going to complain but I am not very happy with it at all.

Synchronous Firefly weekend

Nice cozy cabin. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. Rooms are somewhat small. The bedrooms have a good-sized bed, but not much room beside the bed. 2-1/2 bathrooms is nice, although the downstairs bathroom had a sporadic leak. The pool table is not really usable since there is only about 2 feet between it and the wall on two sides. Nice balconies with chairs and swing. Relatively quiet although very close to other cabins. Steep driveway, but not really an issue other than a little tight turning around to avoid backing all the way down. We enjoyed the cabin and there were no real problems or complaints, it just didn't "wow" us in any way. Just a standard cabin. Very close to town which was very nice.
