☼ INDOORS ☼ You’ll enter the home into a large open-concept entryway / dining area / kitchen with hard wood floors and natural lighting. Around the corner you'll find a cozy, rounded living room with original 1900s Craftsman windows. We highly encourage guests to explore the neighborhood, especially Ott Street and the Woodbine Cemetery. Although cemeteries get a bad rap for being spooky, the Woodbine Cemetery is one of our favorite spots in Harrisonburg and a beautiful place to watch the sun sink behind the Blue Ridge.

Easy Check In. Everything as described! Awesome space, every room big and accommodating. Did not lack for anything in kitchen. Location can not be beat!!! Walked for coffee every morning, then lunch, dinner, and shopping. We have two students at JMU, visiting for last four years, beats all hotel stays!
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The house was so tastefully and peacefully furnished and decorated, everything was very clean and comfortable, and the location was superb! In addition, Allison and her husband were super friendly and kind! We would definitely stay at The Valley Hearth again!
I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay with my partner for the week leading up to our wedding. The living room was great for hanging out in, the bed was comfortable, and the location was even more convenient than I had realized!
Lovely, bright and spacious. Easy walk to town. Clean. Beds supremely comfortable and linens great, including an extra large bath towel. Would stay again while visiting or padding through.
The place was clean and Judas described. Neighborhood was quaint residential close to downtown restaurants and activities. Overall I would highly recommend.
We loved our stay here ! Immaculate home , well equipped kitchen, all good size rooms , comfortable beds and walking distance to restaurants and stores. Would definitely stay here again!
Really enjoyed staying here with my wife. We had friends over for dinner, and it went really well. The beds are great and the living room is comfortable.
We stayed for the Thanksgiving holiday to see family, it worked out great! Walking distance to Main St - shopping/restaurants. Highly recommend vs staying at a hotel.
The property was exactly as advertised. It was quiet and comfortable. There were many restaurants in easy walking distance. We will definitely stay here again when we go back the the area.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the home, Mark! Walkability to downtown is definitely one of our favorite things about this area too. Hope to host you again!
The Valley Hearth was a perfect little space for us to meet up with our Duke for a weekend visit! The space was just what we needed, and the location couldn’t be beat! Everything went smoothly from check in to check out. The house was spotless, cozy, and inviting. The container of water in the refrigerator was a nice addition for us to fill up our water bottles as we headed out to explore Harrisonburg. It was really nice to have off street parking for peace of mind as well. We’ll definitely recommend this place to any JMU parents or visitors coming up!
Met all our needs as a family of 4 with room for friends to stop by. Great local to walk to dinner and shops. Exceeded our expectations! The full kitchen and openness gave us room to spread out.
We are a bit of a tough family to host since we have young children, and they were more than accommodating! The walkability of the space was lovely. They have a very well thought out property that is well-kept and nicely furnished. Thanks for a great stay!

About the host
Hosted by Allison Kauffman
Hello! I'm Alli, a free spirit drawn to the Shenandoah Valley by the mountain views, slow pace of life, and adventurous opportunities. One of my favorite things to do in the valley is to go for slow walks around town, especially Ott Street and the Woodbine Cemetery.
My husband Tom and I live in the upstairs of our rental with a close friend. The house has been thoroughly insulated and soundproofed, but you may hear footsteps above or us entering our unit from the front porch. However, the guest space is completely private from our residential space.
We love sharing our little piece of downtown Harrisonburg with travelers from near and far. We hope you come and stay at our home in Harrisonburg, VA!
