Nice well located house to stay in for our recent trip to Mackinaw Island.
We love to take the ferry from St Ignace.
The view of the the pond/lake was an extra bonus
We were beyond impressed with the property. The cleanliness exceeded any VRBO we have ever stayed in. It almost felt like we were the first people to stay there. The property is gorgeous. So close to St. Ignace main stores, shops, restaurants, and the ferry. Our trip was very active with hiking, biking, many trips to and from the island, but we found it hard to leave the property at times. Great place to enjoy. It was hard to leave and if we ever find our way back to the UP - this is where we will be staying!
The house was fantastic for our group. We were centrally located to the Mackinaw ferries, restaurants and other excursions locations. This would be a cottage we would choose to return to.
This property was exactly as listed. A convenient location near attractions yet seemed peaceful and secluded in the woods with its own lovely smaller lake. Perfect place for my husband and I and 2 adult children. Would have loved access to a couple of kayaks or paddle boards to explore the lake a bit; there was a paddle boat but we didn't use it because we didn't have rags to clean it up.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this cabin for five nights in June.
Pros:
1. This is the cleanest VRBO property I have ever stayed in.
2. It is super close to all the restaurants and shops in St. Ignace and the ferry to Mackinac Island.
3. The view of the lake is beautiful. There is a picture in the listing of a canoe but when we rented, there was only a paddleboat that was full of water and was dirty. I wish I would have brought my paddleboard to enjoy the lake even more. Bring citronella candles for the mosquitoes!
Cons:
1. The listing said they can't promise what kind of dry goods will be available but I wasn't expecting there to be zero spices, non-stick cooking spray, etc. Usually I haul a bunch stuff to a VRBO and then never need to use it so this time I didn't bring anything and should have! There were some KCups and coffee filters but that was it.
2 There is also no hair dryer.
3. We locked ourselves out of the cabin during our stay and had some difficulty reaching anyone to help. The number given goes directly to an outgoing message that tells you to hang up and text the number with your emergency. I did so at 4:30 p.m. (they close at 5) and did not receive an immediate answer so I left a message and sent an email. By 4:45, I still received no response so we drove the physical office. Thank goodness the office was close to the cabin! Once we were able to reach someone, the situation was resolved quickly.
Overall, this is a great place.
