The property was very cute and fit our needs perfectly. The host was responsive to all my questions and even gave my husband some fishing tips. We were able to spend time in Lassen Park and do tons of hiking.

The title and pictures were misleading. We thought it was going to be a cute tiny cottage but it turned out to be a 1 bedroom apartment under a bigger house. The space was reasonable for two people but the bedroom was weird. The bed was pushed against a door that didn't lock and could be opened at anytime. The toilet was placed on a raised platform that made it awkward to use. There was not much parking. It is not a big vehicle friendly location. Was tough turning around. Overall it was peaceful and quiet.

Thank you for your review. Our cottage is very unique as the original cabin was built in 1963. We feel it is a very comfortable space for our guests. We have a shared driveway with neighbors behind our cabin which does limit some parking.

Comfy cozy place

We are a family of 3 who stayed at this cottage for couple of nights to explore Lassen National Park . Checking process was easy and the cottage was spotless clean and had a welcoming vibe ! The kitchenette is well equipped . The sofa bed is comfy too . We watched the sunset by the lake . There’s a well stocked grocery nearby and a lot of good eateries . The host was super responsive to questions . We would definitely recommend this place for a quick stay !

This is a nice cottage for 2 on a short stay. The good: a quiet & clean location that is close to the lake. The bad: no privacy with see through window coverings. No range or stove to prepare food. Very limited parking.

Weekend Stay

Cute, clean, and quiet reasonable stay for 2 over the weekend. Solid location/access. A couple things that could be better; it is a downstairs of a home that has the stairs access door blocked but the stairs to go up has clear plexiglass with a curtain covering the view of the stairs. However, the curtain is on the owner side and has some easily viewable cracks. We covered the entire opening with a blanket and changed in the bathroom every time. Additionally, there were no privacy curtains on the windows that would give real privacy as well as block sunlight in the mornings. Overall good stay but would find something probably more private in the future.

Place was clean and easy to check in . Host was communicative and we had everything we needed. The water pressure and the double shower head was a nIce surprise. I did notice that some of the privacy issues mentioned on previous reviews were still there: There were no curtains on the kitchen window , very thin see through curtains on the bedroom window, and the giant floor to ceiling window and glass door inside of the bedroom with curtains only on the host side. We were lucky that the upstairs cabin was not occupied, so we had zero issues. But I can see how other guests might have felt uneasy to have a window inside of their bedroom where anyone could peep in from the other side. It would feel much more comfortable to have curtains on all windows that the guests have control over it.

The cottage was really cute and well set up. Though there was no stove, the hot plate and toaster over made breakfast easy. Lovely to sit in an Adirondack chair in the morning and have coffee and look at the lake and soak in the mountain air. The parking right in front of our door was appreciated. We will go back.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I live in Central California and are walnut farmers. We are self employed and work on Wildland fires and other major incidents as they arise. We enjoy meeting people from all over the country and other countries as they participate in emergencies we work on.

Why they chose this property

The location of our cottage has always been special to my husband as he spent all of his life visiting Greenville and Lake Almanor as his family roots are here (and in the central valley). Grandma H built this cabin in 1962 and the cottage was added in later years. Many apple trees grow on this property, hence the name 6 Apple Cottage. One cannot get enough of the enormous beauty of Lake Almanor and the surrounding areas.

What makes this property unique

The beauty of Lake Almanor and it's many amenities in the area. Lassen National Park, Seneca (old gold mining town), the many small lakes hidden in the forest. Come discover all of the hidden gems!
