This place was perfect for our family including our pups. We love the location so close to Sunday River. This property is so unique, a tree house with all the amenities you and your family need. Spectacular views and cozy comforts to decompress with your family. Already thinking of our next stay!
Spent a late Summer weekend with our 2 kids and dog. An amazing and memorable trip! The treehouse is so unique and you can tell it was a labor of love to build it. The owner truly cares about ensuring you have a great time and will give advice and tips about local things to do.
Waking up in the tree tops is an awesome experience. 20 min to Sunday River. No issues checking in or getting there otherwise. Very nice shower. Great jacuzzi. Would stay again for sure.
Meticulous construction and upkeep of the treehouse. All the amenities needed without any clutter to make our stay very comfortable. The property is gorgeous with all the peace and quiet as well as wildlife viewing opportunities we could've asked for. The hot tub was a nice added bonus. Would highly recommend and would love to be back again!

Stephen, thanks so much for the review! It is greatly appreciated! I'm glad you had a great time and I really try hard to make every guest feel like no one ever stayed in the treehouse before. Thanks again and hope you come back, Rick
Celebrated a milestone birthday with my husband in this amazing house in a stunning location. Waking up each day surrounded by the tops of beautiful trees and going to bed at night with the moon shining down was spectacular. The hot tub under the trees was wonderful after a day of adventuring. Luxury stay in this incredible house.

Jennifer, thanks for the wonderful review! Glad to have you, hope I see you again! Rick
We had an amazing weekend. Rick the host was so attentive, turning on the lights prior to our late arrive, bottle on wine on the table, constant communication through out the weekend, etc.
Thank you for a wonderful time!
This treehouse was well beyond our expectations. The design was impeccable and the host Rick was truly the best!! He was so generous with offering ideas for things to do in the area and just an all around great host. We would give this place 10 stars if we could! Thanks again for the trip of a lifetime. We will be back!
This booking lived up to everything and more that we were hoping for our small family getaway — unique space that makes you smile every morning you wake up — it has it; Close to Bethel and Sunday River—that too; caring ownership that goes the extra mile on the big and small things — it has that in abundance! We stayed for 9 days, cooked, watched movies, read and relaxed all while loving the experience and the people. One last thing…the hot tub is AMAZING, steam rising above while you take in the quiet of the forest, don’t wait till day three to get in like we did!

Thanks guys, it was a pleasure having you! Hope to see you again !!!!
We enjoyed everything about this gorgeous treehouse, from the beautifully designed and built railings, wood accents and details, to the incredibly comfortable beds and linens, welcoming decor, and the fresh flowers and wine waiting for us when we arrived. We felt instantly calm and inspired, being fully in the woods but with all the comforts of home. We had a fantastic weekend getaway while still being close enough to the mountains to support our daughter who was competing in a local nordic championship at Black Mountain. Rick was very helpful and provided thoughtful suggestions on places to eat and local activities. Thanks for creating this lovely space, it was the perfect size and experience for us. We can’t wait to come back again!

Kristen, thank you so much for that wonderful review! I'm glad you had a great time, can't wait to see you back here! Thanks again, Rick
This was a dream adventure. All the comforts of home (and more) all wrapped into a treehouse! Amazing!! The host Rick had thought of everything here. The hot tub was so nice to come home to after a day on the hiking trails. You sit in the hot tub and don't hear a sound. Not many places you can go stay and get that. The sound of silence! King size bed was very comfortable. Nice big smart TV for relaxing. So many nice touches in this place. Also loved the gas log fireplace. Well equipped kitchen. Highly recommend this spot.

About the host
Hosted by R
I've been a builder for 38 years, residential and commercial. Three of my projects have been in magazines, a custom home, an American Legion Post, and a soundproof office in the midst of an industrial complex.
Since discovering the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse at Disney at age 18 I have dreamed of building a "real" treehouse. I purchased 43 acres in the mountains of Maine to bring this dream to life.
This undertaking was not a simple one, as we built a gondola to carry all of the materials to the location. Trucks, cranes, or cement mixers could not get close to this location. A smaller gondola has been built to carry all of your needs from the parking area to the decks.
Stellahouse, named for my beloved boxer, Stella, is the first building of three in Treehouse Mountain Escape.
Why they chose this property
The mountains of Western Maine have the perfect types of trees and forest to build treehouses!
What makes this property unique
Ever wanted to live in a treehouse, but with all the comforts of home? That's what Treehouse Mountain Escape is all about! My goal is to provide a unique and wonderful family vacation location that you will love. You will notice some fun details like Stella's profile, a bird, and stars carved out of cedar shingles. 100-year old stained glass windows adorn the staircase and the first floor bedroom. Accessing the treehouse does require climbing stairs and crossing a bridge to the screen porch. There is a gondola to carry your luggage and things up to the deck. Decks surround 4 sides, one holds a 7' x 7' hot tub.
