Grandma’s House is a lovely facility. Good separation of bedrooms from common spaces. Also, each of the four bedrooms is large, well equipped, and has a private bathroom. The house location could not be better! We spent a lot of time on the private beach and dock. Our children enjoyed playing in the water and befriending the local ducks. We would definitely stay here again.
This was our second time staying at Grandma’s house and we loved staying there! It is great for large families with a lot of stuff to do for everyone! We will definitely stay there again!
Wonderful stay at Grandma's House. Host was great at communicating promptly, check in easy, great location on river with lots of amenities. Plenty of inside and outside space to be together or separate. Kitchen was stocked with amazing assortment of pans, and spices. Pool table, piano and arcade game was icing on the cake. Some things need looking into for repairs like fridge bins, some windows and doors don't slide well. Would definitely recommend staying here.
The accommodations were good for all ,great kitchen, good river access. Outside furniture and equipment could use a little TLC but useful and we enjoyed are stay, would stay again
We go to the Russian River a lot and this would be one of the best places that we have stayed at. The location could not be better and the space provided fit our family perfectly. The highlight I would have say was the rope swing that was across the river on the other side.
Spent a great Christmas holiday in Grandma’s House with our family. Plenty of space for 4 couples, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. Easy stroll to the Boho Manor for cocktails around their fire pit. We had a great time!
The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant. There was plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed watching people paddle down the river, adding to the charm of the place. I highly recommend this location to everyone I know—book your stay now!
Stunning property! Kitchen extremely organized and complete with all items needed to prepare our Thanksgiving feast. Steve had cleared the property of rain debris and managed to coax the sun into a full glorious display.
We spent 3 days on the property. The location is excellent with easy access to the river for both people and 2 dogs. We spent a lot of time on the river swimming and kayaking. The property has large bedrooms and is clean. Please note that the property has a lot of miles on it. Many things need maintenance such a leaky toilets, ceiling fan that doesn't work, kitchen appliances in need of replacement, and beat up outdoor furniture. The location is great for time on the river so you'll have to weigh out what really matters to you.

Hello, Thank you for your review some of which we discussed shortly after you arrived and called, specifically the fan not working which fyi will be replaced this week with a newly purchased unit, and I explained was the reason for having the extra fans for each bedroom as the summer months leave little time to perform this type of work on top of the usual time required for a large home turnaround. I believe all other bedroom fans worked and had backups for those hotter days. I did see the one toilet in the hideaway room had a float that was stuck in the slightly open position, so I released and has been working since. Not sure which other toilet was having issues, please let me know. Also, not sure which kitchen appliance was not working, I am thinking possibly the fridge as the ice maker dispenser has not been dispensing for a while now and have tried to repair but have not been successful so we are searching for the right fridge replacement and will replace shortly. All other appliances should be functional I believe. The outdoor furniture this summer took a beating and, in my haste, to get the house turned around and give you a requested early check-in, left two broken chairs on the deck instead of removing from visibility. We have been booked pretty solid most of the summer and with a large property and turnarounds being tight with early check in requests we can miss some items. I meant to mention after your stay about the items you noted - fan/chair but just as I am now responding I wanted to let you know that someone from your group(not sure who as I believe there were more than the two people staying that were part of the booking request) removed all our supplies of sauces/condiments/dressings etc on the fridge door shelves, so, it is not such a big deal until you have to replace all at short notice for next guest as It is stated that there are such for guests to use. So, to summarize, thank you for bringing the items to my attention and we have taken care of them or very near to but hope you can understand that there can be items that slip through the cracks and when you contacted me twice made it clear you were ok with the replacement fans and the unsightly chair that was unusable. All else I was not informed of but do appreciate letting me know.
All the best,
Steve
This is our third stay at grandmas house. We love the property, easy access to the water, and amenities of the home. Truly all the comforts of home in a rental fit for family gatherings! Plenty of space for a group, but the rooms provide privacy as well. Host was highly responsive, helpful, and made our stay an enjoyable one. We will be back!
This place is so welcoming and fun. We loved the river access with a rope swing right across the river. The home is spacious and fun, and the outdoor areas are wonderful. Stephen was so helpful with everything. The house is full of local history and quirky in a good way! It's a wonderful place for a peaceful retreat or a fun silly weekend. We did both in the same week, with friends and family rotating through for visits on the lawn and dinners on the porch.
