About this property

Walk to Acadia! Maine Farmhouse 2025: 3 night min May-Labor Day

Smack dab between Northeast Harbor (5 min) and Bar Harbor (10 min) this fully renovated Maine home has all the comforts of a new home with all the charm of a historic maine farmhouse. Giant tub and rain shower downstairs, spa shower with dual water heads upstairs, fully stocked chef's kitchen, granite fireplace are among the features to make your stay comfortable.

The home is conveniently located on Sound drive on a 1.5 wooded acre lot with a beautiful flower garden, mature lilac bushes and crabapple trees. A short walk along Sound Drive to the entrance of the Giant Slide Trail brings you directly into Acadia National Park for hiking and a five minute ride in either direction brings you to Eagle Lake or Upper Hadlock for biking. Acadia at your fingertips (and hiking boots)!

After a day of hiking and popovers at the Jordan Pond House, put your lobsters on to boil while the family gathers around the square dining table (seats 8, dishes, silver and linens for 12-16) then its over to the fireplace for drinks, snacks and games or choose a movie from the huge dvd selection... A perfect end to a perfect day in Acadia...

Three second floor bedrooms with 1 King, 1 queen size bed and 1 full size bed and gorgeous linens sleep two each and share a full bathroom. The 3rd floor bedroom has its own half bath and has four twin beds. *Please note: in 1910, hallways were not a thing. The master bedroom is completely separate, but the 2 back bedrooms and the third floor bedrooms are connected by doorways and you have to walk though rooms to get the other rooms. An additional full bath with separate bathing area and claw foot tub with rain shower is located on the first floor.

A truly comfortable and serene home, well behaved pets will be considered.

*Other notes: a max of 2 parking spaces are provided
*I price the nightly stay below the average because I understand that you can hear road noise. The town repaved our little two lane road that was once a horse path and now it is too tempting to fly by on it. I have been lobbying to get the speed limit reduced but in the meantime, I have put in noise reducing curtains in the front rooms.

Beautiful fully equipped kitchen with two refrigerators. Bathrooms were very nice and spa like. Plenty of space for everyone. We were up for our daughter’s wedding and there was enough space to get ready and prep food. Parking was limited, owner has a cabin on property. She was accommodating as she was traveling during our stay.

We had a lovely stay at this charming vintage farmhouse located close to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and Northeast Harbor. The location was ideal for exploring the area, and the peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing home base. The home was clean overall, and the kitchen was well-equipped with appliances, making meal prep easy. We especially appreciated the beautiful flowers outside — a lovely touch that made the place feel welcoming. The upstairs bedrooms did get a bit warm during the day, but the provided fans made it comfortable enough for sleeping. The beds were decent, and the pack ’n play with a mattress was perfect for our baby — a thoughtful addition that made traveling with a little one much easier. If you enjoy a vintage, cozy atmosphere with easy access to Acadia and nearby towns, this farmhouse is a great choice.

Lovely home with easy access to everything

The home’s proximity to Bar Harbor and various points of interest in the park itself was great. I only wish we had more time to explore the quiet side. Owner was very responsive and the home was immaculate and thoughtfully appointed. The road noise was not a problem with fans running at night and the windows closed. I would worry about the bedrooms being hot during warmer months, but I would love to return in the Fall sometime!

Wonderful stay

We had a great stay at Tracey's beautiful home. The kitchen was so well stocked with 2 fridges and all the utensils you would need (and a grill outside). The home was beautiful and comfortable. It was also in a great location, close to great hikes and Bar Harbor. We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic location and place

Myself, my 3 sisters and mom stayed here for four nights. We had a great time. We had no issues with the walk through rooms on the second floor, we just left doors open in case anyone needed the bathroom. The master was private though. We also used the twin beds in the attic which does have its own half bath. While rooms had no AC we left windows open till bed time then closed them at night to block the street noise which was super minimal at night. 3rd floor attic was the warmest, so be sure to open the windows early too cool off. We turned fans on high which blocked any remaining noise and kept it cool. No curtains on rooms other than master, so light does come in early, but was fine for us. Kitchen was stocked with everything you’d need to cook and bathrooms were clean. Shower head was good for a tall person. 20 minutes or less to anywhere on the island and less than 15 to Bar Harbor. Acadia just down the road.

We love our stay. If you are looking for a two story center hall colonial, this is not your house. If you are looking for a taste of old time Maine, this is your house. I sum it up as old time meets modern fusion. Funky layout. That’s the old farm house charm. We two adults with two adult children liked it. Loved the kitchen. This is the modern part. We enjoyed the living room with a family movie each night. While you are not walking into the main entrance of Acadia, it was convenient not to drive to one of our hikes. We walked the 0.2 miles down the road and onto Giant Slide Trail, which turns from moderate to advanced, so be prepared if you hike this trail. House is on a secondary road and you will get road noise from traffic. Long hikes and good food turned into sound sleep for us. Back and forth to Bar Harbor was an easy drive. Loved Tracy’s information she provides in run up to your stay. Met Tracy on our way out. She is fabulous.

