The apartment I stayed in was perfect for me. It felt very private and cozy even though there are three other living spaces within the same compound. There is always someone there to help if needed. Irecommend this place t
The bungalow was beautful with local Oaxacan flair from the painted murals of nature on the outside of the house to the colorfully embroidered pillows, table runner, and rug inside the home. The house not only had character, but it was comfortable. Juan was responsive to our needs and friendly. We did get a quicker response when communicating via Whatsapp once we were at the house in Mexico and needed something. It was an overall positive experience. I miss spending the mornings outside by the lush garden.
Loved the Xochimilco neighborhood! We had a short walk to get to everything in Centro, but we stayed during Dia de Muertos and it was cool seeing a whole separate parade and party for our barrio. Everyone we met was very friendly. The house was a good size and it felt secure with the gate to get in to the complex as well as the house itself. There’s also a cat that lives in the complex and she came to visit us several times during our stay. I have cats at home, so I was happy to have a local welcoming committee who also wanted head scratches. :)Juan was very helpful with helping us when we got lost and offering cafe recommendations. The water pressure in the shower was the only thing I’d complain about, but everything else was perfect for our needs. Fantastic value for the price!
This property is within a compound of other casitas and I absolutely loved how tranquil it was . Great location. The pictures of the house don’t do it justice. It’s well maintained, equipped with basic needs, clean, strong wifi, and the hosts offer a weekly cleaning and change of bed linens for longer stays as well as being friendly and attentive. I recommend staying here and would stay here again myself.
Really large flat in a great location. Very nice neighborhood and easy to walk to city center by foot in around 10 min. Only downside was that there were quite a lot of insects, including mosquitos, and the mosquitonet over the bed was too small. But considering the price, it was perfect.
This little casita had everything i needed for my week long stay, it's simple but lovely, interesting books and art make it cozy, and the ample outdoor space was so nice. I felt safe and Juan Carlos was so kind and attentive to any needs. The location was perfect for me; away from the chaos of centro but an easy walk to get there or to other interesting neighborhoods. Xochimilco is charming, something interesting to see around every corner. I really loved this little house!
I was comfortable in this apartment. However, it is a bare bones kind of place. I was able to make some simple meals in the kitchen, but there weren't the utensils for more. The apartment is shielded from the sun, so it's dark, which ensures that it's cool in heat of the day, but also cold before the sun is higher in the sky. Blankets were provided. I was very pleased with the hosts, Gustavo and Juan, who were attentive and helpful. I will return to Casa Yuka.
Property and accommodations was as advertised.
However, local weather was 8-10 degrees warmer than normal for time of year, up to 95 degrees F. There was a fan to cool the interior space but it was not adequate to cool the sleeping area. The concrete roof/interior ceiling heated up from direct sunlight during the day and then radiated stored heat down into the interior sleeping space all night long making sleeping uncomfortably hot and difficult..... too hot for for us sleeping bare and being adapted to a cooler northern climate.
We had a lovely stay here! Location was great; it’s in a more quiet neighborhood but only about a 15 minute walk from El Zócalo and lots of restaurants and cafes. Beautiful street art to see all around. Check in and out were very easy; we were told we could drop luggage off if we arrived before check in, and we ended up just being able to check in early which was a huge relief after a long travel day. Our hosts also provided plenty of drinking water for our stay which was very kind. The bathroom and kitchen were simple, and the bamboo on the porch made for good privacy. Previous reviewers made it seem like bugs might be an issue, but we only saw a couple, not a big deal at all (plus they seemed friendly enough). Definitely recommend this spot, especially for the very reasonable cost!
