About this property
Sunny Peaceful Log Cabin SW Exposure, Sandy Beach and Sunsets
A wonderful cedar log cabin only a few feet from the beach. Views of the islands, Foy Park and with southwest exposure you get sun all day and beautiful sunsets. The cabin was built in the 1930's and has been renovated to modern comforts.
The cabin has a great room with a wall of lake front windows, one bedroom with a lakeview window, a cozy kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The great room has a double pull out couch. The lower level has 12' patio doors, a seating area and a bar console with mini fridge.
A firepit area is on the beach by the lake. The beach is sand and small stones. The lake bottom is hard sand with no weeds. Entry to the lake is gradual and great for young children's.
Round Lake is three miles by four miles wide and around 90 feet deep. Water visibility is high, as the lake is fed from springs from adjacent Algonquin Park. Wildlife in the area include: deer, squirrels, chipmunks, otter, beaver, ducks, loons and local habitat. The lake has been stocked with Lake Trout.
One of the finest lakes in The Ottawa Valley and by most standards the largest and most popular lake in a 60 mile radius. Killaloe is the nearest town, eight miles away were you can find a bank, grocery store, health food store, chip stand, LCBO, Hardware Store, Auto Shop, Gas Station and pharmacy. Pembroke the nearest larger town is 30 minutes away. You are about 3000 feet from Foy Provincial Park which has the nicest sand beach on the lake. It is no charge to enter the park and use the beach and hiking trails, as no camping or overnight is allowed.
Homestead at Wolf Ridge Golf Course is a 18 hole course within a 15 minute drive from the Cottage.
Visit the Wilno Kaszub Heritage Museum and you can enjoy a feast of Polish food at the Wilno Tavern.
The neighbour on the other side has 2 small outbuildings by the property line, his cottage is about 100 feet from our cottage. They are a mature couple without children and very quiet.

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Gavin
My husband is from Texas and I am from Ottawa. We have two boys 19 and 22. We love to travel with our boys and discover new places. Round Lake is our sanctuary and we enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views from the great room. We look forward to spending our evenings around the firepit making smores, telling stories and singing camp songs. We hope you can create some family memories of your own at our cottage.
Why they chose this property
I grew up spending my summers on Round Lake. My parents retired here and most of my siblings have bought property here as well. We love the community, it is a very eclectic area. Lot of music, art and local talent. Festivals, farmers markets and fishing derbys. People here are friendly with a strong sense of community. This is your opportunity to enjoy our cottage and our lake community. We can offer all kinds of suggestions for outings in the area as well as leave a fully stocked binder of brochures and maps for you to plan your week. (or just stay at the cottage and enjoy the lake and sunsets).
What makes this property unique
The lake is always changing. Some days it is calm, others a wind comes up and the waves can be like the ocean. I find that we have very few bugs as we are on the windy side of the lake. With South West exposure you can enjoy the sun most of the day and watch the sunset in the evening. The deck is overlooking the beach and firepit area. The lake has very few boats so it is quiet. I enjoy a morning walk to Foy Provincial Park with my dog. I walk down the beach and through the hiking trail. (about 1.5 miles round trip). The park is a non operating park so usually it is empty in the mornings. It is a magical place.