Stay in Acadia/Bar Harbor

We had a vary enjoyable stay at this location! The proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor is perfect! The hiking trail right next the the house was convenient and a highlight for everyone. The owner gave VERY detailed instructions regarding the house, suggestions for things to do, and even provided books and maps of the attractions. I would highly recommend if you are looking to stay in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. I would also check out the owners cafe in NorthEast Harbor it's a very cute place!

Comfy and gorgeous!!

A beautiful house with everything that we needed and more! Every room on arrival was a WOW moment and continued to be enjoyable throughout our stay. Kitchen amenities were awesome, as was the beauty. The soaking tub was luxurious and a great private getaway. The beds, pillows, and blankets tucked is in so comfortably that wet didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend booking a stay here!!!

Perfect Acadia home base

It was a lovely place to bring our young family to Acadia. Beautifully renovated with a big kitchen, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms and it was incredibly clean and neat. Brought baby gates to keep our youngest safe by the stairs but had lots of room on the first floor to toddler around. We loved the central location as it inspired us to explore all over the park. Check in/out was a breeze. Thanks for a great vacation home!

Charming Home

An unassuming house from the outside opens to a cozy home bursting with charm on the inside. Everywhere you look, you notice a new, previously unseen detail that the owner has taken care to include in order to make you feel as if a friend has welcomed you to stay for a while. It was the perfect home base to return to after a long day of sightseeing.

Great family vacation

House well set up for family vacation. Centrally located to enjoy Acadia, lobster, ice cream. House well stocked with kitchen items, dvds, games, linens, even bath robes. Only oddity was dispute with owner regarding damage to a chair a week after checkout. We were not aware of damage and she never told us which chair was damaged.

Enjoyable

The farmhouse was very clean and comfortable. The whole place is well stocked and the kitchen was wonderful. We loved it. Everything was decorated nicely both inside and also the grounds. It had everything we needed for a great stay. We like to hike and the location was great for us as it was basically in the middle of the park. A very short drive or walk to some trailheads. As far as visiting other parts of the park or some of the other small towns nearby everything was less than 20 minutes away. And it was always nice to go back to the comfort of the house We wished we could have stayed longer.

Convenient spot on MDI

We had a nice experience at this house. It is very conveniently located and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The bathrooms are very nicely updated. There is one primary bedroom that is separate from the others, but the other two bedrooms and the attic room all flow into each other. As a family, that was totally fine for us, but might be worth noting for groups of friends. There were a few minor things we could have used - maybe a travel soap/shampoo would be a nice touch in the bathrooms - not many places nearby to buy that stuff if you forgot it, which I did! - and another couple of lamps on the first floor, especially because the overhead light in the living room is the only light source in there. But these are just small suggestions. Overall, we were very pleased with house and location and would definitely recommend!

Traditional NE Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is ideally located close to the park, NE Harbor and the road to Bar Harbor. It is on a busy road and you can hear the road noise inside the house, however it becomes white noise after a while. It is not as busy at night. There is parking behind the house but can only fit 2 cars in a row since the owner parks on the other side of the gravel lot. The inside of the house is beautifully decorated and the downstairs communal area with living room, dining room and kitchen is air-conditioned. The large kitchen is well equipped with a double oven and two fridges. One of the full baths is off the kitchen. Like many NE houses, the upstairs bedrooms are not air-conditioned and opening windows and turning on fans helps with the summer heat. Only the master bedroom is private although the mattress was not as comfortable. The other bedrooms have double beds and are walk through bedrooms including the attic with 4 single beds and a half bath (perfect for kids). There is a full bath on the second floor by the bedrooms. The owner, Tracey, is responsive to requests and provides detailed instructions on everything in the house. We enjoyed our stay at this quaint traditional Maine Farmhouse.

Our family of 4 grandma enjoyed this well-appointed, well-stocked home. We cooked a couple of meals with ease. The house is situated on a busy road, but a large buck and porcupine greeted us one night! We followed the fireplace directions assiduously but unsuccessfully. There is a smaller rental in the backyard, but we were not disturbed by that fact. It’s a short drive to magnificent Acadia.

Our daughter called this place "The House of Dreams". It was the perfect place to spend our evenings after long days exploring Acadia. The pictures do not do this house justice. It is indeed very spacious! The beds are cozy and the hot water seemed endless! The house is located very close to all the places we wanted to see.

Lovely house that my family really enjoyed for a 3 night stay in Acadia. Was big enough for all of us with comfortable beds and a huge well stocked kitchen. It's a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor which is nice. And excellent place to stay
