We had a really wonderful vacation at the house. It’s truly highly recommended—clean and well-maintained. The location near the water, the ferry, and various excursion spots is fantastic. The landlady is very kind and helpful. We’d love to come back again, if only the journey from Germany weren’t so long.
The house was very cute and clean, but as we got there soon found out there was multiple things broken within the house like the refrigerator door. Hot tub wasn’t filled properly. My alarm was going off on the hot tub. Shower knob was broken the towel rack in the bathroom was broken. The fan of the upstairs bedroom was broken. There was no extra linen blankets or pillows of any kind anywhere the house seems like it was just barely set up for VRBO as it was nothing extra to accommodate a home stay the owner did have good communication but everything else is unfortunate stay and pay that kind of money you expect things to be in working order.

The short version is this house should not have been rented. We arrived at 5 pm and found half of the overhead lights did not work, nor did most of the outlets. We had to hunt to find working outlets. Natalie informed me she had an electrician out previously that could not remedy the problem so they added lamps, one of which did not have a bulb. I should have been told this before I took the rental and given the option to cancel. I even talked to her 3 days before the rental about the dogs I was bringing and she said nothing. This is not right! She offered 100 off the rate for our "inconvenience" (which I have not seen) but it was more safety issues. There was a wall socket dangling from the wall board in the dining room, and there was no railing on the stairwell going upstairs. Previous reviews 2 months ago indicated things were broken but we assumed they would have been fixed by now but were not - only could use half of the fridge as one door was broken, and the TP holder in the bath was dangling from one nail. We discovered ants around the patio door. The final straw was the AC unit in the LR stopped working and I texted Natalie and she sent me a Youtube video how to fix it, which we did, but I should not be making repairs to the house. They should have been cleaned (filled with dirt and dog hair on the back) emptied of water, and batteries inspected (upstairs twin bed had dead remote) before each visit. I definitely would not stay here again.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear about your frustrations during your stay — I completely understand how disappointing that must have felt.
I do want to clarify a few points:
• The kitchen overhead lights are controlled by multiple switches, which may have been difficult to locate. I apologize for the confusion.
• The home was originally built in the 1930s, when railings were not required for narrow stairways. We have preserved that historic layout, though I understand it may have felt unfamiliar.
The portable AC unit in the living room had filled with water, which is a common maintenance need. I sent a short video showing how to drain it so it could continue working during your stay.
• The $100 refund was processed on August 9th, prior to checkout, to acknowledge the inconvenience you experienced.
We take guest concerns seriously and continue to make improvements to the property while also balancing its historic charm. I’m sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective.
Wishing you the best in your future travels.
Warmly,
Natalie
