THE SPACE Ocean Jewell comes with a newly remodeled well equipped kitchen, stainless steel appliances, and an oak dining table to seat eight (and up to ten). The house is built with an entire heart pine shiplap interior; this is the shiplap before shiplap was cool. Two bedrooms upstairs (one King/ two Queens) and one bedroom downstairs (one Queen), with full bathrooms and glass enclosed showers both up and down.
A separate carriage house, or “Bird House” provides a quiet getaway with one Queen bed bed, and full bath with shower. Also equipped with it’s own refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker, and sitting areas ideal for the in laws, young couple with baby, or anyone seeking a more private experience from the group.
Guests can rinse off sandy feet and enjoy the outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Enjoy the breezy gardens and shaded paths that encircle the home. The entire home is enclosed in privacy fencing with three gate entrances, and dusk to dawn lanterns lighting paths; providing a safe & private retreat from passersby on the sidewalk and Ocean Boulevard traffic. Upstairs on the covered patio guests can relax with a horizon ocean view while you sip coffee or enjoy afternoon cocktails. Check ocean conditions while enjoying the light sea breezes rustling the Spanish moss dripping & swaying from the live oak trees spanning the grounds.
Watch movies on the flat screen in the living room, play games on the dining room table available from the games closet, or relax in the sun parlor with a Golden Isles publication, or local history books found around the home. Find peaceful moments in the sunroom while the morning sun illuminates the azalea gardens.
A touch of chinoiserie coastal style gives hint to the post-war influences of the home as it aged into its existence. The home’s interior walls are filled with renowned regional artists’ work; original oils of coastal salt marshes, maritime life, and even several salty sea captains. Antique splashes intermingle with the modern interior and furnishings.
Ocean Jewell Cottage is in the heart of the historic Ocean Breeze neighborhood and is one of the original preserved neighborhoods built on the island. Imagine a time when you would arrive at the Ocean Jewell riding in a Ford Model T on the newly constructed 1930s era F.J. Torras Causeway linking the mainland to St. Simons Island. Did you know about the island’s role in WWII? German U-boats once prowled the coastline just in front of the home during the war. The King and Prince Hotel, an easy jaunt down the street, was originally a dance club built just a few years prior to Ocean Jewell in 1935.
Cycle and walk to Pier Village or head the other way to East Beach or Coast Guard Beach. The home faces the 3rd Street Boardwalk (Public Beach Access 17) to what is considered “locals beach”. This stretch of beach has shoreline walking distance in both directions. Grab a to go cup, let yourself out of the gated grounds; and you are within walking distance to local restaurant favorites Crab Daddy’s, The Crab Trap, Fiddler’s, Three Little Birds, The Nest, Porch, and Georgia Sea Grill, to name a few award-winning favorite local spots, as well as the Lighthouse.

The house was perfect for our family of 8. Grandparents stayed in the guest house. Mom, Dad and 4 kids stayed in the main house. Everyone had plenty of room. The house was beautifully decorated. The location was great. We could walk to the park, village and restaurants and the beach access was across the street.

Hi Lara, thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you and your family enjoyed the space and had a great time exploring the area. Hope to host you all again soon! - Ryan
I was disappointed in the birds nest (additional bedroom separate from the main house) bedroom and bathroom. It had a terrible smell and the shower water took a long time to get hot if it got hot at all along with very little water pressure. It would do this property good to update that shower.