We all had more than enough room. Everything was so nice. Lots of kitchenware, spices and condiments. Kids enjoyed the canoes and blow ups. The rope swing across the river was enjoyed by my grandkids and parents. Sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning was so beautiful and quiet. We’ll be back
Our extended family of 9 had plenty of room to spread out inside and out. 4 convenient en suite bed/bath rooms. Extra large eat in kitchen with all the equipment needed to feed a crowd River out the back door with boating and floating equipment. Eclectic decor with plenty of surprises to investigate. Above 90 temps weren't even a problem, as the house stayed cool and comfortable.
Everything a family could want is here. The house has plenty of room for family of eight. Kitchen is equipped with so many cooking and baking items. Lots of spices, pots and pans. Also inside the fridge are many bottled sauces, and jelly. Beds are comfyThe outside of the house has many flowers and flowering vines. Tall redwoods too. There are two decks to sit on or eat on the tables which you can enjoy and watch the Russian River go by The’re canoes and other floatable provided. A big area of grass Also a pool table inside, many games. And an older Atari game machine. Host is very responsive to questions This I believe is our third time here
We (two families with older children) had a wonderful time at Grandma's. The place is laid out very nicely to accommodate two families, the kitchen is big and well-equipped, and the grounds are beautiful. The location right on the river is superb. The kids loved the rope swing on the opposite shore and everyone enjoyed the various watercraft.
The only issue we had was that the beds could be made more comfortable with an upgrade of at least new mattress protectors (they are lumpy) and a variety of pillows (we needed thinner ones).
We are hoping to come back and can definitely recommend this place for a summer getaway.
Great, fun property. Great location and fantastic river access. Having the sandy shore as well as a floating dock was awesome. Kayaks, canoes, paddle boat, inter tubes and life jackets of all sizes were provided. House is great. Yes, old fashioned but by design. Very roomy, beds comfy, kitchen worked well. Would definitely stay again and very likely will be back next year. Stephen was super helpful. Clear instructions with lots of info and suggestions. Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay

Hello, I am Stephen O'Hara, originally from Dublin, Ireland. I maintain the property with Shannon Symons who is my poiject manager and suggestions for improvement are encouraged. I bought the place from two very sweet ladies, Heather and Mickey, who were the real 'Grandmas'. The house was so charming and comfortable, I left it much the same, and kept the name and the decor. It truly feels like you are at your Grandma's House, and it's a place to have fun and be spoiled! We welcome you to Grandma's!
Why they chose this property
What I really love about the property is the history! Before the original Grandma's took over the property it was Angelo's sandy beach resort. Angelo Sr who was the bar manager at Original Joe's San Francisco in the 30's bought the property in 1943, it was a hot dog and burger joint which he transformed into a restaurant and a bar he called '"The View". It catered to locals, City folk, hollywood types and the list goes on, by all accounts most loved Angelo's italian dinners most notably his specialty short ribs and his unassuming charm and wit. They came from far and wide for the food and dancing including popular music names of the day playing to the clientele from the bandstand, There was also a nightly racoon show on a redwood tree deck outside the bar window involving racoons eating cooked pasta without the sauce , much to the delight of the patrons, Herb Caen wrote about the place and of Angelo on numerous occasions. After being a burger joint, resort and sandy beach with ice cream parlor, sometime casino, Italian restaurant, and bar with dancing and live music, it was time to pass the baton to his son Angelo jr who ran the restaurant into changing times and into the 90's but as generations moved with the times it took two lovely Ladies, Heather and Mickey who adorn the walls as the original Grandmas to slow the pace and cater to a different market which we are honored to keep going today as was their wish. Grandma's has everything you want for a relaxing, replenishing, rejuvenation of the body and mind. All She asks is to slow down and leave the world behind when you enter through the door so many have been through before. The rest She will take care of! Grandma's is waiting, don't be late! There are a lot of old photo's and postcards on the walls of Grandmas and the area back in the day to celebrate the history of the building and area(if the walls could only talk...)
What makes this property unique
Play board games after eating a sumptuous dinner on a large deck overlooking the river that was cooked in the large group friendly kitchen, plenty of room for all to participate. Then fall asleep to the sound of crickets who break the country silence or stay up star gazing at the nights sky, walk down under the moonlit sky to the riverbank and listen for a fish to jump or relax in a hammock slung between two giant redwoods overlooking the river. Up early for breakfast and plenty activities to choose from for the whole family and friends. You'll find the only thing missing is there is just not enough time. Grandma's is an oasis of nooks and crannies for family and friends to get together either n many large seating areas or getaway and stroll around the garden and discover a hidden pond or maybe take a walk down a willowed trail to a second secluded beach on the property. There's a lot to discover at Grandma's and a lifetime to enjoy finding its treasures and secrets. That's why folks return again and again.
