Sitting on the deck watching the sunset over the harbor is utterly spectacular as is reading a good book while rocking away the afternoon. Bass harbor is a bit away from the usual hustle and bustle of MDI, which makes it a wonderful retreat after a day of hiking

Spectacular setting right on the water with unequaled views of Bass Harbor. This is a uniquely Maine experience. It’s a great home base to explore the island and also an incredible spot to take in sunrise, sunsets, stars and everything in between from the waterfront deck.

Anniversary Stay

This little cottage was perfect for our anniversary trip to Acadia!! It was right on the water and we watched the tide come in and go out. Our first night we made dinner and watched the sunset. It was GORGEOUS!! Ned was such a great host! We asked for recommendations and went with his. It did not disappoint!! The location wasn't too far from Acadia and close to the light house. It was an amazing stay and highly recommend!!

Thanks Mal for the kind words - which view was that, I might ask? Was it the early sunrise as the light falls first on the far side of the harbor, then like the daylight curtain rising, the harbor comes to life, or maybe the view at the end of the day when the sky lights up red, orange, purple and blue. It's a show stopper for sure; thanks for sharing.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful spot. Rustic and simple but very comfortable - has everything you need, nothing you don’t. The sunsets from the deck are spectacular! Ned is a great and very communicative host. It was an excellent base for exploring Acadia and Mount Desert Island with our dog.
