The host was friendly and timely in respose. The cottage is perfect for our little adventure. Its wonderfully located on the lake, but close enough to town to enjoy the shops and restaurants. We ventured out to see Michigan Tech's winter carnival, checked out shops down town and snowshoed along the lake. It was exciting to have a little bit of everything. With realizing we missed some prime outdoor fun, Swedetown in particular, we are already planning to come back!
We truly enjoyed the location of this home. It was a treat to hear the lake and the stream when the windows were open. We could have sat and enjoyed the view of Lake Superior and watch the birds all day. There is WiFi but a storm took it out for a bit. Thank you for sharing!
Very picturesque and enjoyed the decorations in the interior. Lots to do in this neck of the woods and hope to return.

This cottage was everything as advertised. When driving up to the property my husband commented “Wow, this is it!” after staying in a few other areas that were not as quiet and private.
Right smack dab in wooded nature yet cleared grounds for exploring.
Steps away from Lake Superior, we were able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets as well as search for the infamous Yooperlites.
The cottage had everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated.
We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay!
The started off a little rocky, but our host was most helpful. We enjoyed wonderful weather (even thunderstorms in the UP are amazing), saw unmatched natural beauty, and managed to find a few special rocks. We definitely will come back.
The view alone is worth the trip. Clean, small, convenient location but is still secluded.

We loved our experience and would absolutely give it an 11 out of ten!!! Very cute, cozy, and clean with an amazing view! The property as a whole was beautiful, with each cottage having their own private yard space. You feel very VIP with having your own private beach on Lake Superior. The host, Phil, was also super friendly and helpful. He was great on giving recommendations on places to visit and see as well as being very accommodating! He also had a lot of options and extras to do on the
Cozy cottage, very light and bright inside. Loved sitting on the porch. Very convenient to all of the keweenaw. Loved the babbling brook and the visits from deer.
Nice quiet little cottage. Great location. Plenty of wildlife to watch. A little tight - parking a 4 place snowmobile trailer, but we got it. We would like to visit in the the summer sometime to walk the beach.
My husband and I rented this cabin for our 10 year anniversary. The cabin was perfect for the 2 of us! One of our favorite parts of the trip was all the deer that came to the property everyday. We already plan to book with them again in the future!
This sweet cottage has plenty of seating for dining, plenty of relaxing space on the couches with windows overlooking the stream and the shoreline, and plenty of comfortable sleeping space in the bedroom for 4 adults. Kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to make a dinner for your family. I even baked cookies! The oven worked great. Highly recommend!
From the hand written welcome note, local coffee, and fresh baked bread to the wildlife and scenic property our stay was wonderfully unique and very thoughtful.
The cabin is cozy and was perfect for spending time on the shore of Lake Superior. We loved the babbling brook. We found glowing rocks and saw the northern lights. The cabin had everything we needed. Thank you so much.
I hate to say too much about this cottage, because then everyone will want to stay there and it will be booked solid. This Premiere Host has a way of keeping everything updated and cleverly arranged. Love the view! The neighbors (eleven deer) were as quiet as possible as they passed by the cabin at sunrise and sunset. It's just a special place. Thanks for sharing it with us.

FYI, not “secluded, quiet” as advertised.
Extremely clean and cozy cabin. Upon arrival, we discovered this cottage is actually part of a RESORT consisting of 3 to 4 other cottages- the largest (and loudest) of which located approx 20ft from our cabin. Unfortunately, this info was not mentioned in the property description.

This is about as private as it gets... I own several other vacation cottages at a private beach on a dead end road at the shore. All cottages are private from one another with different driveways, addresses and separate yards. There are miles of undeveloped private beach to the north and south. Really you won't find something more private and especially for $150/nt. Unfortunately the guest was under the impression she rented Lake Superior as a whole. These women arrived very angry and aggressive. The one woman approached me with her phone and a picture of the beach slamming it towards me and her e-cigarette waving in the other. After I was yelled for 30 minutes I decided I needed to contact VRBO to find out how to handle this problem as I did not care to be yelled at for a week straight, all while catering to them as a host. They advised me that I could allow her to cancel and re-book another VRBO property.
Guess what they did??? Sent me an apology and said they did not wish to book somewhere else, that the cottage and grounds were beautiful. At the end of the week when they packed up they hauled off with buckets of beach stone they spent hours of (1-star) time collecting and hammering open in the yard. If they encountered anyone along the beach they would interrogate them on their total privacy issue. Throughout the week they wanted to apologize in person at the cottage but I just didn't feel comfortable with them at this point and didn't feel it necessary. I was not going to spend more time with the stress of these ladies but I felt their dishonest low star review needed a response because my cottage has been so overwhelmingly loved for several decades now. Their names have been added to a list for other local homeowners so nobody else has to endure a similar situation.

Beautiful cottage poor communication
The cottage is beautiful. The view is amazing. But beware....there is no cell service when you get there, you will need to drive to the end of the road if you dont have the wifi password with you. We were not able to find the cottage. I had called and left a message for the owner even though the voicemail says not to and texted them trying to get help to find the cottage. I am still waiting for them to respond.
Our stay in early May was wonderful! There were no crowds, beautiful waterfalls, interesting weather variations (fog , frozen harbor) and beaches for walking and rock hunting (yooperlites)! The location is great for exploring Keweenaw Peninsula. We enjoyed nature trails, lighthouses, historic copper mines, and the mineral museum. The sunsets at the cottage were beautiful. The cottage is very comfortable, had everything we needed (and more), and the sound of the babbling brook is so relaxing! The hosts were very welcoming with treats on the table upon our arrival (delicious homemade bread, coffee and more) and they gave immediate responses to questions. FYI the "tourist season" opens in mid-to-late May, so some stores and restaurants were closed or had limited hours. It didn't impact our trip as we spent most of our time outside enjoying nature without crowds and insects!
The weather let us down but North Shore Cottages did not! Check in and check out couldn't have been any simpler. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils we needed. The attention to detail, the thoughtful welcome gifts, and the care in the set up of the whole cabin was so nice and welcoming. Truly above and beyond! You can tell that the host really understands what’s important to us travelers! While we never needed to contact the host for any issues, all of their contact info was in the welcome book if we needed it and I just know they would have been happy to help if needed! My daughter and I enjoyed the easy beach access and all the amenities! Can’t wait to visit again some day!!!

About the host
Hosted by Philip Roberts
Hello, My name is Philip Roberts. My grandparents purchased this property in 1927 as a residence where they had a small farm and ran the C&H Mining Waterworks which provided city water for Calumet and surrounding area.
Why they chose this property
The Roberts family has enjoyed this beach property for three generations. We built the cottage in 1999 to share this special place with visitors from all corners of the world.
What makes this property unique
Running alongside the cottage is a small babbling trout stream that opens up to Lake Superior on the beach. There you can enjoy a campfire under the stars or even catch the northern lights, take a dip in Great Lake Superior, hunt the perfect rock or agate, fish 'til the sun goes down, barbecue on the charcoal grill and picnic at the picnic table, or take a nature walk and enjoy the natural beauty of the beach and forest. In the winter, ski, snowmobile, or snow-shoe right out your front door.
