The location was good and I like to bow hunt and they have good deer hunting in the area. My wife enjoyed her stay also, we went to a winery just a few miles away and enjoyed that also. We plan on going again next year.
Was such a roomy cabin with all of the comforts of home! Steve definitely thought of everything! We will definitely make this a yearly visit!
The cabin itself was close to everything yet secluded for a private feel. I highly recommend a visit
We had a nice stay at the cabin. It was very clean and in a nice area, easy to find. A screen in the sliding door was ripped so we did not open it. The small fridge was too cold and we had a hard time adjusting it so some of our food froze. But overall we would recommend this cabin. The area is very hilly and beautiful with lots of hiking trails. Some difficult to find.
We absolutely loved our stay here. So peacefully quiet, love the little welcome baskets. It was super clean and had everything we needed for the stay. Loved sitting on the deck enjoying the morning coffee or looking at the stars. It's great that the property is close enough to town it's not a hassle to run to the store, but it's remote enough to not be bothered.
We came to visit our son at SIU for a few days. This was a great option for bringing our little dog with us. We were very pleasantly surprised to see how well the wifi connection was as we both worked remotely during this time. The cabin was clean, comfortable and close to a residential area where we took several long walks. We also appreciated the air conditioning when the temperatures rose above 80.
Basicly the property was what we wanted but it turned out to have been infested with fleas . We got eaten up pretty good before we discovered the source . We enjoyed the area.
The cabin was situated close to some hiking trails and not far from Shawnee. I stayed there with my two four-legged hiking buddies. Plenty of room, everything worked and was clean. Place had WiFi made it easier to download my body cam footage straight to my laptop. All in all, I will stay there again. Steve was very helpful and made sure I liked the cabin. He even pointed out flaws — apologied for them; even though they were not noticeable to me. He made the stay even more comfortable than it already was. I would recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to chill at after spending the entire day exploring the national forests in the area.
I very much enjoyed staying at this cabin. It was clean, comfortable & close to the Shawnee National Forest & the Wine Trail. The bed & furniture were comfortable. The kitchenette allowed me to have all meals in, as it has a half-refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffeemaker, plates, glasses & mugs. The bathroom towels were luxurious & there was ample soap, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner. The heat & air-conditioning were easy to use. I was able to sit out on the deck every morning, even when it was raining, because part of it covered. I enjoyed hiking & wine-tasting. This is a great cabin in a fantastic spot!
The location of the stay was nice and a good value. Arriving after dark due to traffic issues, the area was not lit so seeing the key pad was difficult and the instructions on how to unlock the property were not quite accurate. The blinds in the bedroom were broken so there was a slight privacy issue. Great shower and with lots of hot water. We really appreciated the coffee supplies and snacks. We brought food to prepare but the refrigerator was set so cold, it all froze. I did not notice that there was not a stove but there was a microwave and nice grill which we appreciated. We were attending our grandchildren's sporting event so did not have time to really enjoy the deck and outdoors; maybe next time. The grounds were exceptionally well kept. I thought overall it was a good place to stay and would recommend it as a good value for the money.
This cabin is the perfect location to explore the parks of the area or the wine trail. We did lots of hiking, lots of great food, and several wineries. We loved the area and the cabin is close to highway access.
Cute cabin for a couple. The cabin was dusty and had some items that are in need of updating. It was clean overall. Bed was comfortable, towels were fluffy, and there was hot water for showering. The host had snacks, ice, and coffee available. Kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, and kitchen sink. The fireplace went to the ceiling. We didn’t use it, but would be great for a chilly night.

Anniversary getaway
Ist off, host was very gracious about the experience we had. Upon arrival went to unlock door and couldn't get it open. Called host and he said I'm so sorry the lock has been changed. at this point he told me that the fireplace would not work because they were out of propane. He offered me a discount because that was one of the features that led me to book this cabin. Upon entry to the cabin we found that it had not been cleaned. I called host and he said he was sorry and moved us to another cabin. The cabin was nice but the furniture in the living room was hard for my wife to get out of as the couch and chair set very low to the floor. It advertised a satellite but the only channels we could access was the 3 major networks and some shopping channels. The sliding screen door that goes out to patio the screen was torn and needed repair. The other thing was when you see the cabin on line it gives you the impression it is one cabin but actually is two cabins in one building. As I stated earlier host was very apologetic about issues I brought up but accomodations fell below my expectations.
Love this location as this is second time I’ve stayed here. Disappointed only saw deer one day last time every day. Not the fancy but nice and comfortable. Will be back next trip to SIU and area
Our second time staying here. Cute little place in a convenient location to family in the area. Thanks for being pet friendly! It makes it so much more convenient for us.
We wanted someplace close to SIU while we visited our daughter, but it was also close to great hiking at Giant City and other little towns with lots to do.
Perfect for hiking in the Shawnee National Forest.
Property was clean and well stocked. Even though it is a cabin, it’s right off a main road. It’s very accessible. Quiet at night! Easy to shop in Carbondale. Great location for the wine trail. Highly recommended.
