I'm a studio artist and have made my living making pottery, tiles and sculpture since 1981. I taught in universities for a number of years but found that I loved running my own studio. It gives me the freedom to work on my property and add tiles, sculpture, architectural elements, gardens and out buildings.

Why they chose this property

I bought this property because I love Austin and especially this area. When I found it, the cooling breezes seemed to always be blowing. First I built the studio, then my house and pool, and to capture those breezes, IñJust recently we finished the Casita which I'm calling CasitAlegre.

What makes this property unique

This 'compound' developed organically. We'd add one building and another just seemed to want to be built. We've been conscious of making it as environmentally green and sustainable as possible. The main house is built with compressed earth blocks, there are many solar panels, a vast water collection system, and of course the gardens. So we've been at it for a while, and I still have new ideas of things to build and improve.
When you visit you'll find a wonderful pool for relaxing or swimming, and just outside the gates, good walking routes and great bike routes.
